There is a story about Lord Kartikeya from the Puranas. It is said as a young child, he became the Guru of Lord Shiva, his father. Lord Kartikeya unveiled one of the secrets to Lord Shiva and was given the highest pedestal of the Guru. This story establishes that Lord Kartikeya is symbolic of the Guru Principleor the Guru Tattva and is an embodiment of knowledge.
