Kind of interesting how they use a cow moo'ing for a test. Also another interesting thing is that they disabled the rotators just to have them point one direction permanently.
OK, real talk though, I find it both funny yet pleasing that they chose to use cows mooing as part of the weekly test. Because if you live in a place like that, you hear the sirens go off all the time, and if they're using their actual alert tones for the tests--then you become desensitized to it when there's an actual emergency or assume the sounding is 'just another test'. So this helps prevent that, so people only hear the alert when there's a real emergency, but the civil defense can still test the siren as needed to ensure it will provide a variety of audio! Super cool, if not really funny xD I wish more places did this! Or something simular.
Definitely agree, it makes a lot of sense. I know at least Warrenton is planning to use an elk call with their new Whelens when they go up, I think there’s some city in Alaska that uses a didgeridoo sound too.
Not only does it seem odd to have two 3016’s facing different directions as opposed to a single 2910 (32 speaker drivers as opposed to 10), but that tone has to be harsh on the drivers.
This is a routine public test of the cannon beach fire district community warning system , the sound of a cow mooing means this system is only being tested. If you ever hear this system broadcast is powerful siren sound it will mean “an important Announcement for your own safety will follow please remember the mooing cow only means this system is being tested this is a test 1:15

Sorry for the late reply, but it’s probably to focus sound down the coast along the beaches. There are probably sirens that would cover further inland, so having them rotate wouldn’t be needed.

I don’t think the span but if anyone knows any others that has this configuration id love to hear about them. Very interesting Also I wonder why they didn’t just use a FS mod that has 360 sound output or just use one of these sirens and had it spin. Very interesting
Iirc the south facing head wasn’t working as this thing sounded very quiet. That was years ago though, so I may have forgotten or they may have fixed it.
The mooing sound was actually made and recorded by a human. I can’t fully remember his name, but I believe he’s passed away now, and his name definitely wasn’t “Cherry1880”.
Sadly it's been replaced by a whelen I can't see which one it is since the street view is Terrible sorry people who loved the siren It's GONE edit: not to sure if it's the cannon beach @samchannel5312 your at

Nothing better than the good ol cow signal! 😂
You’re lucky you have a profile as a tornado siren
WHAT THE *F___ *

The mooing I believed they wanted to put a little fun into testing. Haha!
They love combining a bunch of old Whelen sirens

Assuming it stands for "Community Outdoor Warning System" 😂❤

Also why did they disable the rotators? Just ONE Whelen WPS 3016 could rotate! Also why are they using cows mooing for a test?
They don't want people to get scared of siren so they use a cow
bro the sirens turned into cow in cannon beach
they use to cows mooing so people won't get desensitized to the actual siren
The reason of the cow mooing is because of a running gag started due to the acronym of the system COWS.
So, it was just a joke taken way to far?
That's so weird, why not just have one that rotates?
Sorry for the late reply, but it’s probably to focus sound down the coast along the beaches. There are probably sirens that would cover further inland, so having them rotate wouldn’t be needed.
@@thatonefresnorailfan I know like 4 beaches with sirens that don’t rotate and face opposite directions
I think the DSAs are at beaches
They may be used sirens that used to be somewhere else but the rotators broke previously

Yes. That one is on Tempe Town Lake and can be seen right off of the 202. :)
This siren went to Chernobyl
Imagine if both of these heads start rotating
Not to mention, they had that just like what the aussies have there!
I find it really scary it goes from high to low to really low so it really really scary but it’s just mooing
May I use this video in a complation
No, sorry. Given that this is one of my more popular videos I’d like to keep it on my channel only.
Do they both work on the same controller?
They both have their own controls
No one of the heads are no functional
Why is there two of them?
Warn people easy
Because this is a Dual Whelen WPS-3000. I've never seen something like this, before.
Can I have some help finding the location of this? The description is not clear enough
