Just bought one! WOOT! No piezo means no battery. A nice change from my Viceroy brown which can't be left plugged in the main jack. 🔥🎸🇨🇦❤. Now Alex, work on that white 335 or 355 !!!
Lmao an epiphone signature, Gibson’s quality is horrendous so let have their cheap Chinese cousin who has never made a guitar worth owning build a signature for a guitarist no one has ever heard of and them make this offensively bad overproduced video promoting it where he doesn’t even demo the guitar. Ads like this are exactly why I wouldn’t play a Gibson’s or epiphone if it was free.
Oh it’s the guy from rush who hasn’t been relevant since before I was born. Being Canadian may be the best excuse for having a signature guitar made by such a mediocre guitar maker.
This is the most incredible guitar I have ever absorbed. My first Gibson LP being a gold plated inlay exceptional Artisan I think it was a 76 new from Belmont music store in Wenatchee WA. The Axcess plays just as fast, with half the weight and at a quarter of the cost reconfigured in todays dollars. plus the features on the Axcess are born simply with experience and working use. It is an amazing piece of art. Stunning. Thank you Alex! J
Ah a good selling point would have been Alex actually playing the guitar in this very well shot video. I'm sure he could have crafted a short piece that would have worked as a music bed and cutting back to actually watching him playing it. Regardless, it's always enjoyable seeing him.
Alex underrated? Not hardly. He's consistantly near the top of top guitarists lists as well he should be. He's well documented as being one of the best.
I have the previous version, and it's phenomenal.... That one has a good weight, not chambered, and obviously the addition of a Floyd Rose on a Les Paul is just brilliant. And Alex is absolutely right: Epiphone has been making absolutely beautiful instruments these recent years - aside from the Axcess I also have a recent Firebird, and a few "oldies" too: 2 Thunderbird basses, an 8 string Mandobird, and my favourite - a '93 (Korean) Flying V!!! Honestly, I've had 2 Gibsons too over the years (70s Les Paul Custom and a rare '85 XPL-V, kinda like Dave Mustaine's current signature!), and they simply did *not* play and sound as good as my Epiphones. So, they're gone 🙂 And for anyone who's worried about instruments from China or Indonesia: Just set them up (or have it done) to your liking and try them out - you will be amazed.
A few years ago, Epiphone introduced the Lifeson Les Paul Axcess Standard in Tobacco finish with Piezo saddles for Acoustic guitar tones. Street price was $899, but then they had production issues and stopped making them. This new release is a Custom series with upgraded binding and inlays in Ruby Red, but no piezo saddles, which is a bummer, for $1299 street price.
I was so excited at first and ran to the dealer when it arrived. big price hike for less a piezo is the deal breaker. The carve out for floyd rose bridge is good now but will be too shallow for future adjustment. yeah i know it is a custom. but is it really custom grade? the gold plating looks rough. i wld still go for it at say 1000 or so, but 1300? ah the weight relief and axcess neck feel good.
I started playing guitar between 2008 and 2009. 14 years, not a long time. Back then, a Gibson SG Standard was $1200. Now Epiphones are $1300. I sure wish wages went up as often as these companies raise their prices.
That ruby plastic wrap looks amazing. Thank God they weren't stupid enough to actually paint it. We should see these on the Home Shopping Network soon. I remember when Epiphones were more than Dollar Store Gibson knock-offs.
I like the fact that they show a left handed version. That caught my attention right off the bat. If Alex is happy with it so will you. Thanks RUSH......

I just love this guy. I would love to just have a conversation with Alex on rock music and guitars and of course Rush. One of the questions I would ask is what ever happened to that beautiful tobacco burst Les Paul with the Pyramid pickups he used mostly on the 2112 tour. That guitar, to me, defined the early Alex Lifeson sound. The tone from that guitar combined with the 50 watt Marshall stacks is just pure gold. I called it his "majestic" sound which he never reproduced ever again.
My early birthday gift 🎁 arrived today, a new Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Custom Axcess! 😃Super nice guitar and the case is is really nice too! String height is a little high for my taste, I've got used to lighter guage strings and having the string height/action as close as possible without buzzing. I'll have to save up money to take it and have a setup done.
Great guitar and an amazing guitarist! Such a legend! To think there are not many people that will have 40+ years of music, guitars and equipment that will live forout all eternity! Thank you sir for a life full of amazing music, a dream, and great times even when I was at my lowest. Such an inspration! Such a humble and amazing artist! Thank you.
I once owned a Signature Visionary super strat that was co designed by Alex and it was one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever owned or played. It's great to see an Epiphone as a signature model, especially from Alex!
That background music is killing with memories of the past. Everyone is leaving but I'm still here. Soon I may be the only one left. I stand in awe of the passing of time and all my friends and family.
I love Alex and Rush. This is the guy who got me playing and still does motivate me massively. But I won't be picking one of these up having ben soooo disappointed with the AL355. I bet this is way over £1000 here in the UK.
👍 with you, 100% on this. Rush 2112 was one of my first LP's (vinyl!), and I still have it, along with the others. The UK price will be closer to £1500, which is staggering when you consider it is an epiphone.
No piezo and epiphone pickups for $1300 is a no from me. Personally I'd prefer the piezo or even gibson pickups over the hardshell case being included because my guitars just sit on stands and never leave my house anyway.
As a fellow Canadian, like Alex, these are $2000 Canadian.. definitely not entry level lol!! But yes they are beautiful guitars for an absolute legend!
@chrisjohnson9300 When I heard Epiphone, I thought, "Ok, you can get a decent Epiphone in the $200 range. This might be about $400 or $500 since it's a signature model. I might be able to save up that." $1300 US dollars, forget it.
@@chrisjohnson9300 See my comment above my Top range Epi from 2015 cost me abut $849.00 CDN funds ,it has Gibson 'Classic /57 pickups, Swtichcraft toggle, CTS pots, its fantasic if you can find one, Good Luck!
Just ordered one of these and had to return it to Sweetwater. Great sound, nice playability, beautiful guitar. However, I couldn't get mine to stay in tune no matter what I did with the locking nut. Sweetwater offered to have a tech check it out on the tuning problems, but there was another dealbreaker for me, which is, the high e string, especially towards the bottom of the neck, is so close to the edge of the fretboard, when you try to do the pulloffs on "Spirit of the Radio", it's coming off the neck and sounds that way. Even higher on the neck, it's too close. This isn't something you might immediately notice in pictures, because the worst problem is near the bottom of the neck. The string spacing is HUGE at the nut, which is one problem. It changes quite a bit with the string to fretboard edge spacing from the high e 1st fret edge to further up the neck. But I found myself sliding off the neck too easily even further up the neck. Putting on a new, smaller spaced nut might help. The tuning was WHACK though, even after HOURS of pre-stretching the strings and checking the nut screw tightness. Maybe cheap trem springs. Sweetwater was willing to fix the tuning problem at no cost to me but, again, the high e edge problem was a dealbreaker for me, and I didn't want to spend time seeing if a new nut helped the problem. Cost me $182 to send back to Sweetwater because of this, since that issue is build specs rather than a defect. No more Epiphones for me. I will start buying guitars locally.
I love Alex Lifeson and would love one of his guitars... But for the price and no Ghost Graphics pickups I'll buy a Harley Benton Les Paul with the Floyd Rose 1000 for $450.
For those who have the guitar, how the neck feels, the strings are close to the fretboard? Easy bending? I have to try this one but I have just one store that has it!!! Got to go soon!!!
That's a gorgeous guitar and I have the now rare 1960 Tribute Plus Les Paul in Black Cherry and love it! I imagine they are very close in quality. I agree it would have been fantastic to see Al play as he's one of my fave guitarists of all time. 😉
This is a wonderful guitar! Coil tap, lock in tuners, whammy bar, the fret board feels like butter! Beautiful sound, loads of tonal features. Definitely worth the price. I played one vs. A strat and a prs se and will tell you this is the guitar is much better and more fun to play. I've played for 48 years

Nice guitar, but if you charge 1600 bucks i expect more than Epiphone Probuckers. Epiphone prices gone up so much that you can pick up a used Gibson for the same money.
Alex lifeson deserves more recognition as an equally influential guitarist to someone like Jimmy page or Brian may in his own right, the way he plays is truly ethereal.
I really wanted to love this guitar. Went to 2 different Canadian stores in my area. Epiphone do your homework and check the quality control. Never have i seen so much damage on the binding on the fret area. Looks like a quick file on the side of the frets and lots of file marks on the binding!
That is one beautiful guitar. I wanted to get the original one when it was introduced, but wasn't crazy about the finish. This guitar though, Red with gold hardware knocks it out of the park !! One drawback and maybe you'll hear this enough to consider having a model. I waited the whole video to see if it had a Piezo.... Damn no piezo !!! Would like to have a model like that, split outputs, like the previous one!!!
As much as I love Alex and his playing, I have to point out that most of the Epiphones with locking nuts have the string spacing too wide. This puts the E strings too close to the edge of the first few frets. My AJ sig. from Epiphone had a similar issue, which required the nut be replaced on a brand new $1299 dollar guitar.
I've never been a fan of "signature models". "Alex Lifeson" is one the very very few signatures I would not mind on a guitar I own (along with Steve Rothery)
Piezo should have at least been an option for a markup. And I know he's not EVH but a drop D tuna would have been a nice yet inexpensive touch to give players even more versatility
That is a beautiful guitar! My hope coming out of the pandemic was to treat myself to the LP I always wanted back in high school (70s). The sticker shock was a deal breaker LoL I'll definitely look into this, the whole Epi line looks great
Looks like a cool guitar. Signature model of an all-time great player. But man, the list price (1600 Euro here in Germany) is just too damn expensive. For that price, they should have put American made electronics into this thing.
I have the version before this one, with the piezo and boy oh boy did Epiphone ever drop the ball on THAT one. I had to return it to Gibson THREE times for wiring problems and the last time they sent it back to me, 2 of the pots weren't tightened all the way down. Straight up piece of garbage and I own several Epiphone's, one of which actually plays better than my Gibson 1960 custom shop. Here's to hoping that this model without the piezo is better made than the last one. Something with Mr. Lifesons name on it deserves WAY better than that last one, that's a fact! Also, at least this one comes with a hard case, mine came with a very cheap soft case which was a major bummer when I opened the box.....
@iainlove2343 That's depressing....I watched a video yesterday with Alex and he mentioned something about a "Lerxst stratocaster" on the verge of being released. Judging by the Lerxst heads that Mojotone made, I'd bet a Lerxst guitar would be done well....albeit an expensive copy....but after my bad experiences with Epiphone, one could throw pieces of wood up against the wall and end up with a better guitar than that piezo equipped les Paul dumpster fire they released about 3 years ago

he could have just said BLAH BLAH BLAH and I would still buy one!
Beautiful stunning looking guitar.😀👍
That's a beautiful guitar Alex 😎
This is definitely on the list. Just picked up an Ibanez rg 550 that will be here tomorrow or I might have ordered this guitar. It’s a beauty.
What Floyd is it?
That is a beautiful guitar!
My hope coming out of the pandemic was to treat myself to the LP I always wanted back in high school (70s). The sticker shock was a deal breaker LoL
I'll definitely look into this, the whole Epi line looks great
Rock on!
Alex please do power windows guitar playthroughs!
Looks like a cool guitar. Signature model of an all-time great player.
But man, the list price (1600 Euro here in Germany) is just too damn expensive.
For that price, they should have put American made electronics into this thing.
I love my epiphone sg standard guitar and orange amp and I want to get this les Paul epiphone my favorite muisc is blues rock and hard rock .
Well if they couldn’t get the 355 right in the Custom Shop then I doubt this is any better
Need to get an LP with a 25.5 scale
Looks cool, move to Indonesia and Korea please 😂
