On the official site they labelled Ash as still alive on the last video, and in the opening (or ending?? Can’t remember it’s been a while), you see Ash walking in the night with the same outfit he wore in the Library where ‘he died/ fell asleep”. He arrived at the library before night, so many people think it was Ash walking away from the library to get help. I know he’s 100% dead in the manga but I like to think they kept him alive in the anime because I have a weak heart lmfao
