Probably a very dangerous environment with little free time. After all they had almost no recreational stuff and their medical wing had replacement limbs and organs ready to go..

I can’t imagine it would’ve been too different from an industrial job in the modern day, long hours in kinda dangerous conditions with lots of heavy tools and equipment that are *mostly* reliable, then after your shift you get some time off to sleep, eat, shop, or play some Z-Ball. As long as you do your job and follow safety protocol you should be fine, and as for the artificial limbs and organs in the med-bay I don’t think it’s and indication of anything other then it being the future and stuff like this just being common medical stuff just in case.
It’s also worth a mention that it was a massive ship, while work in mining or engineering might have been grueling, I imagine working on the bridge or in Hydroponics would be less do.
