    He had one the best lines in the show. After Mitch found out his wife was cheating I love when he told her "Don't You Cry!" And she sucked them tears. He said "You don't get to cry." That was gold for me.

    I can not BELIEVE that the actors who played Dawson’s parents were not invited to the reunion (I believe People magazine put together?). That was SUCH a disappointment to fans! Their storylines were very pertinent, and some of my favorites on the show.

      Couldn't agree more. I liked Busy Phillips' character for the most part, but would not have wanted to see her in the reunion as much as the original cast/parents. That was an odd choice

    • @missychelle33
      @missychelle33 3 роки тому +37

      Yea they were personally pretty darn upset about it too. They had grams there- why wouldn’t they have invited everyone? Just seems rude. It’s not the casts fault- clearly it was an oversight by Entertainment Weekly. That’s who did it- not people. Not like it matters. I would love for them to do a real reunion, or even a reboot or something like that. They literally were the beginning of an era of cult classics for younger kids.

    Mitch Leery will forever in my eyes be the best, most supportive tv dad. I just remember being in awe of his character even though I was only 14. I cried so much when they killed him off. Just like Jen, it felt so cruel because they had small children and all the happiness in the world to look forward to. It broke me.

      But at the same time, that's kinda how life goes. Family members and friends get taken for us randomly sometimes and I liked that realistic quality to it. I kinda just feel like they killed Jenn off because they knew she didn't want to constantly be asked about it, as she was already getting crazy popular in her movies by the end. "No, I won't come on any spin-off" type thing?

    • @destinychild4659
      @destinychild4659 2 роки тому

      @@steviem8117 No, I totally disagree with that. They killed her in finale episode. Whether they killed her or not, there wouldn't be any spin offs. So I don't think it had anything to do with that. KW explained why Jen was killed. If anything I think Michelle wasn't thrilled how Jen was treated during the show. But I do agree with the reality of the ending. It was really sad, but it's reality that we lose people.

      Yeah, I thought so too. I was always kinda bored by Mitch but this video is pretty nostalgic and sweet when he talks about the memories so eloquently. You can tell he felt like he was a good mentor to them and based on the fact that none of them are truly, 100% out of the spotlight like so many other shows, the critical four characters are all still in the business in different ways. I agree with what he said that filming in Wilmington went a long way for them to bond and that closeness really did transfer onto the TV screen.

    That was amazing to watch. This is how interviews should be like. Michael really lets his guests shine. I love what he says here about the dialogue, which everyone uses as a lazy critique of the show. No, teenagers don’t talk like that, but they WISH they could. I can definitely relate to that. I definitely thought I was smarter than I actually was, as most teens do. I imagine the dialogue being like one of those memes that’s like : what you hear yourself saying in your head vs what you actually say.

    Really liked how John handled himself here. I fully expected him to take James’ side, since they worked together the most and played father and son, etc. But he played it cool, and (more or less) said, “Josh was snappy and James was more cerebral. Too different styles.” Also it sounds like the love triangle stuff happened offscreen as well, and Michael tries really hard to fish for more, but John pivoted lol.

    I don't think there was a real drama. It was a natural progression of the show. The only thing I could think of was JVDB really was not invested in Season 5-6, it is significantly more evident in Season 6 and the show was named after his character but as you know it went from "Dawson's Creek" to "Joey's College Years"...They were really outgrowing their characters so it was just natural for everyone to end it...and it did at a good moment. I know that it's based on the Kevin William's upbringing in North Carolina, but it felt SO MUCH like Cape Cod. I love that Berlanti still works with many people from from his old shows. Debra Mooney (from Everwood) was astonishing on "Batwoman", and I'm holding out hope that John Beasley at some point plays an alternate earth father of Joe West.

      Even though KW is from North Carolina and that's where it was shot, in the show it is meant to represent Massachusetts, so very Cap Cod-esque!

    • @kencoleman5007
      @kencoleman5007 3 роки тому

      @@Nostalgic90s765 I'm saying that some shows capture their Massachusetts settings better than others. With Raising Dad, Cheers, and Clipped, you get rough ideas based on context clues. Fringe (and moreover A Million Little Things) capture the locale better.
      Crossing Jordan came very close, but the city morgue isn't in the Customs House, and if the Red Line (crossing over from Cambridge) jumped the tracks, it would've ended up in a lane of traffic on the Longfellow rather than in the Esplanade.

    That's so true the statement about kids talking like that I was 8th and 9th grade when Dawson's Creek debuted and I was just like them (not really lol) word of the day vocabulary being used, just trying to be older than I was, pretentious, in a good way with all my friends doing similar things. I agree with you 💯 IMO Joey is the most selfish character on the show. I absolutely hate how she treated Dawson through out the show. She toyed with his heart one to many times. I always shipped Dawson/Joey over Pacey/Joey but re watching the show and I think Dawson deserved better than Joey. He deserved someone who was going to love him and stand by his side no matter what. Joey never did that. For example she falls in love with him in season 1, Dawson chooses Joey over Jen in season 2,Joey and Dawson date for a few episodes,Joey breaks up with Dawson to date Jack,She dates Dawson again late season 2 then blames him for his father going back to jail then disappears, then comes back in season 3 tries to seduce Dawson he rejects it because Joey hurt him,then she falls for Dawson’s best friend Pacey and chooses Pacey over him. Also she lied to Dawson about have sex with Pacey. She did so many things that pissed me off. I think Joey craved attention and drama. Thats why I loved Jen she was the best female character on the show. Jen and Dawson were my favorites. I liked Pacey too but sometimes he could be a bit douchy.

And I guess that's what they focused on but this time around watching with my girls and just finishing it, we hated Joey's character since season 2 sometime. Ugh. Absolutely heater by the end. So many stupid Avenues, all the boys chasing after her time and time again with her throwing them off so many times. That among other things. Just awful

    Random AF, but: does anyone remember the spin-off from Dawson's Creek (Young Americans) with random, out-of-nowhere "Pacey's old childhood friend, Will" spins through Capeside before his new WB show started - he was a dude who was on a date with Andie when Pacey/Joey got busted secretly outside Dawson's front door? Anyway, Will left Capeside bc Dawson was bein' a little bitch to J/P and making her choose! Anyway, Will peaced the hell out of there and settled in at some boarding school with Ian Somerhalder - and the female leads were Kate Bosworth and Katherine Moennig. I remember liking it quite a bit (no Dawson's Creek, but I think it aired in the summer so I clearly watched) but it didn't make it very far, maybe 2 seasons? Another WB fail I remember was Jack and Jill which is how I first discovered Sarah Paulson. Gosh, I'm old.

      It was called Young Americas which starred a young Kate Bosworth, Katherine Moennig, Mark Famiglietti, Ian Somerhalder and Rodney Scott as Will who was the character that was in a couple of episodes of DC to pave the way for the spin off.
      Unfortunately it only lasted one series/season even though (in my opinion) it was an interesting enough show that should have continue on at least for another couple of series/seasons especially as the show got left on a bit of a cliffhanger.

But then things got better, they got together, and then killed them off? Interesting.
