Cheers mate, it's better this time of year as the sand gets wet and packs down more. The sandy stuff in summer is so deep and loose. Which year did you get? The real big thing with the bigger bikes is having the right tyres for the conditions. I had E07+ front and rear. It's a 60/40 tyre as it turns out and if no use in sand or mud! 🤣 When I get the money I'm going to put dirt tyres on it and really start using it. We often post rides on the Herts TRF group. If you're a TRF member then join the group mate, we do all sorts of rides up there. Small and big and everything in between bikes.

@@dalehawkes1698 to be honest, even with the break, you've probably got the experience for the 701 anyway mate. It's far better on the road sections for sure. I've not changed the gearing at all. Good effort on the 690, I haven't done much off roading with mine and wondered if I should have gone for a lighter bike particularly a Xtrainer but I wanted some road capability, I guess I just need to make the effort and get out in the dirt. 👍
Cheers Chris. I'm back up there tomorrow on the XDresser as it happens. I'm not taking the 690 back there or anywhere else actually on those tyres. E07+ front and rear and they are a 60/40 road biased tyre. If you're gonna take your 690 in sand or mud then get a proper dirt oriented tyre. These things suck and I had a bloody howler of a day because of them. 🤣
I had a total howler mate. You didn't notice as you were on your shiny new racing! 😃 The new narrow front should cut through all the crap. The beta loves that kinda stuff though.
Why all the sand hate😄. Man I would love to rip the KX down that last bit you were on. The more I ride on the sand the more I am enjoying it. Plus it doesn't hurt as bad when you fall. Man that creek crossing was DEEP.
Because it sucks! 🤣 And I hate it! 🤣 I love that place on the XDresser but the 690 on 60/40 tyres was horrendous. Tomorrow is going to be so different. It be deep deep water and mud and the sand will be saturated for sure. I've got a new tyre on too and it's really narrow. 🤷🏼
@@dynamotightstar3472 It don’t suck, stop hatin😂. Naa, our trails offer a lot of sand practice so i had no choice but to figure it out and now i love it. I guess my hard enduro will be the AT on the trails. More like slow enduro 😄
It is all relative I guess. KX250 doing big rock climbs or pivot turns through the trees is probably the same as taking the AT out on the sandy woods trails. It's probably the same skill level right. I've got one vid left to edit then I'm all out. Then it's time to have a rethink.
I think you hate sand about as much as I do! 😀Hahaha 😀 I had a sit on the 690 enduro and SM up at the NEC last week, the enduro is just way too tall for me, but the SM was a little more manageable. Did you avoid doing the water crossing? I love water, but that was a big lot of water, so don't blame you if you did avoid it.
Ah man I really do. Especially on the EO7+ tyres. They're horrible. That was a good 4months ago but went back last weekend on the XDresser and still don't like sand even on a light weight dirtbike. To be honest, it's too tall for me too. I can get 1 foot down on the ball of my foot. I've since fitted a kouba link and now I can get the balls of both feet on the floor. Not actually ridden since fitting the link though. That's due to the tyres though. Great ride tyre, crappy dirt tyre. Turns out they're 60/40 road biased. Nah, no way I was attempting that. I couldn't risk it with the foot on floor issue. If it started to go over I'd have to jump off. Cheers mate, the hospital reckon a year to 18months with physio. They have eme exercise to do.
Great ride and vid, I've got an xtrainer and ride Thetford. You've done a few lanes I've not, do you use apps like komoot to log your routes and can share?
Thanks mate. We use various devices and apps. None of us are using kamoot though. Bike GPX and then Garmin's seem to be the weapons of choice. I used to record routes but not anymore. I had too many issues.
Man that's a real good question. And to be honest, you're the first to ask it. They are absolutely nothing alike aside from the 690 is wearing the ATs old tyres. The 690 is approaching 100kgs lighter and only 25% less HP. In the dirt even on these tyres the 690 is mike's ahead of the AT. The traction control package on the 690 is mike's ahead of the AT off-road. Now, all that said, the AT is by far the better road bike. Without a shadow of a doubt. The AT on the MC23 tyres wasn't as capable, in my hands and opinion, as the 690 on the E07+ off road but on road that AT is an absolute beast. And the DCT is probably my favourite feature of any bike I've ridden. That bike was effortless. It would make an incredible touring bike for most people. It's no dirt bike at 250kgs though. Not for me anyway. If I were far stronger than I am and had longer legs it would be more appropriate but I'm not and it ain't. 😃 The Beta XDresser out shines them both in the dirt though. And by a country mile and change. It's a rubbish road bike though 😃
