- Here is the full version of a 1989 Christmas edition I have on tape. Features alongside the hosts: Guests Trevor Neal and Simon Hickson, Phillip Hodson, Steve Wright, Peter Dickson (playing Steve Wright's Radio 1 show characters throughout the show), Anne Charleston, Nathan Moore (Brother Beyond), Sonia Evans. Thanks to Steve at TV Cream for the date correction, I was convinced it was the 9th!
Due to copyright issues, I've had to stupidly block bits from the Video Vote segment (and the aspect ratio ballsed-up!). I've kept the sequence in due to the fact it would cause audio sync issues.

I miss how the world was back then.
I'm 42 now and used to wake up every sat eating breakfast watching Going Live before going to play football with local football club. Damn I feel so old!
I'm 41 and pretty much had the same Saturday's.
I used to spend the weekend at my grandparents. I'd get up at 6 in the morning and help my grandad make the coal fire lol. Then he'd make my breakfast just in time for top banana starting at 7. And I'd flicking between channel 1 and 3 to watch going live and ghost train.
Then at 12:30 it was off to football training.
I'm watching this today because I'd been thinking about those weekends with my grandparents. I actually made the same breakfast grandad made just so I can sit and watch this.
Yes, the nostalgia is that strong.😂
god, im so upset, because i miss the past here in britain, this goes back to great times in britain.
I feel the same way - childhood! 80’s! Britain! 💜😭✨
I’m glad this is here x I’m 40 and loved Saturday mornings with my cereal, in front of the tv… watching all the best cartoons
I love that the prize for the 'save the planet' poster competition was a long haul flight to Jamaica 😂 ah the 80s
LOL
HAHA
brings back memories
Amazing. Remember watching this as a brat. The letters are pretty deep though never gave them much attention back in the day. It was great to be a kid then, remember watching this and going to go play out after. ❤❤
To think Holly Willoughby was 8 then and probably watching this.
The advice section was surprisingly grown up and some great advice in there too. Ah the late 80s. The blazing row I would have every Saturday with my two brothers when they wanted to use the ZX Spectrum but I wanted to watch Going Live. We're all in our 40s now and our arguments are a lot more complicated.
As a 13 year old in 89 i used to love Saturdays just for going live. Our Saturdays need a decent morning program again.
Plus Philip schofield was not a smug twat like he is now.
He was still young and relatively green. Before the £ turned his head
Or a sexual predator. I dont think
Yeah he was
Hahahah Philips Q&A's. He'd never get away with them answers now.
Trevor and Simon were brilliant!! 😁😁😁😁
the show was 3hours long! I didnt remember it being so long!
Aww Steve Wright 😢. I am 48 mow and enjoyed this ❤
Damm I would love to see the full 3hr if you have it
Kids TV was better in the '80s...
an the 90's, life was better in the 80's an 90's hahaha
Yeh, the pedos could hide too 🙄
used to watch going live all the time better time
Good god I thought I would feel nostalgic but now I'm wondering how my child self sat through this
Maybe your child self was more laid back and happy
@@EARART who wasn't? I think it's more kids are easier to please and grateful of any entertainment especially in those days
I remember the build up of cartoons about two hours before it started. Then the excitement watching the first 15 mins then I would do something else. Same with Live and Kicking. God knows how people sat through three hours of it
Lol i think it was mostly just waiting for the cartoons to come on every 20 mins or so.
@@A-small-amount-of-peas You sat through this because your alternatives were doing your homework, cleaning your room or listening to your parents argue.
The man next to Steve Wright looks like the man who does the X factor booming voice I think his name is Peter Dickson
Aw Gordan the Gopher :-) :heart
Girl on the right in the 2nd joke- Linda Carter from Eastenders!? Kellie Bright?
Yes, definitely her.
We all tend to look back fondly but it's only when you see footage that you see how shite it actually was. I done the same thing with a zx spectrum a couple of years ago, i thought id be on it every chance i got but ten minutes of MatchDay (favourite game as a kid) and it was mind numbing
wow.. a time when Britain was Great Britain.. WTF happened :(
Was expecting the first response to be semi-racist.
@@Hulk2k6 i agree, its people like YOU why racism exists, you bend everything to be about "Racism" off you fuck :)
@@tizdaz5698 Fuck you and everything you stand for.
@@Hulk2k6 dont forget to pick ya dummy up on way out, watch the door dont twat you! 😂
Social Media is partly to blame
Do u have the full version including DOUBLE DARE???
No sadly not.
I know Run The Risk wouldn't come along for another 3 years but was never a fan of DD. RTR on the hand... Priceless. Apologies for taking 5 years to respond. It would've been 6 but the suppositories worked much better than I ever dared dream.
If you ever wanted someone that got to big for his boots, Philip fucking Schofield. Liked him as a kid, can't stand him now. I rarely watch ITV, I could count on 1 hand the times I watch ITV in a 12 month period and a lot of the presenters they have, Piers Morgan, Susanna Reid, Gino De Campo, Jeremy Kyle, Ben Shepard, programmes like Love Island,Good Morning Britain, Loose Woman, all soaps. ITV; Where shit gets polished.
I wonder if the 2 Julies ended up writing to each other to discuses their blushing problem 😳
OK, who laughed? 10:20
Isn't it from 2nd December, given Band Aid II was recorded on the 3rd?
Phil Schofield seems so innocent bavk then, if only we knew
I really fancied Sarah Greene when I was a kid. :/
So sad to the wonderful legacy of this brilliant show from Swap Shop to Super Store to Going Live to Live & Kicking is horribly tarnished by the actions of Philip Schofield. Gordon D Gopher needs to come clean on what went on at Television Centre
Are you able to make this available on mobile devices ?
Should be available ? If not it must be another UA-cam policy thing, nothing I can do.
7:07 - Kellie Bright from EastEnders on the left??
Blocking music videos on UA-cam is so counterproductive.I won't buy Sydney Youngbloods song now
It would've been ironic if you'd had to remove 'the Jive Bunnies' for copyright reasons :)
Ironically it was blocked when I uploaded it originally :)
"In you go dicky". I wouldn't of got that joke at the tender age of 4.
Shame you had to edit the music videos...seems silly to me...as they are not full versions...Mr Mad was mad!!
Schofield has seen a cocatoo
Waiting for the teenage mutant hero turtles 😅 was that next year?
No. sorry.
7:30 "hello Sarah. Hello everybody else." god we were just so cringe. it was all so cringe all along. you think you know the cringe, but i grew up in it. i am a child of the cringe. HELLO SARAH, HELLO EVERYBODY ELSE
Nathan is so camp! Hard to believe he has a wife & kids...
And we were all shocked when he came out as gay! 😂😂😂
Steve Wright was 35 yrs old at this point. On a kids TV show. Yet the BBC found it acceptable to put him on a childrens TV programmme despite being a proven plagiarast. Sick.
Plagiarist?
He was also a TOTP presenter and we all know what happened to TOTP's ratings when they removed people like Steve. I fail to see what his age has to do with anything. The fact you took the time to look his specific age in 1989 says more about you than Steve Wright.
Yet you're fine with them playing Gary Glitter 'rock and roll Christmas?'
The BBC put fucking Jimmy Saville on Kids shows and TOTP and they KNEW what *he* was *like*!
