- The Idea of North's performance is a seamless harmony. They give a musical lesson in what a cappella really means, and split up their parts to demonstrate how they come together. The audience warms up their own vocal cords, as the four-piece coaches them through a three part harmony sung by a choir of hundreds, that really is so lovely.
The Idea of North are an ARIA award winning a cappella group. Comprised of Sally Cameron, Naomi Crellin, Nick Begbie and Andrew Piper, they are Australia's longest-standing and most awarded contemporary a cappella group in history. The Idea of North have performed with some of Australia's greatest jazz musicians, and sold out shows on home soil and around the world.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
tIoN are the coolest. They performed and gave a singing clinic at Noosa Jazz Festival, and were happy to give autographs, too. They were the best of the Fest by far, and it was a great Fest. I wish they would tour in the US again.
