    This seems like such a great bike for slowing down and enjoying the scenery. I've been teetering between this or a Versys 300. The Himmy's really got that it factor going for it.
    Another good video. Love seeing this scenery using Chromecast to my big screen tv. We get to live vicariously through your adventures here. 👍

    Another great loop. Interesting how the wind can push a bike over and your video captured it well. I am going to part with my 2022 XT250 ND MAY HAVE TO CHECK OUT THE 2022 Himalayan. I have on the list CRF300L or KTM390 Adventure.

    Your intro has morphed into a high drama display of the varied and interesting events you two tackle. Quite compelling, quite unique. You demonstrate aggressive and risky circumstances, which you both face with determination and skill. On northern Vancouver Island (300 miles long), we get serious winds, three hundred inches of rain a year, and the prospect of confronting black bears, Roosevelt elk, cougars, wolves and now the recent arrival of occasional grizzly bears. None of our terrain is open like yours, most is steep mountain, many rivers and distinct remoteness. Cell phone coverage at this northern end is very spotty and mostly unavailable. We don't get your sustained heat soak, but we can, in certain places, reach 95-100 once in a while. Should you two ever decide to expand your horizons, I would be happy to provide useful information about our area. There are 2000 miles of industrial roads in my riding area. West coast to East Coast.

      Central BC has endless forestry roads as well, everything from afternoon rides to overnight weekend rides without ever touching the blacktop. Can't beat it for 6-7 months of the year.

    I just ordered Shinko 804/805 tires for my KLR. I’m hoping they handle decent off-road and on.

    • @precipiceofgrind
      @precipiceofgrind  Рік тому +1

      The 804/805s have been working very well on the Himmy thus far. I like the Dunlop 606s on my KLR albeit they are a bit loud on the interstate...

    • @michaelladymon5143
      @michaelladymon5143 Рік тому

      A bit of advice on the Shinko 804/805 tires. They are designed for tubeless mounting and so the sidewall is stronger. They are a booger to mount when new and get stiffer over time making a trail side tube type flat repair impossible by yourself. I had them on my Klr and decided to change tires just because I was nervous about a trail flat and having trouble fixing it. It was about a year later and after spending about an hour and a half trying to spoon the back tire off, I just cut it off with a saws all. I thought it would be a good idea for a tougher tire, but should have thought it through on trail side repairs. Running a Continental TKC 80 on the back now.

    You keep going back to the Himalayan are you going to take it over, put a touring seat on it and the YSS shock to raise it a little bit?
    Also I totally recommend Hippo Hands. I ride in Wisconsin and they are a finger saver.

    Seems like the bike to get for a light weight ADV adventures. I bought too soon in September and ended up getting a scrambler from Zontes which is surprisingly is an excellent bike just needs a tad more power. But as soon as you see videos like the one you put up makes me want to get The Himalayan Royal Enfield... I say "save up" because not only do you have to get the bike, but all the extras which can bring the price up a bit. But for me it is necessary.
    Definitely going to be in my sights as of right now! I even looked into a (trade in) but in the end I end up losing too much money. So, might as well keep what I have, and save up for the Himalayan.
    Nice video bud, thx for sharing 👍

      Appreciate you watching! I really enjoy the Himalayan and I'll probably end up getting on. The one in this video is my wife's bike. I'm holding out for the new 450 Himalayan, hopefully it's released later this year. Adding on all the mods/upgrades gets expensive fast, no doubt!

      The KLR is a lot bigger, taller, more top heavy, and larger fairing. It's a good bike but it was a little too big and heavy for me to control as a new rider. The Himalayan is quite a bit smaller, has a much more open seating position, and is a lot more stable. I like the deeper tone on the Himalayan exhaust too. All the upgrade parts are now available too and I would say for the cost of a new KLR 650 you can get a fully upgraded Himalayan, fuel tuner, cam to increase power, exhaust, YSS adjustable suspension, and service install. I think the Rally 300 might be better but they are pretty expensive and really hard to find, parts are also a little harder to find too.

    Hey... if you are planning to buy Himalayan for your self. You should wait till they launch for Himalayan 650, it's in a production line... 650 engines are more powerful & smoother than 411.

      @Precipice Of Grind Thank you very much for the response! And thanks to your riding partner for graciously allowing you to test the limits of her bike! The stock exhaust sounds good! I just bought a '22 Himi from Kustom Workz Royal Enfield of Buffalo, NY at a nice discount. Great folks, Don, Jensen, and Nick make that dealership a sincere pleasure to do business with! As one would hope for, they are very knowledgeable about the Royal Enfield history and products. Regardless, thanks again for the videos. I may try using high heat, 2000°F, DIY spray paint for the exhaust system as I feel that is the greatest cosmetic "flaw" of the Himi; nevermind the weight and restrictions compared to something like a stainless Delkevic header pipe and slip on for $300. I know; superficial, but imagine that exhaust blacked out from the factory like they are on some of RE's other bikes!

    I often am appalled by those who like/love the Himalayan. No offense but looking at the options available the DR650 is much the better motorcycle. If the H were produced some 30 or 40 years ago it might have enough value to be purchased, but even the advantages of it (low seat height - what other advantages are there?) are easily matched by the DR650 with optional factory settings for a lowered suspension at no cost. Additionally the Suzuki has a lowered seat available giving a total of 3" reduction in height, down to about 32" whicih I believe the H has. Add to that an unusually reliable motor with mild manners and 35 to 40 horsepower- compared to 24 horsepower, and a suspension with 10" travel or 8.5" after lowering, and finally a reduction in weight by literally 100 ibs. Even if you go by the exagerated value of the H being slightly lower in cost a used DR650 will easily match that and give an expected value in reliability over a longer lifetime. Just looking at the facts with no regard to emotions the DR is by far the better on or off road. I raced when I was younger and after some years on multitudes of race bikes I can factually claim the DR650 is teh best handling on/off road bike in the catagory- disounting the far more expensive 690 or 701 from KTM/Husqavarna. My purpose for writing this is not to start of war between the H lovers and others, rather to introduce a much more practical solution to the on/off road ideal bike. Again I'm not trying to aurgue emotions just facts- that said the KLR is a better all around bike as well but it weighs much teh same yet again much more usable power. I know this will probably be erased because it is illegitimate to point out the H in comparison to other bikes but facts are facts.

      I'm actually going back and forth right now on buying a DR650 or a XR650L and I just looked at both side by side. Really like both. I like the simplicity, power, weight, and reliability of the two. As far as the Himmy, we both enjoy it for what it can do and we both have a blast riding it. It's by no means a perfect on/off road bike (does that exist?) but it works pretty good for some of the rides we currently do.

      Well if you didn't want to start a war you shouldn't have started with you are appalled that people like a Himalayan. Course the Dr goes faster has better suspension etc. They have been known to break gearboxes. They also don't make it any more. The Himalayan is out here doing it for a great price.
