Carrying a typical surf bag chock full of lures is OK for short beach visits. But, If you want mobility check out a combat style lure belt. You Gotta drink a lot of milk first!
Pro tip, ar double mag pouches work well and if you want something big look for a s.a.w. drum pouch. For the mag pouches you want the velcro top flag cheap ones. The expensive ones have a divider. Source. I took my old issued gear and converted it to surf gear. Also you can get thin acrylic sheet and make squares with acrylic cement. More work but way lighter and less bulky
Hi Brandon, Good ideas. When I first started surf fishing way back in the 1960's, we used to go to E+B Surplus to buy WWII used gear for surf bags. It was a small store that merged with West Coast Ropes in Jersey and are now know as West Marine.
Even better , forget the pvc, a plastic Snapple bottle 12-16 oz size , cut the top off with a razor knife and drill a small hole on the bottom for drainage. Works great and each tube weighs less than pvc. 👍 Better diameter than 1" pvc, you can fit a Danny plug in it.
word, I did the same with the square FIJI water bottles. they are square, so you get all the cubic area. Also, you can get different size bottes. Go larger on one side for those bigguns
Thanks great tip. Also check out Postal Tubes above or below 40 mm (inches? ) they are generally clear, still strong but a touch lighter. Hot melt glue can be used to join. Love the belt idea, best I have seen. Will give this a go here here in UK 👍
Thanks Martin, I have sliced up a few thin plastic tubes used as covers for fluorescent bulbs here in the colonies. I like the thin walled PVC. They are easily cut with a bench saw and are fairly stiff. The small waist bags are useful along the Florida coast. However, when plugging for new England Stripers, I'll use the big bags to hold the larger Striper lures.
Thanks! I have visiting Ireland on my bucket list. We visited an Irish Destroyer when I was in the Navy, during a Med cruise. Needless to say, I had a great time with those sailors. I'll get there eventually!
Both HD and Lowes has the thin walled PVC. I believe that the name schedule c, has changed. Check out the PVC pipe and you will find a thin diameter in the racks. They are pretty obvious when you compare them.
First! Snook are close to the beach, within 20 feet of the shore. Cast at an angle along the first wave, keeping the lure in the strike zone longer. In order of success, 4" Berkley swim shad in chartreuse. Don't let the color name fool you, the lure has a blueish back over a white belly with a thin yellow/green stripe. This one lure has caught the largest and the most Snook on the beach for me. I have friends that swear by Live Target scaled sardines and mullet swim baits. Second: 1oz chrome spoons of all types; Kastmasters, hopkins, Johnson, Gator, Krocodile and Weedless Silver Minnows. They all work! Topwaters: Any 4-5" popper or Spook type. Red/White / Silver/Black /even PINK! JIGS: I rarely use a 1-2 oz white bucktail, but one guy I know only throws them. Crank and Jerk baits: The Mirrolure catch 2000 is great! Any crankbait can catch them as well. All of these same lures will catch every predator on our beaches: Tarpon / Sharks / Mackerel / Jacks / Blues / Ladyfish / RedFish. One other piece of advice. Tie any lure to a clear leader directly using a loop knot, either a Lefty Kreh or a "canoe loop". For whatever reason, snaps just do not have the same hit ratio. It does not make sense, but I cannot argue with success. I believe that I have a video of the 5 best lures...The info is the same!
Here are a few sellers on ebay. 6godwater , 26justeasybuy, trendysoftworld, search term is Tactical Molle Pouch Belts Waist Pack . I have switched to the FJ Neil small surf lure bag. They retail for 30.95. I sell them on ebay www.ebay.com/itm/143402415087 Overall I like them better, but check out all of your choices. THANKS!
hello @UCufPywBvAx3W-cFsUo3XAKA what is the name of the seacond smaller/bigger bag that you showed i fish plug mainly so im instrsted in buying one could you please send me the link
Hi YS! The bags are called "Surf Rite Supreme" Surf Bags, by FJ Neil. They are available in 3 sizes a 3, 6, and 10 slot. Each slot is 2" x 2" x 7". They are well built, should last for a few years of heavy use. They are available on eBay
Sometimes a large surf bag is needed, especially when surf casting for Stripers. Large lures in a variety of top water, swimmers, jigs and metal. But, when fishing for Snook and other Southern Critters, a small assortment will work the best! Thanks...JJC
Thats a great solution for Lake Winnipeg and also ice fishing when I am in foot!

Nice video! Where do you buy Schedule 30 PVC? Neither Home Depot nor Lowe's carry them.

Just wondering what are some of the lures you guys use in the surf for snook and speckeled trout.

I'm still looking for the best solution. I ordered another slightly larger belt bag. Always on the hunt for the perfect solution.
U must up grade your volume
I believe its sch 40 pipe! Great ideas
They make 10 20 and 30 for conduit pipe. 40 and 80 are for plumbing.
