  • The Museum at the Brig in Farragut State Park. I’ve never travelled somewhere just to visit a museum. Museums are great, I like stopping into a good one, broadening my horizons a little bit, but they have to be part of a bigger adventure for me to want to visit. It’s for that reason The Museum at the Brig is probably my favorite Idaho museum. It’s a stop you can add to any North Idaho Adventure with ease. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Idaho has a lot of state parks, and Farragut State Park in Athol Idaho is one of our most scenic. Sitting right next to Lake Pend Oreille, Farragut is 20 miles north of Coeur d'Alene, or 26 miles south of Sandpoint, two cities well known as Pacific Northwest vacation destinations.

    There's tons going on in Farragut; hiking and snow shoeing, a ropes course, disc golf, water sports, mountain biking, you get the idea. You can go for a day trip during your Coeur d’Alene vacation, camp out in your tent or RV, or stay a week in a rental cabin. And nestled in this stunning location is the Museum at the Brig. The brig was part of the Farragut Naval Training Station, a 4,000 acre training facility built in response to Pearl Harbor. There’s so much awesome history in this museum, WWII history, what military life was like back then, Idaho history, and much more. If learning about Idaho or military history isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of ghost stories and paranormal phenomenon that might perk your attention. Either way, the museum at the brig and Farragut State Park are well worth a stop on your next North Idaho Adventure.

    I’ll be visiting Idaho in April what are the best spots to eat? Boise & Idaho Falls?

      Hey Danny, an early welcome to Idaho to you! Really for Boise, 8th street downtown, 13th street in Hyde Park, or the Basque Block you should go to for food. Those are iconic Boise neighborhoods. The atmosphere on those blocks represent this city the best. Pie hole if your looking for pizza on 8th street. Fork is very popular for a more upscale dine. 13th street pub and grille is fantastic in Hyde Park and I watch football most Sundays at Parilla Grille next door to that. Bardenay's in the Basque Block is fantastic. The building it's in used to be a photography studio Chad used to work in so we dig that spot. There are restaurants like Chandler's Steak House that might have a little bit better food than those places. But for the overall Boise experience, those are the streets I'd hit.

      In Idaho Falls Chad and I go to the same place every time. The Celt Pub and Grille. Never fails, we've always loved the vibe. Every time we try someplace new, we wish we would've just gone to our go to spot.

      The Adventures of Jon & Chad awesome thank you so much. One more question how is the weather in April? We are also driving from Boise to Hood River OR would you happen to know the driving weather condition?

      @JonConti  4 роки тому

      Danny D Boise weather is a fickle thing. It will snow in the morning, be sunny in the afternoon, and rain at night. Things start to warm up in April though and the city can get pretty wet that time of year. Don’t know how the roads will be, could still be snow in higher Idaho elevations you never know!?!😀

      To this very day they still have a navy base on the lake. The US Navy acoustic testing center it's a submarine base. They test all kinds of brand new submarine technology before it's released to the US Navy.
