This song by itself fills me with existential sadness... coupled with this series "recap" video... such beautiful despair. As far as the finale, in the manga version, with it being open-ended or open to interpretation, I prefer to believe the more optimistic theories out there.
**SPOILERS** They didn't have anywhere else to go, so there you have your ending... I personally see this as a good ending, death shouldn't be a thing to fear. I believe that death can put an end to our neverending misery and suffering in life.

The both didn't suffer, in fact they had plenty moments of pure joy. This message that death is the release is kinda out of place.

Conflicted 🌝 I'm not sure what it is about the tone and how the song is over all, it leaves me with existential dread but also gratefulness that I am alive until today. And the. Suddenly I feel nostalgic, looking at the lyrics makes this more intense. I would play this while walking home with my friends. And when I think about how the manga ended, my mind Goes back to this song again. All the journey they went through, but there wasn't really anything above. But it's like trying staying hopeful over something even if we know or not know it's pointless. Then it reminds me it's like that because we don't have control over everything and then I remembered I should make every moment in my life count AND THEN- Fuck this series. i mean. a translation of the lyrics exists. Its largely about persisting through adversity with a loved one. your analysis isnt that far off, but its just all framed through a connection with a loved one. almost every line says "we" or alludes to another person. and there are two voices singing the song. struggle, repetition, futility. but finding pleasure in it because you are with someone you care about. counting the stars with that person even though its impossible to count them all just to ease your minds.
