Personal story. When I was in my 20s, my twin sister died. As I was a protestant at the time, I believed in Heaven or Hell, but not Purgatory. Nonetheless I had frequent nightmares of her sad and angry about being forgotten and asking for help, which were fairly distressing considering the options available to me. When I came into the Catholic Church, I began saying prayers for her and had a mass said for her. The nightmares stopped. I hope God had mercy on her soul and she is at peace.

I was baptized into the Catholic faith almost 4 years a go now... I have had souls come to me in my dreams, clearly sad & under some type of distress, my entire life. When my dad passed, he came to me in my dreams several times as well, with so much regret. After I became Catholic & further understood what purgatory was, it came to all make sense. I pray for my father daily, & the dreams eventually stopped. I now understand why these souls come to me, & I make every effort to say prayers for all those purgatory who have no one praying for them due to so many other Christians just simply not believing in purgatory, so sad... Please never fail to say your prayers for these poor souls 🙏

Your page was the first one I found about becoming Catholic. My wife is Catholic and my daughter was baptised Catholic, I was never baptised which means I am a heathen. I always had respect for the Catholic faith as an authority on Christianity. I am looking forward to becoming a Catholic. Great UA-cam page. Thank you.

I’m a late convert! (5-6 yrs. NO not very informative in regards to Catholic specific teachings. Learnt more by watching Dr Marshall!)
When my mother died, 2019, my elder sister had her cremated and then her ashes were scattered in the park.
No service, no anything. I was very distraught.
I went to confession in the city and blurted out what happened. The priest was very kind and understanding. He advised me to speak to my parish priest, have a mass for her and guided me to the prayers for Souls.
I wish I had known of specific prayers for her soul as it was obvious her passing would be soon. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Keep watching this channel. You will learn heaps of Catholic specific teachings from the scriptures.

There was a pastor back in the day who I absolutely loved. He and his wife were the Christian parents I never had, and once he called me son by accident. He challenged a lot of the default setting Baptist assumptions, the usual rapture, dispensationalist, Schofield and Americanist notions and so on. I now know he was cribbing notes from Church Fathers. We got crossways only one time but it was savage. Voices were raised, fingers were pointed and we both got wrathful and red faced. It was about exactly this topic, praying for the dead. I told him it was viscerally natural and needful and I did it, period. "William! If you do that you might as well be Catholic!" Well, maybe so. And here I am decades later, actually trying to become Catholic and praying for this beloved man who passed away just a few years ago. I am sure someone out there is eager to assist by telling me he has no shot, and to write him off. But praying for him is the shot I have and I will take it. Our God is a mighty God, and what kind of son would I be if I did not try? I'll have to bring up our quarrel in general confession. I was right on the point, but disrespectful of this dignified and moral man, who loved me as much as I loved him.

No, we can’t assume that because someone has faith that they will be justified on that basis alone. Man is not justified by faith alone:
      (James 2:24)
“You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.”
      You wrote:
      “…he(the Pope)…has changed the 10 commandment”.
No, the sabbath has not been changed to Sunday. Saturday is the “Sabbath Day” and Sunday is The Lord’s Day. They are two different things. The Catholic Church simply “bound” with it’s keys that Sunday worship “satisfies” the sabbath keeping command. This is within the scope of the Church’s authority to “bind and loose”(Matthew 16:18-19).
      You wrote:
“IHS stands for Isis Horus Seb…Egyptian SUN WORSHIP”.
😂. Ah, no. It is the short form of the latin inscription "Iesus Hominum Salvator" or "Jesus Hominum Salvator" or "Jesus Hominis Salvatus". It has nothing to do with what you’re talking about.
By the way, Ellen G. White was a false prophet. Chew on that!

I’m unable to quote from the Bible so here is my take on what you believe
Yes, you are forgiven when you believe that no one goes to the Father except through Jesus.
However, there are consequences of your actions, whether they are in the positive or negative. Like every loving father you will have those consequences dealt you.
What you are saying is that belief in Jesus is a direct route to heaven. That does not take into account your soul to be rid of impure and unholy sin.
Only the pure and holy will enter the Kingdom of God.

Thank you for the exact wording! It is what I said.
Tell me then, why does Jesus say (not verbatim as the scriptures and no scripture book etc.) “When I was naked, did you clothe me? When I was hungry, did you feed me?” Also (as bracketed) “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.”
To me, that would indicate that more than faith is needed to enter the Kingdom of God.
What is your take on the above info. Thanks

I agree with this comment. I was about to unfollow this channel because of being negative to the pope. I'm not a Roman catholic I'm a CEC Priest and I love the pope and he needs prayers. Constructive criticism is good but it should be done with respect and reverence to the successor of Peter.
Yes, some of our family and friends in purgatory needs our prayer and Church Masses. They're receiving light and severe beating (Luke 12:47) for the purification before interiing into Gods holy presence.

I'm 63 and converted to Catholicism from being a Baptist, too. There was SO MUCH I DIDN'T KNOW, that I just kind of heard other teachings, sorting truth by my own faulty discernment. Finally I went to adult RCIA and every single truth and falsehood was explained, which really opens the eyes of the soul to SEE!

A deceased Poor Clare nun appeared to a saint (I forget who) and told her she had gone straight to Heaven - bypassing Purgatory - through the recitation of the prayer below, every night before she went to sleep.
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with all its love, all its sufferings and all its merits.
1 --- To expiate all the sins I have committed this day and during all my life. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
2 --- To purify the good I have done poorly this day and during all my life. Glory Be, etc.

No. Not the Divine Mercy. I used to say it religiously eventhough it never felt right to me. I read several times that it was not orthodox at all, considering Sister Faustina and her questionable diary. She did not expound repentance to obtain mercy and she very bizarrely said a Host flew from the alter into her hand 😳, I suppose, during Mass. Fatima Center has videos with Fr. Gruener and John Vinnery which are enlightening. There's other information on this but I lost it somehow. 😇😇😇

      It's a fable a myths
Jesus paid the full price for our since
      Revelation chapter 21 verse 6
And he said unto me for it is done for I am the alpha and omega the beginning and the end .
I will give unto him who athirst the foundation of water life freely
No need to go to Purgatory and pay for your sins
Jesus paid that price for us on the cross
So why make the cross invain
Jesus gave us a parable about the marriage supper of the lamb
For a stranger came into the banquet and he had his own robe on and not the robe of righteousness of christ
There's nothing we can do for ourselves to inherit the kingdom of God my friends

On the subject of praying for the dead, The Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge declares without hesitation that “no Old-Testament passage can be quoted in favor of the custom.”
The Catholic Encyclopedia admits there “is no clear and explicit Scriptural text in favor of prayers for the dead” in any of the sixty-six Bible books mutually recognized by Protestants and Catholics.
The New Catholic Encyclopedia states: “In the final analysis, the Catholic doctrine on purgatory is based on tradition, NOT sacred Scripture.”
“The church has relied on tradition to support a middle ground between heaven and hell.” (U.S. Catholic).

Though there is no ecclesiastical decision in the matter, it is a common custom to pray [to] the souls in purgatory that they will intercede with us for God.

Thank God I watched this video!
At first I was tempted to dismiss it since I'm 100% convinced about the Sacred Doctrine of Purgatory and I know pretty much all the Theology behind it. But something made me actually go back and watch it. And lo and behold I learned something new in this video...a most straightforward answer to the most common lame argument of protis against Purgatory of "where is that word in the Bible?" I used to answer with counter questions s.a. Where's "Sola Scriptura" or "Holy Trinity"? etc. and the sequential related arguments. Although that is still a correct answer, I just learned that the word Purgatory is actually in the Bible after all...well in one form! In that passage in Corinthian quoted by Dr. Taylor, the original writing for fire is PUR...BINGO!!! So PURgatory is just that place where that "PUR" or purifying fire is found. Soooo the word Purgatory is implied in that passage without a doubt. Thanks for the input Dr. Marshall!

We must remember that the Most Blessed Mother does not require us to pray the Holy Rosary in latin.
The HOLY ROSARY is efficacious in any language.
Praying for the dead is an act of Mercy.
Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself tells us...welcome to the Kingdom for I was in prison you visited me.
Being in purgatory is being in prison...as the Holy Scriptures say that one cannot be release from prison until one has paid the last farthing.

This is not as bad as believing if you are not catholic you are not saved. We are under the New Covenant. I would rather proclaim the all powerful and all prevailing victory of the Blood of Jesus and all that that means - as if anyone could. Purgatory is taught by Jesus I several places. Luke 16 the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man is not in the hell of the damned but rather in Purgatory. Firstly he addresses Abraham respectfully as Father. Then he prays relief for himself. Later he prays for his relatives. Souls in Hell don’t wish salvation for anyone nor do they grow in charity from selfish prayer to selfless prayer. The rich man is in Purgatory to grow in holiness and charity before reaching Heaven. The great chasm is mentioned but in Matt 18 v34 Jesus says: and in his anger the master handed him over to the torturers until he has paid the last penny. Although Jesus doesn’t say the word purgatory He certainly references it. Luke12 the parable of 4 servants. One is lost, one is saved and the other two suffer varying degrees of punishment. Ave Maria.

    Pray For Souls In Purgatory
There are more souls released from purgatory during the Consecration of the Mass than at any time. Christmas is the day of the year when most souls are delivered; then feast days of Our Lord, Our Lady and great saints. Souls receive much grace from prayers offered for them on their birthdays, day of baptism, anniversary of death.
The more we work for Poor Souls on earth the more others will pray for us, the more merciful will Christ be with us when were in purgatory.
Our Lady asked that we pray very much for the poor souls; that we pray:
    5 I believe in God
1 Hail Holy Queen
1 Our Father
1 Hail Mary
1 Glory be to the Father
1 Requiem (Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them and may they rest in peace. Amen.)

People who claim to be Catholic need to be prepared to explain the truth to any and everyone anytime. This small example is priceless and timeless. Thank you Dr M.

Silly question and I may have missed it but can a non Catholic pray for the souls in purgatory?

    • @astrallady7749
      @astrallady7749 2 роки тому +2

Yes. Prayers from the heart are always welcomed. I pray for suicide victims. I also pray for the souls who have been in there the longest, and have no one to pray for them. A sincere pray will not go to waste. If the person you are praying for is already out of Purgatory, it will go to someone who needs prayers.

No, this is pagan worship. Our God is for the living not for the dead.

It would appear you have not understood any of what Dr Marshall spoke about.
Your efforts would be more beneficial in converting non believers eg Muslim, Hindu, atheist etc
Take heart that we Catholics believe what Jesus said that no one goes to the Father, except through me.
Not you nor anyone on this earth can say where we are going upon leaving this earth.
Glory to Our Father and Creator
Glory to His Son Jesus Christ
      Glory to the Holy Spirit
      Amen
