I do think it can be a benefit to the black community but we are so damaged as a people that we are not healthy emotionally, mentally, spiritually enough to make this lifestyle productive. I know many that practice but one thing I will say is that I never see elderly polygynist couples and I always wonder why.

I know so many that last maybe a few years up to 10 years but none of the couples even Muslim ones I don't see last into old age. It seems that once the subsequent wives no longer have a need for a family structure the "marriage " dies out.
The fact that the community refuses to properly implement our own unique culturally-specific solutions, this is exacerbating over generations unhealthy emotionality and dysfunctional relations. For, if we accept that polygyny has productive value towards rehabilitating and sustaining Black family structures and communities, continuing to accept that we're far too mentally and spiritually unhealthy to implement it, leaves us with a conundrum that seems to continue to haunt us. So this leaves me to ask, “the how or when will we be “healthy enough” to successfully apply an enhanced lifestyle promoting community wellness? For, we have yet to find the success we desire in any area of social reform and cultural liberation, be it civil rights, democracy, economic stability, you name it, but we continue to thrive for and believe in the necessity and value of each.

A proper academic deconstruction of this topic addressing a developing interest in polygyny within our community, which has gain more momentum amongst Black women than ever before is long overdue, and your research fills a void in the scholarship. Thanks you... for this has been a very well-done and enjoyable presentation.

But at the end of the day, a polygamous marriage is still a marriage, and there are plenty of scriptures on that. Nuclear family as practiced today is a very modern experiment. Even in western societies a couple generations ago you always had the grandparents and extended family part of your immediate social group and household, similar to a lot of Indian families today. The family clan. The nuclear family puts too much pressure on the inexperienced two parents to fulfill all the developmental needs of the children, and no one can do that. Children need the extended family. This modern experiment has failed.... and it's spreading. African roots are good, and so are the roots of basically every other culture everywhere in the world that created more sense of community than we have today.

I just be honest, I am a one woman kind of man, now I do not know if that's because the society that I am from but at this age I understand how I understand mind my own self due to selfish, and lust mind.

Not every woman has the strength to be a single parent but no strength is needed to become a mother it's not just raising the children on your own but dealing with society home schools everything you and the world unprotected only a woman can feel that pain not the father the abandonment causes stress anxiety what real man turns his back in his own no conscious it may work if it's done with the right mindset a leader alpha male conscious godly the women become mother's unite help each other where needed immediate family non dysfunctions if having the mindset to make it better but how with many out there claiming owning each others insecurities jealousy anger
Due to the lack understand self, the society that i born raise in, and the misundering of life, reproducing, family, and the power of marriage is why at my age I believe if you want to build a nation that it does not make it law to have polygamy but it must allow and if you want that world to be strong and power than promoted. (I think pornography did this) you did mention that women outnumber men so it shouldn't be a reason as to why we have to fight over each other when there is plenty of us in order to continue to be fruitful and multiply.
Uncle of my Mother had 5 wives. And his father had more than that. Most of us African historical Husbands had a polygamy or were polygamists And others now are polygamists.
