Everybody is praising Floor, which is well-deserved of course... but I think Jorn Viggo deserves some credits here, too. The guy is a amazing guitar player with a distinctive style who knows how to rock.
I feel the same way. But in a sense, I feel happy that you don't hear too much about it. This is because not many people are really familiar with him yet (except for PM, JORN etc. fans). I would've been more worried if people would say Floor deserved a better guitarist than him. So in a sense I see the quiet as a compliment for him. But still, he's such an amazing guitar player and I love how he brings his own flavor to anything he touches.
I'd call it Lifeson syndrome. Alex is a great guitarist, but he is overshadowed by Geddy and Neil. The same goes for Troy Donockley. Such an amazing musician, but simply because he was accepted into Nightwish together with Floor, nobody talked much about it...

Kyrthanas, I'm with you. I saw Pagan's Mind live with Stratovarius in 2009 (Damn awesome show BTW). Watching Viggo play was something else. He's so cheerful too! Haha. You can tell he loves what he does, and he makes it look almost effortless. When I listen to Pagan's Mind's albums, I've always been bothered by the fact that nobody ever has really given Viggo enough recognition for his creativity, uniqueness and skill. I understand some people dismiss Pagan's Mind because of the vocals, but when hearing their albums played through, it helps one realize how great Viggo's playing is, and just how he has his own style. He has incredible melodic sensibility, and has some of the smoothest transitions in the genre today. He can play those "dirty" riffs as well as the sweeping melodies.
One Floor to rule them all! She really can sing everything and moreover she totally looks like a viking - rock warrior in this video XD I love it, great job!
Floor Jansen is what, in my opinion, every singer (male or female) should strive to be like. She has the ability to sing any genre from Nightwish, Revamp, and to Northward. To make her voice fit and still sound good in all bands is something that is to be desired. Absolutely love hearing her sing!
I'd rather have a singer specialize in mastering one or two styles rather than being just okay at several like Floor. She is better at rock sound more than anything else now, but its hurting her voice. In 5 years she wont be able to sing anything but poorly yelling with rasp, Jill Janus (rip) she is not.
The fact is you can specialize in one thing and be excellent, and be good enough and a lot of things. Or you can be good enough at a lot of things in excellent at a few of those things. Do you know what? There's absolutely nothing wrong with any of it. Just be talented.
Whether or not you like this, or Nightwish, or After Forever, or ReVamp, there can be no doubt that Floor is the most versatile singer on the planet, pretty much :)
