*The Marone Era* Nick Payne is here. And although I know that this character is liked by many, there are many things about his and Jackie's introduction that I feel don't work. Nick Payne is brought on as one of those never-before-mentioned retconned children of an established character (Massimo, who is _himself_ a retconned character). And Jackie apparently works with Lauren Fenmore in spite of us never having heard of her before. This gives both of them an _unearned_ connection to the main cast, which feels like a Iazy way of teleporting them to the center of the show without them having to work their way there. The characters also fill not one, but _three_ unnecessary functions - replacing the Spectras (who didn't need to be replaced), adding support for Brooke (who didn't need any more support than she already has) by giving her another love interest who can compete with Ridge for her attention and a potential mother-in-law who absolutely loves her, and reminding us of Ridge's new Marone family (which we did not need to be reminded of). There is also a subtle shift in the feel of the writing as these characters are being introduced - they don't appear to treat the B&B universe as if it's entirely _real._ We often hear the character Nick making comments that we would expect from a soap viewer who doesn't take the show seriously but watches just to be entertained. And as time passes, the entire show will begin to feel like this - as if we are not _meant_ to take it seriously anymore (the 2003 Sheila storyline, which also involves Nick Marone, being the first obvious example). With the introduction of Jackie and Nick Payne, we enter a new era of the show, and the "classic B&B" era comes to an end.
I couldn't agree more with all of this Annie. Well said! 👏👏👏 I've never cared for Nick or Jackie for all the reasons you laid out. And I resent them for taking the Spectra's place.
Very well said! I was going to post but you have done it better. It was hard enough to accept Massimo as a new character, but then to accept Nick, a secondary character, and Jackie, a tertiary character (in terms of newness and relationships to existing characters) - it was too much. The whole show became about them, and it was too much newness too quickly. I subscribed to this channel for a month so I could have Season 17 on in the background while I did things around the house, and there are even more new characters! And they destroy the legacy characters remaining. This really is the beginning of the end, at least for me. Also, I have nothing against Jack Wagner, but having seen some of his acting in General Hospital, Melrose Place, and B&B, he has one character that he always plays. It’s fine, but it gets boring after a while. He wasn’t worth all the fuss.
Always thought 2003 was truly the last good year for B&B. Wagner was an excellent addition that made the next 7 or so years decent. After he, Ronn, and Susan left it went downhill, fast.
The invariable adressing Bridget as Princess is singlehandedly responsible for the keeping the ick factor going strong even if romance wasn't on the table. It's a father's moniker for a daughter and one who never gets older than 6.
The babysitter was always a threat to a teenage boy or a marriage, as in Amber Moore or Erica LoveJoy. Ridge's baby sitter is no threat for Brooke, because Logan is the biggest threat out there. A lion won't be intimidated by a chihuahua either.
Honestly, I will have to say Bridget went after Ridge because she wanted to punish her mother because of the affair sweetheart that’s on Deacon as Well, stop blaming your mother for every day.😮 but what you did is downright calculated and cold 🥶
Brooke is looking like she might need The Substance. Unlike in the movie where Demi Moore's character was stunning and definitely didn't need to look any younger.
Nick Payne Marone was great for the first three an a half years❤🥰, but in or after the second half of 2006 until his last scene in 2012 Nick was horrible😔😡.
Bad boy Deacon looks less edgy without his goatee.
Yay Nick is here! ❤
Ridge is torn between his ex-sister and his step-mother. 🤢
😂😂😂😂😂😂
7:28 you know he spent the morning checking the dictionary for a 'big' word to use in his chat with Massimo 😂
Ridge wants to be Hope’s dad and “make a difference for her,” while he ignores his own kids and outsources their care to Bridget and Catherine 🙄.

Sadly conflictly may resolve without harsh words!
That is a harsh ending as the show ends but those time frames are left unanswered for the fans

3:25 I'm laughing with Massimo, partly because his laugh is wickedly funny & because the request is laughable 😂😅 Go away, Deacon
I’m surprised he didn’t say “Deacon, I’m not the wizard of Oz!”

Enter Nick Payne before he's Nick Marone.

Ridge & Brooke: open couple (one u&ly).
I have always had a major crush on Jack Wagner!
Brooke and Ridge have a sizzling chemistry ❤
Yes Nick Payne Marone. Brooke, you're greatest love is coming❤😊
Nicky is on the scene.
Dominick "Nick" Payne, one of the hottest men to be in the bold and the beautiful, need him and Ridge so bad
Not sure why all of you hate Katherine Kelly Lang so much
Seriously Bridget get over yourself you can’t compare to your mother Ridge will always love Brooke Forrester More 😮
Ridge has been aging and looking suddenly older lately. He's almost caught up to Brooke!
I was about to say the same. 😂
Ridge looking so old just makes his relationship with Bridget even creepier.
Not many of us stay in our 20s or 30s
Bridge ❤❤
13:26 oh hello there! 😍
Bridget, get over it! It’s gross 🤮!
Katherine Kelly Lang was only in her early 40's here but she looks like she's in her mid 50's
She may not be able to help l ooking like that, but not washing her hair is 🤢
Bridget is wrong and EW 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 For thinking that her and her stepbrother gonna be a couple Brooke Forrester belong With Ridge Forrester😮
Where did Brooke hide her car and her baby???
Brooke is looking like she might need The Substance. Unlike in the movie where Demi Moore's character was stunning and definitely didn't need to look any younger.
Ridge is starting to resemble Bruce Jenner mid transition.
LOLOLOLOL

It was very progressive of B&B back then to have a trans actress like Katherine Kelly Lang in these love scenes.
Ridge is l oo king like he is transitioning too though 🤭
@@Esi-741 😂😂😂
That’s an awful thing to say about anyone even if you don’t like their character 😡
@@cathyarnette2887 It's not my fault that her reassignment su r g e r y isn't very convincing.
Oh look! Cathy has finally joined us in real time. 🤭
5:35 These two now🥹 I've been off this path, don't bring me back to this Bridge, pun intended!
