As long as Rory keeps knocking on the door, it will open. To lose to an eagle is just the way it goes sometimes. But to be up there as consistently up there as he is - he absolutely needs to keep doing what he's doing. Sport is just as much about luck, as it is about anything else, and the quality across the tour is so high.
@@allenmiller6198 so why is no one else flaming any other of the golfers that didn't win? yet when rory is mentioned the keyboard warriors come alive. Cringe
Some people would never play golf at a course that doesn't allow alcohol. Some other people might pay a premium to play at a course that doesn't allow alcohol. It's like music on the course. Some people don't like it at all, some people enjoy it responsibly, some people blast it so loud it disturbs other people.
Never had a HIO but how can you not count one off the front tees or mats? Shall we just take away HOI’s off of ladies/juniors who might play there. If you play a 18 hole course from any tee and it goes in in one, it counts!
Great channel guys. Here is one for you. I am a Senior and started playing golf in 2015. I play now in Seniors matches. Last year I got my first hole in 1 playing in a match at Market Drayton and didn’t win the hole. One of my opponents had a shot on the hole and got a birdie so we halved the hole.😩 Didn’t spoil the feeling though🏌️♂️😊
People will just sneak alcohol in other containers, saying that I’ve been with people who took it too far and ended up driving carts into creeks. At Quivira in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico had a guy drive thru a sandy area and ended up puncturing irrigation lines which flooded a green. Ended up being about a $5000 round for him for the damage
Oh heck yeah. I loved that video. I wish we had courses like that near by. I could see that course doing well. Casual dress with a relaxed vibe. Who wouldn’t want to play somewhere like that. Especially newer golfers!!
I truly believe that Rory’s problems are between the ears. As a still ball game everything flashes at 100 mph through one’s head on a load of things. It’s interesting that Rory’s decline coincided with his change of management. His duck hook at the Masters all those years ago I think left scars.
for the hole in one conversation. on our course they were redoing the fairway on a par 5. in the short term they made it a short par 3. ~100 yards. I had a shot that went into the hole and bounced out (destroyed the back of the cup). Would it have counted as a hole in one had it stayed in? or it being a temporary short par 3. Make it not a real hole in one?
Funny you guys talk about alcohol on the course because I was just talking about this with some buddies last night. My buddy just played in a scramble tournament where they had to sign a waiver for damages/injuries/etc. Because the year prior a drunken golfer flipped a cart and paralyzed himself and another golfer got a DUI while driving home. I definitely think you should be able to drink on the course but some of these tournaments enable over consumption a bit too much
It’s a shame a golf podcast is completely oblivious to the LIV event this past weekend. It was my first time to watch it. Like many others, I had viewed the LIV league as a novelty league for the first couple of years. However, after discovering their app, viewing their tournaments has been much better than watching two hours of commercials during a PGA event. The team championship was nonstop drama and a great watch. As good as the first day was, the second was just as good. After the Crushers lost, I didn’t think I’d be that invested on day three, but the leaderboard was so volatile, I couldn’t look away. If you’re still hanging on to some bias or prejudice (yeah, the music takes some getting used to) and refuse to watch LIV, you missed a really good golf tournament this weekend.
Hole in one question: the difference with a mat or whatever is that everyone is dealing with the same thing. Him hitting that slazenger could be viewed many different ways. Would he have counted it if that ball had gone in?
It is actually illegal to drive a golf cart drinking in the UK, The court will take it case by case as to weather it is public or private land, if it is gated off and public ie dog walkers etc cant access the course you are okay but if the public can access the course you can be banned for driving under the influence. So be careful people.
If you play a 2 ball solo round - first ball v second ball, then hit a hole in one on the 18th with your second ball, is this a hole in one? It happened to me (at the Kings links Aberdeen - 178 yards - 3wood fade) and i I got applause from the greenkeeper parked off the back of the green. He saw the first shot and still shouted the second ball in! So i walked up, chipped on the green with the first ball, rolled the putt to a few inches, picked it up, then retrieved my one shot second ball from the hole and got a fist bump from the greenkeeper. Again is this a hole in one?
There’s no minimum distance for a par 3. Therefore if you have teed off on a ‘measured hole’ and you hole out that’s a hole in one (ignoring 2nd balls etc). With regards to the BMW PGA, I’ve long since thought that if the US PGA is a major, why isn’t the DPWT PGA a major? If that was to happen though the downside is that the field would be much stronger and players such as Matthew Baldwin wouldn’t have their chance of glory
The 'drinking challenge' video's (BDS, forebros, your channel) has only promoted the issues you're debating. Lead by example maybe? shout out to Tubes and Ange doing their bit the other way.
If Rory made good decisions and just lost, but to go for 18 when you know you don't have enough club. Lay up left of the water or short right. But he tries a shot that can't come off and was lucky he didn't end up in the water. It was like a Rick Shiels moment.. "whats the worst that could happen.."
Rory keeps missing short putts. No good saying he should have done better in regulation on 18 on Sunday. What about during the other 3 rounds where he misses a short putt here, a short putt there.. They all add up and cost him.
It becomes difficult to claim that golf is a "sport" and should be classified as such in, for some countries, the purpose of tax deductions, that golf should be an Olympic sport that we, ordinary golfers, juniors etc, should look up to athletes such as Rory, Woods etc when at the same time you allow to consume alcohol while playing. I understand that it is in the company of friends, but just as well it takes down golf as a sport. In what other serious sport can you drink? Billiards, darts maybe, but football..? Ice hockey? Running? Tennis..? Absolutely, I'm in favor of a drink after the round, but during the game we have to choose. Should golf be considered a sport practiced by athletes who train and are seen as athletes practicing an Olympic sport or does golf want to be seen as a leisure activity to which you can drink yourself happy and cozy? I'm not saying what's right, just that I feel ambiguous about whether I think it's a good idea to use alcohol in the practice of golf. I think I say, with quite a lot of conviction, that it is more inappropriate and does not fit into the actual time of the practice.
I do not fucking understand the mindset behind a hole in 1 at the par 3 course isn't a hole in one. I am PLAYING GOLF. I tee up a ball, hit it in the hole then what the fuck would I call it?? A par 3 course hole in 1? No it's a fucking hole in 1 lmao
Last weekend I almost witnessed a HIO on a par 4. It was a 350 yard hole with a 90⁰ dogleg right, so on line to the pin was only about 290. I drove it 260 and came up 20 yards short of the green, but one of my playing partners hit a really good drive that pitched on the green and finished about 10' short of the hole. We both made birdie though.

I'm all for some golf clubs not letting alcohol on the course. Those clubs can cater to the cohort of golfers that are there simply to play golf, and don't want their golf to be impacted by drinking groups. Conversely, i'd support golf courses that want to setup like a theme park for degenerates. It's all business.
Drinking and playing golf...never got it. I would never ruin a golf round by drinking alcohol, don't see the point. Also, how the hell do those people get home? Plus, at least where I live, it is against the law to drive a golf buggy while under the influence., same as a car. What about young people, is it really a good idea for them to see older golfers drinking and misbehaving? Fortunately, I almost never see people drinking before or during a round of golf. Ban it.
With regards to Guys comments about the mat on the tee box for a hole in one. One course I play regularly has permanent artificial turf tee box’s which are basically large range mats on wooden box’s. I’ve not had a hio on one of the holes but been cm away!
I think you’ve missed the point of the EU Tour subscribers. Making money through subscribers is a UA-camr attitude but the EU Tour see it as a brand building exercise. They don’t make money from subscribers they make money from commercialising their brand. It’s a completely different business model. You’re showing a lot of naivety with these comments.
I played a par 3 during a 9 round the other week. Sliced first into the swamp hit my provisional to within 3 feet and the only reason it didn't roll on was cause of aeorated greens with sand. If I sunk it would it count
Why can't Rory win big events anymore? It's simple to separate the different aspects of the game and compare them to when he was winning and see where the problem is. Physically he's in better shape. His equipment is as good or better. He has much more experience. That leaves the mental and emotional as the only thing left.
So so wrong about alcohol on the course. It’s the reason why British towns must now be avoided on weekend evenings at all costs. Just get rid. I would pay double the usual membership fee to join a club where it’s not allowed. Keep American culture in America
