As well as a repositioning cruse twice a year to run out of Australia and New Zealand. Many, many great things can be done with this new ship !!
Shanghai Disneyland is inland, while both Tokyo and Hong Kong are built on reclaimed land with first-row ocean access. It will be a very fierce battle between the two to homeport the "Asia Disney Ship". I think we will win because: first, we can attract more Chinese tourists than Tokyo. Secondly, we are closer to emerging markets like Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. And thirdly, we are more Anglicized than Tokyo, so it's more comfortable for guests from outside of Asia, like Australia NZ etc. Besides, the ship was designed for Hong Kong to begin with.

One way to Hong Kong airfare, 1 Disney hotel night prior to cruise, 6 nights on the boat, 2 sea days, 1 overnight in tokyo, a final hotel stay at Shanghai and a one-way flight back.
Global Dream isn't "The World's Largest Cruise Ship": only 342 metres in length, 208,000 tons. World’s biggest cruise ship is ‘Wonder of the Seas', 362m long, 230,000 tons, launched on 20 August 2021 by French shipbuilder at St Nazaire, France. Previous World record 'Symphony of the Seas' launched by French shipbuilder in 2018. 'Harmony of the Seas' launched by French shipbuilder in 2016. World’s biggest Atlantic liner QM2 (345 m, 76,000 tons) : built in 2004 by French shipbuilder at St Nazaire, France.
One other thing is the ship has a really really high capacity for it's size. Meaning it won't be the best experience for passengers as everything will be full up all the time, so I wonder what Disney will do / not do about that.
The best thing they could do is lower the passenger limit and increase the quality of living spaces. But it's also Disney, and that would make them less money, so...
It was supposed to be the world's most populated cruise ship at over 9k passengers, but it's now down to 6k with Disney. Porbably still the biggest cruise ship in Asia though
For me, this good for ocean crossings just like transatlantic crossing so that guests can fully explore the ship and not miss all entertainment on that ship and she can sail between US and Europe vice versa. This ship will not fit most of the ports in Asia except Hong Kong because there are no Oasis class ship sailing in Asia only Europe and US only
You know Disney will want to launch and debut it in Florida for first sailings to claim dominance over having the largest cruise ship in the world to be the first ship to go to their new island. It's a statement move but after initial sailings, probably Asia with rotating it out to be in Florida every few years for limited runs (at crazy costs of course) while to give Asia older ships to clear their full Disney fleet bucket list die hard cruisers try to achieve.
Here is where I'm at. I recalled in a Twitter post that when Disney announced that they will purchase the Global Dream, I responded with optimism and some scepticism. By buying off a ship that is almost completed, stick it with some Mickey Mouse branding, and send it to a new market like Asia, this may actually be a genius move to expand their footprint, given that they have resorts in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. A combined Disneyland / Disney Cruise experience is something that will get tourists flocking to them because they want a complete Disney holiday, which is already being done with Walt Disney World. However, it doesn't take a genius or a fanatic to see that this might not work at all. First, the rendering tells me that they are trying to retain the look as all the other ships in their fleet. However, the Global Dream was a completely different design, so it is always going to look hideous. (Six funnels, really?) Second, at 208,000 tonnes, it is easily one of the biggest cruise ships in the world and even bigger than any ship Disney built, which is why it probably makes sense to send this ship to Asia because it is far and away the biggest market for the company. Perhaps what might be really concerning is the direction Disney is currently taking at this point in time. I mean, come on, why can't they do something different like a _Tron_-themed roller-coaster or a multi-slide AquaRacer or bring back the adults-only district instead of removing a roller-coaster, add super luxurious suites, and adding too much IP than maintaining the overall concept design of the past ships? Yes, in the space of four years, Disney will double the size of its ships and yet half of them aren't as grand as you may think. Personally, I would rather take the _Wonder_ over that ship because it makes sense for the Australian / South Pacific market, plus we're getting a real Disney experience that for so long we waited for decades, but didn't come. What matters is that it's the experience that counts, and right now, the Parks & Resorts are a mess. Poor maintenance, confusing reservations, and attractions that are not interesting. And they are paying more to visit Disney parks, so is this any good? This disconnect with its fans and people is clearly seen in Disneyland, Walt Disney World and even the cruise line. And it's not limited to that: the Studio business is semi-floundering (Star Wars fans not happy, _Strange World_ already bombed?), the streaming business is expensive and lacking quality, the political interference and wokeness is getting a bit out of hand, and worse, cast members are getting laid off just as this was announced. No wonder why it's stock is taking a beating, but then again, the world is almost to hitting another recession. But that doesn't mean they can't improve what they already have. And yet they're not doing as much to bring more guests and have a good time after this change of leadership. So yes, I like the way Disney is trying to pull a Cinderella move by purchasing the Global Dream and add it to it's cruise line. If it works, then this is one of their most genius decisions that will cement themselves as the world's leading entertainment giant as it recovers from the COVID pandemic. But it's the experience that counts and so far, Disney is struggling to satisfy its fanbase and guests with its sub-par offerings and rising prices. It doesn't help that its rivals are taking guests away with new theme parks and experiences that people will go to that new, exciting and different (and that is exactly what is happening with Universal Studios and its soon-to-be-open Epic Universe). In other words, with so many fans out of touch with this brand even as they announced the acquisition of the Global Dream, has Disney really lost it's magic? And if they do, are they willing to change its creative and business direction before it's too late? I hope they understand, but I beg to differ...
disney has definatly lost its magic... maintaince and low staffing on the parks are an issue as cheap-pak tries to cut costs at the expense of the consumer experience... i cant wait for epic universe and unversal to steamroll disney as they have become very cheap and lazy as of recent...
Disney has anounced it will reduce the max Passengers to 6000. Still the biggest ship in the fleet, but not the biggest in the world. Icon of the the Seas will haven 7600 guests.
The Global dream isn't the world's biggest cruise ship though, there are several RC Oasis class ships that beat it out in length and tonnage... not to mention Icon...
Stena line was interested in purchasing it, it would have been so hilarious if the biggest cruise ship in the world was converted into your typical Stena line ferry
Since I've never been this early. I'll take this opportunity to say how much I enjoy you guys channel! I've been watching for a few years already and your videos are always amazing quality and super informative. I really hope your channel keeps growing.
If the Meyer Werft is supposed to finish that thing up, that is going to be a logistical nightmare given how big that thing is... Because the Meyer Werft is located up a river which needs to be temporarily blocked up in order to raise the water levels high enough for cruise ships built there to get out to sea in the first place. Getting that half-done ship UP that river, finish it up and then get it back DOWN the river again is going to be a major headache... A spectacle to be sure, but I am not sure the locals are going to be all that happy about it, given how much hassle each ship transfer on that river means for them. And yes, that DOES include deconstruction of a couple bridges if i remember correctly.
I'm not surprised Disney brought this ship as that was the scuttlebut for a while. A cheap ship with up to double of the capacity of the triton for potentially a cheaper or similar price as an extra triton. However with most cruise lines opting for vessels with similar or less passenger capacity currently in the future and disneys astronomical prices compared. Things get iffy. They could also be replacing the older vessels of their fleet with these new ones and either selling their older vessels likely to luxury market or if not possible just getting as much money for scrap as possible.
I think they should dock all safe and secure at good old Lake Mead! That way, the location matches the ambiance of the "parent company's "Theme Parks!"
I'm not knocking cruise ships or people who go on them but, as a sailor of a sailing boat, I can't help feeling that the whole cruising industry is becoming 'over the top' with food, luxury, entertainment etc. etc. Also, the size of these vessels, I think, is also a concern not only as far as security but environmental impact of so many turning up all at once in a particular place. I mention security, what would happen if a torpedo or something similar was to be fired at one of these vessels. Its not unthinkable. There are, unfortunately, those who would consider such an act.
While this is a large ship, this is NOT the largest cruise ship in the world. The Oasis class ships from Royal Caribbean are bigger (~360m long, ~65m wide, 236.000 GT, almost 7.000 people out of which ~5.700 passengers) and this year they also announced a new, bigger ship (new class too), Icon of the Seas, which is ~365m long, ~66m wide, 20 decks, 250.000 GT. Can carry at full capacity almost 10.000 people (7.600 guests)
@@moritzk3004 The 9.000 figure was the initial plan, but that is not the case anymore. Disney redesigned the ship to carry up to 6.000 passengers so they can also fit in their cool amenities.
Screw Asia, why not go for Trans-Oceanic voyages between let’s say Florida & France or California & Japan/Hong Kong. Make it more than a week long experience.
I absolutely hated this idea at first & thought it was a horrible idea, but honestly the more time goes on, I think it was a really smart play by Disney to get into the Asian Cruise Market for cheap.
How is it the largest if its only the 8th largest under construction (the largest being the 3 Icon class ships) And if we look at the ships currently in service it will only be the 7th largest. So it will eventually only ve the 15th largest.
Disney haters: "DISNEY HAS PUSHED ALL OF US LOYAL FANS AWAY BY MAKING DECISIONS THAT PERSONALLY UPSET US AND IS NOW GOING BANKRUPT." Disney: "I'm a gonna buy a really huge ship just because I can!"
The cruise industry is still booming and in extreme high demand. The only thing hurting the industry is the loads of unsustainable high interest debt taken be companies during covid government lockdowns
With Disney having the advantage of having the most floor space per passenger of the major cruise lines, I’d be surprised if they kept this ship at its originally intended capacity. It would certainly impact their floor space per passenger ratio negatively at its current capacity/size.
Disney should invest getting into Port Aventura close to Barcelona, as management role and make a whole Disney e experience with the cruises and linking through Disney high speed train to the parks in Disneyland resort Paris as they already have highspeed trains stations in front of both resorts,,and maybe universal is taking this option in real consideration
WHY ON EARTH would Disney purchase PortAventura, when it was built specifically on a site that Disney didn't want ? Also, Universal used to have a partnership with PA, there's a reason they're not going back to it... If they ever come back to Europe, it's probably gonna be in Melun, near Paris, where they are close to Orly Intl airport, would have their own high speed station just like Disney, and much closer to the rest of Europe
When a company, Disney, recognize was a mistake,,in fact has cost millions to the company,,as wasn't owned by Disney and was getting a cannon per year,,,but that's a long history( as were assumed the 92 Olympics would have been hosted in Paris,,)that can be rewritten but could be redirectioned ,,,there cruises are here , not there , and could complement the experience,,,,about universal,,,,left as the company bought by Vivendi co and had huge problema world wide,,,and maybe news are coming,,,,soon from Universal
Japan has a Disney theme park, and the business environment seems to be more friendly to an American company like Disney! Let Tokyo be its primary home, and Shanghai and Hong Kong Disneys to be its second and third home in Asia!
NOT the world's largest cruise ship. Who keeps saying that? Royal Caribbean's Oasis class is bigger than this, and the Icon class will be even bigger. With the largest passenger capacity, it will be the most crowded being smaller than the massive Royal Caribbean ships.
i want it to stay around new zealand and australia part of the world so people can see the characters and have that experiance without paying so much for flights, accommodation etc.
Remember, Disney has no desire to accommodate any longer. The CEO himself specifically said they want to make the parks more expensive to eliminate lower income people in order to reduce crowds and make a more exclusive experience. The last thing they'll want is to make things more accessible to people who can't afford to fly to Florida, California, or Paris. Disney Cruises already cost 2-4 times a standard cruise.
@MattyPants So that’s why I think their cruises are bit-somewhat a waste. If there cruises are 2-4X expensive than a standard cruise. Then what’s the point of spending that much money when there are even better cruises.
@@shanafrancis9012 depends what you are going for. If you have kids or are a Disney fan, it's unlikely you will find anything better than a Disney Cruise. Im a Disney fanatic, but I avoid the idea of a Disney Cruise because it's too many kids. The theme parks are already out enough it's not all that difficult to avoid them.
@Mattypants That’s true since most of the passengers are mainly families. And that kids would want cruises that have lots of activities. And it’s also great for Disney fans because it’s hard to find a Disney themed cruise other than Disney cruise line and other cruise lines may not reach the fans liking so that makes sense.
I mean I like Disney but a Disney cruise is not my taste since it’s mainly targeted for kids and sometimes a lot of kids can be a bit annoying in my ideal cruise.
The ratio of staterooms to passenger capacity on this ship makes no sense. This ship has less staterooms than a Royal Oasis class ship, but can hold 1/3 more passengers? Where?? And with the cost of 1 ship being $1B+, I’m not that surprised someone snapped this up.
I do know one thing they aren't going to be able to charge their astronomical prices for the Chinese market because they're not going to pay that so it definitely is going to be a challenge to determine pricing but with such a large vessel it shouldn't be that hard. But I'm definitely seeing it in the Asian market I think it would be amazing you have four parks in Asia well three really and I think this would be amazing they just have to carefully tailor the entertainment and offerings towards the Chinese market which I think they can handle well

For me, this good for ocean crossings just like transatlantic crossing so that guests can fully explore the ship and not miss all entertainment on that ship and she can sail between US and Europe vice versa.
This ship will not fit most of the ports in Asia except Hong Kong because there are no Oasis class ship sailing in Asia only Europe and US only
This is AWESOME!!!
Disney have a new island? hmmmm need to research that
@@brownsense1 Lighthouse Point, it's currently being developed and planned to start use in 2024
Largest cruise ship in the world I don't think so.icon ots.wonder ots.etc etc.
Wonder OTS and future Icon OTS are bigger
Great to see you laid all this out in a good way!
Last thing I want is to be on the "worlds largest cruise ship by passenger capacity". Have to admit though, that does make it sound very Disney.
Who the hell thinks piling into a metal box with 9000 other people is a vacation? Sounds like hell on earth
Stena line was interested in purchasing it, it would have been so hilarious if the biggest cruise ship in the world was converted into your typical Stena line ferry
Since I've never been this early. I'll take this opportunity to say how much I enjoy you guys channel!

Thanks for your support over the years, it really does mean a lot to us!
Tim - Tracker!! Put your order in Tim!!❤️
fun fact: global dream also has a incomplete sister ship that is unamed
It’s going to the scrap yard
Imagine a cruiseship dedicated to only one Theme. Like only Star Wars or Marvel...
Disney bought the ship months ago.. they just publicly announced it a few days ago!
I lost it when you revealed the roller coaster isn't in the concept art
Largest capacity. But that title doesn’t sound as cool
Bring Disney to Bali please!!!
Genting: "It holds 9,000 pax!" Disney: "Sold! Goofy, you're in charge of embarkation." Grab your popcorn!
And all ships has a ballroom but Disney has a dancing stage ballroom
And there smokestack acctually has a firework vent
I wish it comes to hk cause there are no ships here
Damn. Pretty soon they’ll own the whole solar system.
It's no where near the world largest, especially with the new capacity
In gross tonnage wonder of seas is bigger, final oasis will be bigger and icon will be bigger
@@superheracross89 Yeah I know! :)
I do think it’s a good idea that the new Disney cruise ship should reach Asian cities like Shanghai, Hong Kong, Japan, etc.
Is it unsinkable?
Enough lifeboats?
Will they allow aboard people who name is cal?
They could turn it into Star cruiser at Sea.
I hope they buy the global dream 2 to make this a sister ship.
No
@@daniel24102 I know this ship isn't ideal. But if they can modify it to the quality of the Fantasy a sister ship would be great.
Largest cruise ship by passenger capacity (9000) as mentioned in 0:55
@@moritzk3004 The 9.000 figure was the initial plan, but that is not the case anymore. Disney redesigned the ship to carry up to 6.000 passengers so they can also fit in their cool amenities.
@@TheoPoufinas they bought the largest cruise ship and made it smaller, thats also said in the video...
Screw Asia, why not go for Trans-Oceanic voyages between let’s say Florida & France or California & Japan/Hong Kong. Make it more than a week long experience.
Looking very nice..
It's not the world's largest ship by any means. Royal Caribbeans Oasis class is still bigger
I absolutely hated this idea at first & thought it was a horrible idea, but honestly the more time goes on, I think it was a really smart play by Disney to get into the Asian Cruise Market for cheap.
Make a second type of Disney cruise ship? A budget one maybe
Disney has also bought Fox Studios, later renamed Disney Studios, Australia.
I never thought I'd hear the phrase "sloppy seconds" on this channel, lol. 2:20
A roller coaster on top a cruise ship… what could go wrong? Switch to decaf, Imagineers.
wait what about the costa concordia
How is it the largest if its only the 8th largest under construction (the largest being the 3 Icon class ships)
And if we look at the ships currently in service it will only be the 7th largest.
So it will eventually only ve the 15th largest.
Disney haters: "DISNEY HAS PUSHED ALL OF US LOYAL FANS AWAY BY MAKING DECISIONS THAT PERSONALLY UPSET US AND IS NOW GOING BANKRUPT."
Disney: "I'm a gonna buy a really huge ship just because I can!"
There was already a starcuiser from a different cruise line
This will give royal caribbean some competition on the mega cruise ship market!
If this is anything like the Galactic Starcruiser & similarly priced, it is going to be mostly empty. This won't do them any favours.
This is probably why Disney fired CEO Bob Chapek. This gives the moniker "White Elephant" a whole new meaning.
Six!!! Funnels
I'm amazed at the shed that houses the ship while its been fitted out - truly amazing engineering
The cruise industry is still booming and in extreme high demand. The only thing hurting the industry is the loads of unsustainable high interest debt taken be companies during covid government lockdowns
D23 has announced the cruise ship name called the Disney Adventure
Buying the ship and removing the roller coaster and the balconies that face inward Disney does that
disney: haha we just bought the worlds largest cruise ship which is the global dream😎
icon of the seas: *appears* yo wsp disney
With Disney having the advantage of having the most floor space per passenger of the major cruise lines, I’d be surprised if they kept this ship at its originally intended capacity. It would certainly impact their floor space per passenger ratio negatively at its current capacity/size.
I hope america gets disney ships like this
It’s confirmed heading to Singapore
Largest by capacity only! Largest overall is still Wonder of the Seas 💪 Until Icon is done of course
6.000
Load it with Disney employees, officers, directors. Then, please, sail it into the nearest ice berg or, better yet, The Bermuda Triangle.
If Disney so little as touches PA I'm going to kill somebody
Maybe have also sail to the USA for Disney Land. And back to Asia, so fans can enjoy the Disney parks there.
It looks like a Royal Caribbean Oasis class ship
Evidently Disney paid 6 cents on the dollar for this boat. Can't go wrong.
But I'm definitely seeing it in the Asian market I think it would be amazing you have four parks in Asia well three really and I think this would be amazing they just have to carefully tailor the entertainment and offerings towards the Chinese market which I think they can handle well
Wow this will be so cool so now Disney has the worldest largest cruise ship
Icon of the seas will be the world's biggest
The CPC is exercising greater control over Shanghai Disneyland? That's news to me. The resort is thriving: they're on track to built a third resort hotel, too.
6 funnel!? How about 3 funnel instead like queen Mary!
World’s largest by gross tonnage? Not even close. It would be in the top 10, but no where near the largest in the world.
Needs to be star wars theme now
