Having heard the Chaconne played countless times by the greatest artists of yesterday and today, I can say that this performance is on a par with the best I have ever heard.

@Jonah Hayek There is no best. There are many on a roughly equivalent stellar level.

This is the only Bach piece that I can find on UA-cam played by Markov... I actually didn't expect this to be good since he always plays those "crazier" stuffs but now he surprised me. It's certainly a fairly easy piece for him to master in his own style.

    Alexander Markov, maravilhosamente virtuoso!🎻🎼🎶🎶🎶

Markov doesn't play chacone. He sings it on the violin. I don't know how many air violin contains but Markov somehow managed to create voice of the whole baroque organ.
Endless bow, endless voice. I think his Stradivarius created rest of the conception. Markov let his violin sing as Bach wrote it and as baroque church organ registers would blend the sound together. The most natural conception ever. It is a pitty that professional recording doesn't exist.

Все исполнители и интерпретаторы будущих времён - всего лишь тени Баха...Марков среди них останется самобытным, изумительным и ярчайшим бриллиантом, сумевшим так восхитительно через звук подарить своим современникам вот это самое чудо !!!

If someone were given 500 years to learn the violin, he would play like this

Chaconne is the last movement of Partita No. 2. Accurately, it should be just "Chaconne". On to other matters, I think this on par with or surpassing Itzhak Perlman... Markov deserves more respect.

Perlman is a Jew. Jews always have to come first.

@Susej Christ I wrote that three years ago and at the time I didn't realize how true that was. How they reached to the Santa Inc. fiasco really opened my eyes.

Su padre fue el famoso violinista Albert Markov, quien emigró a los Estados Unidos desde Rusia en el siglo pasado.

If Pagannini were somehow resurrected, i think this is how he would play it.

    • @rofo2107

Ha. No much discipline as expected but it somehow works. Conception is questionable but ingenious. These Russians :)
If you want to hear totaly different chaconne, listen to Midori Goto's version which is essence of discipline to the last detail.
Day and night. Both versions are IMHO titanic. ua-cam.com/video/KgSKvOAJMb8/v-deo.html

This man needs to start learning to play another instrument. He needs another challenge. Obviously, for him the violin is far too easy to play.

the Markov is the best violinist . He is best that Vengerov is best that the Nathan Milsten. He not is best that the Perlman, they are some.

What a jumble! He is absolutely no match for Milstein for this piece, even though his 24 caprices is beautiful.
