    I've seen dozens of interviews with Yuval and this is one of the best because the interviewer is really well informed.

    "The highest authority is human feelings.." feelings are fickle and can lack reason, respect, and tolerance for another human being. To me, the highest authority is a conscious mind. How one develops a conscious mind varies. The foundation for constructive consciousness is love, respect, and tolerance.

    • @illiakailli
      @illiakailli 5 років тому +5

      Love, respect and tolerance are feelings, so you just confirmed what Yuval said? They are fickle for sure, this is why we can invent algorithms that will do a better job.

    some of the best analysis of the human condition. The claim that "we" (humans) could change our path, however, contradicts the whole analysis.

    • @Funnysterste
      @Funnysterste 5 років тому +2

      "We" change our path with every decision we make. That is why we want to know ways to make sure our decisions are well made.

    it is Yuval's misunderstanding that human do not have a free will - just because there are machines that claim to have better algorithms to solve some of the calculations. First it is a bold claim - and secondly it not proven that Amazon can recommend better books based on the data... Amazon has no interest to make my life better - but to sell more books.... and all this does not prove that I do not have a (free) will... and the change from "free will" - to "hard coded program" ... I will stick to my free will for now ...
    Last time someone said we do not have a free will it was the cath. church - and we all know how that went.

    dear Yuval the sad point is that human being is not designed to be rational. we can change it if we accept it.

    Yes.
    Utility fog.
    RE: "Death is a technical problem" - yes, all of our problems are. We use imagination and intelligence to solve them.
    The coherent message of Christianity, for example, isn't the abusive authoritarian Yahweh god, nor is it the suffering and death of Jesus and the Roman torture cross. It's the resurrection.

    Warum hat der SRF das Studio in Berlin?

    • @CirTap
      @CirTap 5 років тому +1

      *EIN* Studio nicht DAS Studio. Jeder große Sender hat Studios in verschiedenen (Groß-)Städten weil es einfacher ist "vor Ort" zu produzieren. Das Studio ist mitunter nur ein paar Quadratmeter groß.

    so we will have blade runner or cyberpunk 2077. i'm cool with both tbh.
    as he said you gonna die anyways. and I say why not have some fun and interesting things happening on the way. maybe we can avoid the failures that our artists have theorized as possibilities in their works

    While fascinating, he does not seem to do anything more than science fiction authors have done for decades.
    The one criticisms I have of his historical analysis of the future, is that he seems to ignore the political dimension. Does he limit himself to a capitalist system? Why would a revolutionary technology like what he is describing not change how we do politics? Why does he assume a sort of repetition of history?

  • @Claxiux

    This guy is so full of it. He’s just repeating the narrative of the mainstream but doesn’t understand anything further than the superficial.
    I’m glad I watched this, that way I don’t have to waste my time with this guy again.

      Comments like this just seem arrogant: You suggest to have much deeper insight, but refrain from writing it down. Do you seek confirmation by having people ask you to share your rich and profound knowledge?

    Absolutely excellent! The answers as well as the questions. I fully agree that AI in the 21 first century will produce algoritms that are excellent in math, logic science and art, as stated by Harary, but I have my doubts that in less than 1000 years we will understand the functioning of feelings and consciousness. The brain is sooooo much more complex than all our other organs. We cannot put this information in an algoritm because we know far to few about the functioning of the billions of interacting brain cells. So we will stay for a very long time unique, but not perse the most intelligent beings.
    I also have problems to believe that we can extend life much more than 10 or 20%. Aging is a process that takes place in every single cell, biochemical mechanism and molecular complex. Mistakes are cumulative and follows the second law of thermodynamics. No way to hold this process. Even when we could make in a test tube from individual molecules a perfectly functioning human being, this will still be much easier than correcting all the randomly accumulating mistakes that finally will lead to death. Congratulations again to both of you.

    What is said here about traditional religions is absolutely correct. Neither them nor the inventors of bionics have invented any novelty inside the human being, though. Maybe the latter have worked out some tools to manipulate human bodies, but that doesn't make them gods. Yet, there has been one great invention, or rather rediscovery, and that's Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi's activation of the kundalini-energy. - What? You have never heard about that? Please check out Sahaja Yoga and you won't write books about the mutilation of our bodies in order to make us happier again.
