Everyone here should familiarize themselves with the concept of the hedonic treadmill. It perfectly explains why a lifestyle envied by regular people is never as fulfilling as you think it will be.

we have all sinned, and broken God’s law (the Ten Commandments). When a person breaks the law, they are then considered a criminal, and to bring justice, the judge must sentence/judge them according to their wrongdoings. No matter how big or small the crime, a person who breaks the law is a criminal, and are not judged by their good deeds but by what they have done wrong. For example; a m**der cannot say “I donated millions of dollars to an orphanage, you should let me go, look at all the good I’ve done.” Criminals are only judged for their wrongdoing, to let them go because of the “good” that they’ve done would be unjust. So those who have broken God’s law will be judged for their lawlessness, not the good that they’ve done. Since we have all sinned, we must be punished so that justice may take place. But if someone pays the fine for the crime we have committed we can legally walk free. Jesus took the punishment of sin, being innocent, so that all who repent of their sins and put their faith in Him may be saved. He essentially took our punishment so that we could walk free, he paid our debt. But one can accept or deny for someone to pay their fine, in like manner one can accept or deny this gift from God. If you repent of your sin (turn from it) and put your faith in Jesus, you will be saved.

Agreed on the search for god or turning to know thyself through philosophy. To hear him articulate his hurt so well, then end the podcast with announcing he will not end the journey but continue to extend the goal post for 1 Billion is all in all, very sad to observe. Wishing him and many on this path, the absolute best. Jesus is the answer.

Becoming ungrounded and spoiled as well as losing perspective of the important aspects and values of life as well as moderation? Who woulda thunk it? That is why the wisest and intelligent live modestly but still value quality living (not necessarily the most luxurious or costly) even if uber wealthy. Living to impress others or to gain validation from others or pursuit of vapid status symbols is an empty existence. There are far more rewarding goals in life that have substance. Even something simple or humble as being able to help stray or abused animals is very personally rewarding. Different people have different motivations on what makes them feel happier. Some get their happiness from trying to improve the world or even interesting hobbies. Some just waste money or hedonistic.

Oh so well told, what a story, all makes sense...so now he is shedding the knowledge of excess, as that not knowing yourself, or finding satiation - that of never being satisfied. I hope alot of young boys watch and listen to this, and learn. Great that he can articulate the message of "not accomplishing enough", and not being "validated". But my oh my, all those young girls who fell for this alluring bait; where are they now? Sure looks like he had a way lot of fun and basically overdosed on dopamine!

It has been proven that utter gutter level poverty and utter obscene levels of wealth on either spectrum are not the happiest of people. Of course, if you are too poor to feed and take care of yourself you will unlikely be happy but obscene levels of wealth does not give happiness either as at a certain point it is superfluous. It is the values and how you live your life and for what purpose that gives you personal meaning and satisfaction is what gives happiness as well as those people you surround yourself with. being surrounded by moochers and users will not be genuine associates or friendships either. also, work/life balance is important and humility also. Gratitude and appreciating is also important because if you can't savor or appreciate what you have and always want more even if you don't need more or cannot even use it (have enough or too much already), then you will never be fulfilled and become a black hole or abyss of emptiness. Just egoistic goals or greed is also empty and wasteful.

He seems like he has the capacity to be a "normal" person, who prioritizes meaningful, healthy things, but he's not ready to give up or trade off what is necessary to be fully immersed in a life and lifestyle unlike the one he is currently living. He seems very empty and void of the riches of the world that really matter- mainly love.
