We need this
The TV news reader didn't mention that the rail segment between downtown Phoenix & Yuma has been abandoned for ~25 years by it's owner, Union Pacific, and would need expensive repairs and upgrades to get it working again. So that Amtrak would need to spend lots of money to both purchase the rail line and also refurbish it, in order again have the Sunset Ltd. use that rail segment. An alternate plan would instead re-route the Sunset Ltd. to use existing BNSF freight line from downtown Phoenix northwest to Wickenburg, then use the former ATSF line westwards to Parker, AZ, to Cadiz, CA, and eventually arrive at Los Angeles Union Station. The Wickenburg - Cadiz rail segment is currently owned by a short line freight operator: "AZ & CA R.R."
I’m for it and would use it for sure!
Last time i rode AMTRACK was 35 years ago and loved riding the train.
Amtrak*
Does this include moving the Amtrak station from Maricopa back to downtown Phoenix. Makes much more sense.
Let’s hope so…I’ve been hearing this for years! We’re the only major city without rail service…what’s going on with that?
< reviews notes > Money and something about shit that really needs to get done never getting done. I don't expect anything to change anytime soon.

❤❤❤ a great idea
A perfect example of why better mass transit is needed in this country. Nobody wants to drive their car for hours and hours!
restore the Sunset Limited back to Florida, like the way it used to be
Hopefully this will include the reopening the old Phoenix Centeral Station which I believe is currently being used by AT&T.
High-speed rail 🚈 , amtrax is obsolete. Why is America 🇺🇸 going backward 🤔
Cars are obsolete, looks like you have never been to Europe of Asia
@@CJbrinkman602 you're obsolete where are homeless people who sleep in their cars supposed to go?
@@Junior-rt6xr In affordable housing
That would be really cool 😎
While I love the idea and would make use of it if possible, the biggest issue is what is termed the "last mile" issue. Cars are point-to-point, while Amtrack is area-to-area, you need to arrange separate modes of transportation at both ends of the line.
Make you cities more walkable and that would solve the issue
Ron, it's the same problem with traveling by air. We as a nation love wasting money on ancient, outmoded forms of transportation . Hopefully we'll pivot ditching the inferior automobile and focus on trains and as @CJ here said, a more walkable environment.
Game changer!
Amtrak? We need to broaden that tunnel downtown. I don’t know how but we do need to.
So you can drive faster?
Finally
Yes please!
That’s looks busy
The should invest in the auto train from Fla to CA by the way of AZ at least 3 times a week. We could bring our vehicles and not have to drive or rent a car when we get there.
LOL I was just looking up to see if there was amtrak here in phoenix to take mt to san diego. glad to see it coming
Thank biden 😊
I wouldn't get your hopes up since all we got was another study.
If you can eliminate ALL crossings of road traffic
This train can get from A to B in shorter time without some idiot parked on the tracks not making anyones day with armrests in need of repair from the deathgrip of passengers freaking out, insurance paperwork, delays, and the removal of whats left of the dead idiot vehicle.
Monacello ny no train hello ya guys
This is a waste of money and manpower. Almost no one goes from Phoenix downtown to Tucson downtown and it'll become another white elephant project. Amtrak's Acela line from Boston to Washington DC barely breaks even and it's in the middle of 50+ Million people with plenty of stops to choose from. Phoenix- Tucson will simply never get the ridership to break even and will always be in the red.
Amtrak is a service and therefore is not required to make a profit. You wouldn't complain about firefighters being in the red would you?
Do Highways make money? why is Amtrak expected to make money but the I-10 isn’t?
Amtrak is talking about long distance trains not commuter lines. I ride Amtrak a couple of times a year but have to drive down to Maricopa to catch the train. So much easier when Amtrak serviced Phoenix from the Amtrak station in downtown Phoenix.
@@ronaldlynnjohnson7589 Stanton is quoted about service being 3X a day between Phoenix & Tucson. That's commuter rail vs long distance. Bus service would be cheaper and simpler to make happen. Amtrak would be a money pit in either case.
@@ItsEricAZ who is going to ride a bus through, a bus has to use the road
So we can be like cattle during the tribulation.
What a JOKE! Just like the 'Light Rail' in Phoenix area!
Your the Joke
Not a surprise the light rail is shitty when it’s a single line that doesn’t even come close to being effective. Instead of throwing 50 dollars and a paper clip at public transport and shitting your pants when it doesn’t work magical wonders but instead made the light rail was an extensive service that spanned the entire region PERHAPS it would actually serve its purpose as convenient transport
