This is absolutely brilliant. Even though it's really hot here, this is definitely worth it for my girls and boys. Will MOST DEFINITELY give this a try. Thank you so much❤❤
Thank you! Now I know my soil didn't come up far enough in my grassing boxes and that's why my grass was falling over before ever coming out of the screen. Appreciate you two so much!
The grazing box is an fantastic idea and Im glad your the one who presented it for me. After winter is over, Im going to make one for my chickens, so they can eat grass under speciall circumstances! Keep upp the good cluck!
These are a great idea. Because our hens are free ranging bar the early morning and afternoon if it's dark. So they stay in there 4m X 3 m run. There's only 4 of them. But the thing they seem to miss is grass. So I just put in sods in. But they destroy them. Thus is great. Defo doing this!!! 👍🏼
Great idea ❤️ Love the idea of a grazing box and will definitely be making some of these once the stuff at the top of my list gets built. Thanks for sharing and continuing to show up through all of life's challenges. Take care Kelli and Ricardo! Be well
Thanks so much! These are super easy to build and they come together really quickly. Our yard is mostly dirt since we live in the high desert, so this is a good way for us to have grass or sprouting greens available for them.
Wow great idea. I love watching your videos because I’m new to chickens my family knew a lot but I don’t know much so I get all my ideas from you guys.
Thank you so much. I have 15 chicks 🐥 2 weeks old tomorrow. I live in Arizona and the weather here is dry heat. Usually these days about 108-110 but with the rain it’s about 80-88 degrees. When do best recommend me to bring the chicks into their brooder inside their chicken run?
We have a raised bed potager garden next to our coop, but our garden never does well, so I am considering turning it into more space for the chickens and doing this to the raised beds. Would give them a lot more room to run around in and the 4' by 6' raised beds would give them a lot of greens to nibble on. Love the hinged lids!
Sounds like a plan! I saw these hinged lids on someone else's post and I was like I wish I thought of that!! LOL, it will make switching out the greens and soil much easier. Good luck with your project!
I really enjoy watching you two. You seem so authentic unlike others that come of like it's all about the paycheck they receive. I think next spring I'll try this out.
Thanks so much! We just like to share our ideas with other chicken tenders =] These boxes work great unless you already have an acre of all grass, we live in the desert so this is a great way to grow some treats for them. Make sure to try growing micro greens in these too, they grow super quick and pack nutrients.
@@BockBockBouquet we live on 2.5 acres in New York in the catskills. We allowed to free range but between their lack of fear of the road and the fox population trying to get them, we were forced to keep them locked down now.
Thanks for sharing this great idea with us ! I have some leftover concrete forms I was planning on making grazing boxes with and now I can see that the hinged lids will be even better than the original design !
This is great content, yall. And thanks to your YT channel, I found your Etsy shop. I just ordered the Virgin Chicken picture for my coop and I can't wait to get it !! What can I say ? My chickens are Catholic lol
Oh and if you could get your hands on some alfa alfa seeds, you could raise them in those grass beds. They are super high in protein, i fed them to my chicks now they grown big and strong.
Yes!! We've done alfalfa micro greens along with broccoli and clover, they grow super quickly too! We also grow them indoors in jars for our flock! ❤️🐔
@@BockBockBouquet awesome. I wish i could grow broccoli, 😪 but can't because of the climate in my country. I could buy it costs me 12$ for one brocooli but 20cents for 3 cauliflowers.
Have really enjoyed watching your serious I even like the repeats I watch them over and over. You and Kelly seem to really enjoy your chicken and some ducks and are very caring about them. I admire that very much. Had watched your show on how to save your grass And built my snack boxes, as I call them, from it. At the time I added a hinged cover with Removable pins on the hinges. So I could change tops for germinating the seeds better. Not my idea, got the idea from watching James Prigioni's "Food Forest". Want to Thank You for your detailed videos. I love you add the material lists. Good luck and Best Wishes on all your future endeavors. ❤🐓🦆🐕🐈 and Y'all
If you put naphtalene balls in the corners of the coop, you might combat mites and harmful bugs in the future. But you gotta put them in a small mesh enclosures, to protect chickens from eating the bug balls.
Using Linseed oil Protects the you would and will not harm the plants the chickens and ducks or human. Not my idea but James Prigioni From his "Food Forest" show.

You are so welcome!
❤ Thank You!
Nice job!
Thanks a lot! Been wanting to switch the top of these for a while, all I needed was a little extra time. Anything for my girls 🐔

Hmmm, that's an idea!
I'm building this for my chickens next week, thank you so much for his how-to video!!
What size lumber did you use for the hinged top?
I love those grass beds. Im gonna try making them.
Super easy and quick to build! We also switch them around and grow micro greens and they can have snacks within 7 days or so!
I wish you would have shown how to build the lids
What is a good grass to use? When I researched this, most grass seeds are not safe for animal consumption.
Does the wire end up caked with chicken poop after awhile? We're building our run right now and never had chickens.
We use the hose on it to spray off any clumps of chicken poop every now and then. No big deal 👍🏻

Thank you 😊
you did not show HOW to build the LIDS...... thumbs down for that. This is why I wanted to watch is to see how to build the lids.......
The lids are pretty straight forward. Cut to the desired length, clamp the corners together, use screws to hold them together.
Is the cloth sandwiched in between what looks like furring strips?
