It’s always a good day when I see a new Pretty Deece. Just got through with “And It All Came Tumbling Down” before this one lol. Favorite UA-cam series hands down.
The best Modern deck that you missed is obviously the one based on everything being lightning-related that I've planned out but never built. It's shocking how good it is.
This series fills a Jon Bois sized "Pretty Good" hole in my heart. Best magic series on UA-cam. Would you ever consider making full docs? I would watch them even behind a paywall
The problem with Lurrus is that it solved the problem with it's deck building restriction and the deckbuilding restriction was already an okay strategy. Running a deck of good 1 and 2 drops is already pretty good the only issue is you might no have the gas to close out the game. Lurrus is gas, on top of being an extra card itself it nets you more cards to play. Yorion's deck restriction is not a strategy that people were close to playing. And Yorion doesn't solve the issue of running an 80 card deck. If Yorion was designed to fit in it's own deck like Lurrus had been, it'd have been a 3 mana 1/5 Birthing Pod with companion and haste. The problem with running an 80 card deck is consistency? Good thing I can pull out a tutor from my side board every game.

Yorion flickers your stuff, but what does that have to do with an 80 card deck? Nothing. That's why it's not as powerful as, say, Zirda, who makes your deck do one thing *extremely well*, or Lurrus, who makes your deck play one particular way *extremely well*. The example he lists after is what a Lurrus-power-level Yorion would look like if its restriction was less a restriction and more of a build around strategy, like Lurrus's.
@@12Fakeaccount Even Lutri the worst of all of them saw some play in historic for example in some iterations of the tainted pact combo when it was legal because the restriction was then less meaningful(though people eventually realised Lurrus was just better there also to replay your Thassa's oracles and underworld breaches or just to be a 3/2 with lifelink)

There was a way for companions to be anything other than absolutely foolish. And some of them will be left on the deckbuilder's floor, an example of what they should have been. Maybe Yorion and Lutri will find their home there. I'm looking forward to knowing the answer; it could speak about the state of the game.

Well, this video has like almost 400 comments, always a big fan, seeing new pretty deece is hype. This is a very interesting new type of editing style, very calm and relaxing compared to the ecstatic upbeat type of editing the older videos had. Personally a bigger fan of the old style, but im posting this at 12am, its kinda relaxing ngl. Great vid as always!
The only MTG companion I need is Jon Corpora. Every Pretty Deece is a masterpiece. I haven't played MTG since my Navy days in like, 2010? Still here for every video.
I don’t want to discredit anything else that’s done on this channel, but Pretty Deece is the way I found it. I binged the playlist front to back, and I only ever see the channel on my feed again if Pretty Deece is there. I’ve seen the other segments, but this one really is my favorite segment on the channel. I hope there’s more to come :)

Lurrus was also played in Hammer Time, a top tier stategy post MH2. After the Lurrus ban, decks that played it struggles a lot more to perf... it was the right target
Pretty Deece is consistently some of my favorite Magic content and I hardly even play any more. Gameplay is still nice as a background noise but Pretty Deece gets my full attention.

Loving it! May I suggest a history of the extended/modern/legacy as a future topic. Similar to the invitational tournament, but a crash course in the history of pro play. Trying to explain it to a friend is a hassle.
I, like many others in the comments section, only subscribed for Pretty Deece :) Though I prefer videos like the one about Hollow One or KCI, it’s always a delight to see there’s a new video from you!
Hey, I've liked pretty decee a lot, but it's always been a bit difficult keeping up with it because I'm most familiar with mtg from the last 5 or so years. This video was by far the most accessible, but I hope it doesn't stop you from making awesome content -- like your analysis from a few months ago. Good luck out there
