MIGUEL ZENÓN - alto sax MARK TURNER - tenor sax AVISHAI COHEN - trumpet ROBIN EUBANKS - trombone STEFON HARRIS - vibraphone EDWARD SIMON - Piano MATT PENMAN - Bass ERIC HARLAND - Drums Edit: These gentlemen are FREAKING AWESOME! \ ( ^ _ ^ ) /
Anyone still remembering to listen to this? Still surreal to me that Jack Conte as the creator of Patreon has so little subscribers on UA-cam his content is some on the best
I can imagine "Stefon Harris" bursting through a brick wall and playing an epic vibraphone solo... literally all I can think about now, I love this so much! Its great! :D
why is it that the most famous "musicians" have less talent than every single guy in this video? and yet 99% of people will never even hear of these guys. why does it seem that pop music has completely lost sight of any importance of musicianship? these guys are just awesome.
I absolutely love Eric Harland. I saw him drum with Terrance Blanchard at Edinboro University, PA back in 2003 or 2004. That guy was AMAZING! I talked to him briefly after the concert and got his autograph. Super nice guy and SUPER talented!!!
I love this, it's so funky! Loving the vibraphone player singing the melody at the same time. I covered this track on my channel in an a capella style too. Such a great song!
I admire and respect anyone who operates with such skill that even their mistakes look and sound intentional. It is as close to perfection as can be achieved.
Migeul Zenon an absolute master mind for the arrangement. Great solo too. Man has a brilliant musical mind. Funny I've never heard of him outside this collective.
so far, 14 people that have disliked, they obviously don't know how to listen. This is amazing interpretation of a great song, made into a lush adventure!
awesome!!! that's my man Robin Eubanks on trombone one of da' greatest bones players on earth!! met him @ Jazz Showcase a couple of years ago!! we traded CD's!! very humble brother!!! BJ
i just wrote the comment below, and thought i'd said enough-- when the alto player went into atonal(?) -"free" improv space... i feel like this might be the jazz/music of the future, it's so unbelievably GREAT...! THANK YOU FOR POSTING!
Great arrangement. Put together and performed with such patience, this is a song that grooves so hard you just want to rush through it to get to that peak; yet you bring us through it building on each moment of the song, note by note, FANTASTIC!
Love Stefon Harris. He's taken my instrument to great new heights. I hope I can play like him some day. I hope I can afford a vibraphone some day for that matter.
It has been a while since UA-cam has thrown up a sample of your work on my page; this was a great time for it to pick one; you have my continued respect.
This arrangement is *unreal*. The reharm (funkily showcased in the piano intro) and the rhythmic stuff going on with those periods of silence are very, very cool. And the performance is fantastic. How have I never heard of this group and Zenón before? I'm definitely taking note.
now that is what i'm talking about! refreshing take on a classic. awesome video, killer arrangement by the alto player. tight group of guys. can't wait to hear more from them. love your production/editing jack! keep it coming.
@chrisandnicky - hey - the flaps under the vibraphone rotate, and it causes a tremelo sound. It's basically a physical tremelo instead of a "digital" or "electronic" tremelo. Much like how a leslie speaker rotates to give an organ that vibrato sound
Superb arrangement with a simply spine tingling collection of talented musicians to perform it. Jack, you always bring the goods my friend, and today you deliver yet again.
Cant believe the musicians are talking in the beginning of the performance. I understand that they may need to discuss the tune but way to many people are doing this. Besides that this is f**King Awesome!. The talking sounds alright when i think of it as part of the music anyways. And the video is amazing!!!!!! Thanks for all your hard work everyone. Im sure i will give this a thousand listens.
holy crap! this is the coolest video i have seen so far today!! by far! this is just so cool, i was digging it! why doesnt this have more views!! ...i gada wach this again this was way cool... ive become a fan of that drummer! dude was rockin it!
Stellar playing. Excellent arrangement. And, excellent camera work...during MZ's solo, whoever spliced all that together gets it...building intensity visually with the alto
i love how anything can be mixed with jazz and jazz with anything else. the groove feels alittle off but thats because the repetitive figure played in the backgroud of the original song is not being played regularly so someone unaccustmed will get confused, but make no mistake the groove is there. this isnt funk though this is jazz. one must understand that. All in all well done. the groove is readly audible and felt most east during the xylophone solo. quite nice
This rendition of the song is great and you did some slick editing Jack! I'd have to say though that I'm sure your fans would love to see more JACK CONTE originals! XD We're starving for more!!!
This is the best version of Superstition I have ever heard.
Vibes player is a BEAST
He´s got the vibes
Yessir That's THE Stefon Harris on vibes and he's a serious problem!
13 years later still one of my favorite videos!!!
MIGUEL ZENÓN - alto sax
MARK TURNER - tenor sax
AVISHAI COHEN - trumpet
ROBIN EUBANKS - trombone
STEFON HARRIS - vibraphone
EDWARD SIMON - Piano
MATT PENMAN - Bass
ERIC HARLAND - Drums

Me brother. My god this is good
I can imagine "Stefon Harris" bursting through a brick wall and playing an epic vibraphone solo... literally all I can think about now, I love this so much! Its great! :D
The chord progression on the original theme starting at 0.29 is just too good!
why is it that the most famous "musicians" have less talent than every single guy in this video? and yet 99% of people will never even hear of these guys. why does it seem that pop music has completely lost sight of any importance of musicianship? these guys are just awesome.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Jack Conte is BACK!
You are even more awesome than i remembered.
I absolutely love Eric Harland. I saw him drum with Terrance Blanchard at Edinboro University, PA back in 2003 or 2004. That guy was AMAZING! I talked to him briefly after the concert and got his autograph. Super nice guy and SUPER talented!!!

saw this live at The Jazz Standard in NYC last April.... Miguel was in BEAST MODE.
Why am I only seeing this in 2017 ? Thank you guys for keeping the Spirit and the good vibes alive! Peace & all the best from Ol'France!
I live in the SF area and I am real proud of being exposed and near such awesome music. Can't wait to see these guys live.

Once again I am humbled by the soul, the musicianship and the way so many players can come together and make something so organic!
God Bless!
i just wrote the comment below, and thought i'd said enough-- when the alto player went into atonal(?) -"free" improv space... i feel like this might be the jazz/music of the future, it's so unbelievably GREAT...! THANK YOU FOR POSTING!

SOOOOOOO Nasty, Funky, Organic and Tasteful - Great job SFC and Jack Conte's video concept is AWESOME!
after ive listened to this i have to say this to you....YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!!!!
This is an awesome mix, credit to Jack for recording such a spacious track. As for the players, well, my brains are on the floor.
Absolutely awesome. Especially the drums--soo smooth the whole time.
The vibe playing at octaves is really impressive, as is his solo and most else in this!
Don Miller says it best: You don't really appreciate jazz music until you see other people enjoying it. I just gained a lot of respect for jazz.
I keep coming back to this video! it is so freekin good!!!
That is so intensly good i cant even belive it.
you guys are just insane musicians
Great arrangement. Put together and performed with such patience, this is a song that grooves so hard you just want to rush through it to get to that peak; yet you bring us through it building on each moment of the song, note by note, FANTASTIC!
