All artists will critique their own work, but you my friend are a magic man.
You guys don't give yourselves enough credit. You saved what most people would call garbage.
It looks amazing!
Think about what it took in real time for Joe to remove all the playfield components and clean clean clean this playfield, and then take the time to remove the piece of mylar with the heat gun...and clean again. 2 hours? 4 hours? just to prep for Ronnie to do his part. Another 2 hours? 4 hours? Man that's a lot of time and effort. Another hour or two for a coat of wax and put all the new parts on.? True labor of love. We are parting them out. They are parting them in !
These videos got me back into the pinball hobby. Thanks for taking the time to "film" them for us. Can't wait for the next cool pinball repair video.
Get this man a job at the Louvre!
I'll say it again, I'm always amazed by your touchup skills. You've definitely come a long way in saving this trashed game. Great job so far. Thanks for making the video.
Unbelievable!!! Way to knock it out of the park Michelangelo!!!
Great job saving the game from the incinerator - It looks great!
🤔 Self portrait, eh? So, you're saying you're a handsome devil? 😅
Thank you guys for saving another one! Taking a pile of parts and turning back into a game that will be enjoyed for years to come! 😃
Just wow! I was all for putting a big sticker on it. This might be your best paint job yet.
Fantastic work guys ! 😎
In the words of the great band Alabama, "She's close enough to perfect for me." Great job guys and thanks for the video.
That's my line...hmm 😐
I love a playfield clean and repaint video, you are so patient and talented painting matching the colours and redrawing the artwork, keep up the good work parting them back in!
Wow. What a great transformation from a 2 to an 8 plus. Outstanding work Joe and Ronnie. Another great pinball being brought back from the dead. Thanks for posting.
The artwork on the pinball machine is like sword and sorcery meets heavy metal band cover art. I don't know what creature is depicted next to the flippers (medusa heads?), but it looks they'd be nightmare fuel for any 8 yrs olds playing the machine.
Brilliant job both! Great to see these sad looking machines brought back to life and looking so vibrant!
Excellent work Ron and Joe, can’t believe the transformation, it looks absolutely amazing. Can’t wait to see it finished.
Man, your passion to bringing this machine back to former glory is amazing! Btw, love the music choices!
Great work as always, gentlemen! ✌️
Excellent restoration.
Your paint matching skills are always improving. And also the touch ups
This playfield went from scrap to pretty good during this video.
Best part of the video was the music being played ☝️😁👈..who am I kidding..the whole thing was rhe best part 💥
Looks great guys! Ive done a few of these old Ballys and theyre alot of work, but worth it. Great artwork. Lettering is tough, particularly when stuff is worn away. Fine brushes and pens help, but remember, if youre looking for boo-boos, youre looking too close.
Lol
Wow, Joe went thru half a jug of Windex on this one. That was a painful peel. Great work guys!
It's good that Joe can move his hands that fast, or it would take hours to clean and rebuild that play field 😄
And that paint work would take more patience than I have. Whoever is buying this machine is going to have something that a lot of passion went into. Great job guys!
Hey Ron!!
A true labour of love but what an absolutely awesome transformation - well done, guys!!!!! It's G.I. Joe back again at 40:30 - enlightening 😁
You are amazing!! I can not tell it was so badly damaged and had to be repainted!
New plastics, nice! Ron, you are one of the people that knows when not to "guild the lily". Nothing worse than going back, shooting for perfection, and making things worse.
The phrase 'Gilding the Lily' indicates that something has been unnecessarily decorated or over-embellished. Example in use: “You don't need to wear so much makeup; it's just gilding the lily.”
I always called it "whoring it up".... LOL Like "That game's really whored up!"
@@LyonsArcade , lol, another remarkable job by the way. Always cool to see the wrecks get a second life.
Your old lost world video is how I originally found your channel. Ive since done a NOS playfield in it with almost all new parts as well. I did put a could short videos of it up on my channel as well. Just an old classic that will never leave my arcade.
Have I said already this looks GORGEOUS? You're doing an amazing job, and watching you guys work is so relaxing as well as educational! I love the timelapse, make more, even when soldering! I can't wait to see how you'll fix the head!
Back from the grave! Great work!
lookin bloody good guys.sterling progress ! She lives !..wkd transformation x
👏👏👏 WOW I never thought that would come back great job
Seems like classier music? Which I dig the funkiness of the old music too. But I almost don’t feel I’m good enough to watch this channel anymore. 😂 Seriously though, you guys always do a great job, thanks!!
It has the other music too
@@LyonsArcade, my favorite of the older was at 35 minutes. Thanks again!!
Love Paul Faris's art work
Great job saving it guys!
Turned out lovely, no idea how long it must have taken but it's a gem. Cheers.
10 out of 10!
Oustanding work as always Ron and Joe! Still on vacation here in Newfoundlad, Canada and your video made this rainy day a lot brighter. Cheers!
Good morning mister
I'd be proud to own this or any other machine you guys save. I think you do some really good work. I don't want an old machine to look brand new. I enjoy having some of the "patina" of these classic machines.
I can't imagine how it got so bad. Glad to see it being brought back. I have an original mint Lost World and it is the pride of my collection.
That wax track always is vibing.
Looks GREAT! Super steady hand. Keep party'em-in :D
0:04:00 ..at about this point, it becomes evident, that this machine was plugged in, and situated in such a fashion, that quite.a.few individuals would have had an opportunity to play the thing. wow, what Wear
Wow, you really nailed this one. Beautiful work!
Gonna need a Paragon to go along with this one!
Nice job good sir.
A little clear coat, and some proper pinball ambience of blinking lights and a darkened room, and it'll probably be a *9*!
Looking good!
what an epic transformation guys! You did an amazing job here with what little you had. Just absolutely amazing what You two can do!
it looking great! keep up the good work!
I want to see a collaboration with Baumgartner Restoration. 😊
Good job zoomed in and out Darren from Australia
What a transformation. I dig it.
Wow!!!!! Top job you boy… can’t wait to see the finished product 👍👍👍
Hey Ron could you please make a video on how to burn ROMs a step by step one on how to do it and all the equipment you need and where to buy all the equipment and what type of ROMs do you need. it will be greatly appreciated. thanks Keith
What a fantastic result, well done!
Incredible job matching the paint color another Stellar job guys
Looks fantastic! Love seeing something that was neglected and abused brought back to being so close to its original glory!
Ron and Joe, fantastic job on this playfield! You brought it back from the junk pile and brought it from a 2 to at least an 8. Well done!
Awesome result!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻enjoyed this episode!
I've been thinkin...
1 - Do you guys provide any documentation with a machine that you have repaired that describes in detail what repair work you have done on the machine to bring it to it's current state?
2 - Related to 1, do you guys put a Lyons Arcade sticker or stamp on the machine with a date so that future owners can know you had a hand in its repair and recovery to service?
The reason I ask is that I think you guys deserve to put your stamp of service on each machine you work on AND future owners may appreciate what work you did and even try to see if you highlighted it on a video in UA-cam.
Detailed documentation of the work you did can also help future owners know if you replaced something or not when you worked on it. The best analogy I have is when I worked on aircraft in the USAF, every maintenance action was documented in detail to help future maintainers save time, identify trends, and look at age of parts to determine if it should be looked at/inspected.
As always, thank you for sharing all the work and thoughts that go into doing this with all of us. I look forward to your video drops every day.
We don't put anything like that in them, no. Most people aren't interested! Thanks for watching!
Wow, what an improvement, that looks great!
Amazing!
Looking good! Thanks!
Great job guys! Have a good weekend!
What a nice treat for the weekend! Nice job, as always.
It looks awesome to me. If it just naturally fades unevenly then no one can really complain about paint that's sort of off color or weird looking in certain spots.
Love the painting videos. 👍
Lyons Brothers Plastic Surgery " We aren't shooting for a 10, but we will take you from a 2 to an 8" "Once we whack your coin door with a hammer it'll be better than new!" OK not sure what that second one means. Hit the like 5 times on this one looking great!
Looking good.. I'm now looking for an old pinball to "play" on after doing my jukebox. Keep up the good work.
Bravo!
Getting one of those old-school architectural/drafting circle stencils might help ink in the future. Those circles and a lot of the curves are probably one of the standard sizes on any good stencil sheet and it might make inking/markering them easier.
Great job!
Excellent work. I couldn't have done this
Great Job Congrats , really PEP PinbALL ! practical end Pinball ....! saludos desde Argentina 💪que digan lo que quieran, pero siempre quedan funcionales terminados y muy muy llndos , sigan asi!!!! 😘
Great job Gents! Regards
Amazing
Great respect for what you doing guys, realy enjoy this chanel.
I like EM pinballs the most got myself a Bronco and a Fireball.
i am thinking bying A Four million BC after seeing you vids.
Anyhow Thanks and greets from Holland
Wow. Great job. I always use the rubber plastics thread covers too. First thing I install after getting a machine. Looking forward to the lighting panel redo.
I've always wondered if you would be happy to have this game at your house or would you always see those touch ups and wondered "I've could have done those lines sharper" etc.
I'd be happy to have it in my house, I think I do a great job but I've had 10,000 people over the years tell me it's not good enough for their house so I always mention, hey assholes you wouldn't want this in your house.
Fantastic!
Omg, the work you went thru to get this classic back to working, was epic!
You guys are stellar!
The cost to do this for this pin should be worth every penny you charged to fix it!
I'm curious what that was?! Lol
As always,
Kudos brothers!
Great video
To Ron and Joe how many magic erasers do you go through on one play field?
We buy the cheap ones 100 at a time, typically we use 3-4 on a playfield but we probably used more on this one
At least three (maybe four) magic erasers, two shop towels, a whole lotta elbow grease and a heat gun with no gloves. Hands of steel! What a transformation and I'm not up to the repainting yet.
28:21 indeed it does look presentable enough! Can't wait to see the finished item.
38:17 awesome awesome awesome! Your "variations " blend right in with the original hand drawn artwork and will look even better after everything is put back on. Great job start to finish fellas!
50:40 easy 8/10 from where I'm sitting! :-)
Nice mylar peel.
Wow, great job Ronnie in painting. The Lost World looks found again. How long did the fee hand painting take. Joe great job waxing and putting all new playfield parts back on, looks like a new machine again. Great video guys. Way to go.
We never keep track of the hours, we probably spent 10 hours or so painting it
When the playfield is in really bad shape, have you guys ever thought about putting a new overlay on it instead of touching up the artwork?
The new overlay ends up taking more time unfortunately and then doesn't look as nice as the original paint
Interesting choice of music backdrop as you were disassembling the play field.. I like to pay attention to these subtle things and read into what it means.
I'm guessing you love the beach/caribbean as the music sets that kinda care free letting loose vibs. OR you just hit the first song on YT's royalty free playlist. The second piece seems very intentional..methodic and matches the labor... Well done
The song about 20 minutes in sounds like a faster tune from Sim City, to me.
Another cool pinball repair video! Just what I'm looking for.
How did you know?
Yay sexy Joe waxing scene!! I've been missing it lol.
Do you do your own clearcoating? I'd love to see a video on that.
I was wondering if holding the mylar at a 45 degree angle and pulling the opposite way (towards the Head) would be less damaging. Just curious. Nice work!
I always wondered after you guys touch up the playfield do you guys ever clear coat it? I've never seen that process in your videos.
Yes we clear coat it with just regular satin clear out of a rattle can and then put a heavy coat of wax on it
Thanks for watching
@@LyonsArcade okay thanks! just wondered.
Ron, were these handpainted at the factory? Or are they stenciled on or something? That seems like a LOT of painstaking work for each machine.
They were silkscreened
regarding the mylar peel. why did you choose to use a heat gun over freeze spray to remove the mylar. what does heat gun offer over freeze spray. My first removal was freeze spray with alcohol and flour to remove the residue and I never change from that. the amount of jobs you do must mean you tried multiple methods and I was wondering what made you settle on this method.
Im here again to ask if youd consider wearing a mounted GoPro or phone holder to record? Both hands free would be amazing
This whole video was shot with a tripod pretty much how would a phone on my head be better than that if I'm painting? Thank you for watching babyneon!
@@LyonsArcade the painting is good. Just for the working in stuff and showing how things work. I love the videos
Great job guys! 🫡
What's the sauce on getting the mylar off?
