I’m extremely late but I just started watching the show and it’s interesting 😍😍
And to answer your question about shows that I’m watching and learning strategies?
To be honest, I watch kids shows on Netflix original cause they have European Portuguese audio available and not like shows from brands like Nickelodeon or Disney which they don’t have any. ( I kinda feel guilty watching them but it helps 😊👍🏻)
My learning strategies are kinda weird to be honest 😅like I pick a word from the subtitles when watching shows/movies and translating it of what it means. Put it in a flash card. English in the back of what it means and the front, Portuguese or mainly get a piece of paper and number it to 10 and write the Portuguese word/sentence and what it means to be honest 😅🙏🏻🙏🏻😊💜
And also hearing podcasts, news and music ( festival da canção ) 😊💜🙏🏻

How different are the islands from the mainland in speech and is it reflected in this series?
Hi Alan! Since the series isn’t out yet, I can’t give you an accurate response. It is my understanding that the main characters are from the mainland and they don’t have an accent from the Azores, which is quite different.
It depends on the island
São Miguel it's very different and *especially* Rabo de Peixe accent it's extremely difficult to follow, but it's not reflected in this series

European Portuguese! Just like the other 2 I mention in the video: "Glória" and "Até que a vida nos separe".
Is European Portuguese very different than Brazilian Portuguese? Is it possible to learn both or necessary to learn both?
Olá 👋 I would say it depends on your personal preference and connection to the country. The accents are quite different and some grammar. Maybe as a beginner might be easier to focus on one of the variants, but once you are comfortable, learning both and its differences can be fun!

Yes! Rabo de peixe means fish tail.
