Rosie Arrives at Clearwater Marine Aquarium!

- We are excited to announce that the rescued rough-toothed dolphin that has been rehabilitating at our Fred Howard Park Marine Mammal Stranding Station since February has officially arrived at Clearwater Marine Aquarium! She was rescued around Valentine’s Day, and we are also excited to share that her name is Rosie! Rosie is currently in the Ruth & J.O. Stone Dolphin Complex medical pool to acclimate to her new environment. We invite you to come and help welcome her over the next few weeks!

When I say that you guys are doing amazing work and are living my dream job, I mean I am in college right now studying to be able to get a career in marine mammal rescue and rehab. I particularly want to eventually work at CMA as well.

So beautiful and such wonderful work y'all do there. I took my son to see Winter and Hope there and that has been a lifetime love, and it is so great to see more being taken care of that otherwise would have sadly been lost forever
ROSIE IS SO CUTE!!! My question is, how are you going to deal with Rudy and Rosie when they both mature?
Is she going to be kept in the complex or with Rudy? I’m guessing the former because I imagine it would be stressful to get her acclimated to the complex and then change her to a completely different pool? Not sure tho
According to Brooke in the video, she’s currently just in the medical pool in complex for observations. The medical pool has a false bottom (the floor rises up, adjusting the depth of the water) which makes any procedures Rose made need easier during the transition. Dolphins that are transferred usually take time to adjust and this period of observations is just to ensure that she is adjusting well to the change! Once in the clear, she will likely be moved to the Rescue Deck with Rudy though still separated as the introduction process takes some time.

Brooke said she'll be with Rudy, who is also a rough-tooth. The bottlenoses are a lot bigger.
She's paired up with Rudy

She's deaf she would not be able to find her pod,hunt or survive by herself
