2023 Jetty fishing open day in Washington state under rough condition | Lingcod from ocean to table

My setup:
1. 9ft6 ML fishing rod : amzn.to/3pydPYH
2. 3000 spinning reel: amzn.to/3zcYkxB
3. 40lb main line, 15lb lead line, 1/2oz egg sink

It was rough, wind is strong, and it was raining hard when I got there, landed 1 lingcod and then cook it for lunch the next day.
West coast jetty fishing opens at the second half of Mar in Washington State through Oct. Rockfish and lingcod become active when the water warms up. In Washington state, you can get black rockfish (Sea bass) and lingcod at Westport jetty, Ocean Shores jetty and Cape disappointment jetty. Jetty fishing can be very productive, but it's dangerous at the same time, be sure you have a pair of good shoes which can hold the ground. - Спорт

@@BashiWAFishingI got one small rock bass and one decent greenling. But I was after lingcod of course.
The water is still cold, so that's not too bad for this time of the year

I was at Ocean shores jetty, so just right across those rocks

Ocean shore is easier to walk, but Westport provides better fishing opportunity
The rocks are very difficult. A dry day a must. That's why a back pack is also crucial. The primary use is to carry the rubbing alcohol and band aids. I am older now so I go slow and I don't go out as far. I got skunked last Monday with four hours fishing.
This year is too cold, the water temperature is not there yet. Usually I don't go there when it's wet, this is a special case for sure.

@@BashiWAFishing Last Monday. I started early and there was frost almost down to the water. The wind was light though. Monday was my third trip this year. I have caught 3 lings all about 21 inches. I let two go. I fish Westport.

I wanted to fish Westport Jetty Saturday, but the rain was too much for me. Wasnt about to risk slipping on the rocks.
Yes, I planned for Westport as well, but then gave up due to the rain. Those rocks are quite slippery.

Ever break that Okuma 962 when lifting fish out of the water? Was thinking about buying the 862 medium action to reduce the chances of the rod breaking.
Never break mine, but I can imagine though. I use net to land big fish.
Broke my lamiglas on those rocks on a slip.

No bite, the condition was rough, wave was too much for rockfish. Westport side should have better chance yesterday.
