"It wasn't me who was wrong, it was the world!" Imagine being at a point in your life where you get to declare that and have two giant mecha burst out of nowhere and bow to you.
Of all the shots in Code Geass that really is my favourite, it's just so badass and profound in a way I can't even explain. The idea of a Demon's knights of his own creation, descending to raise him from the depths he's been cast to, just goddamn.
@@SlimTheydy just like the idea of Lelouch changing his pieces and playing "whites" (thus making the first move) in the end of the 2nd season? Code Geass is full of those really subtle, but very brilliant undertones and themes in general.
@@za-ir5ni How can you have a great ending without a great story? Not saying Code Geass is the greatest ever or anything but you can't just have an ending with no context. If you showed someone the final episode of Code Geass and none of the others they wouldn't think it was great because they had no context.
Also, interesting side note: the reason this episode was structured so much like the first episode is because, when it was first airing, R2 took longer to come out compared to other series' season 2, and because it aired in a new more high-profile time slot. It was meant to serve as both a refresher to those who hadn't seen the series in a while, and an introduction for those who were watching it for the first time, and hadn't seen the first season.
Real life business impacted this story heavily. There was an almost two year gap between R1 and R2. The show went from airing at late night (R1) to during prime time (R2). So the blood and nudity are toned down from R1. They also had to REINTRODUCE the series to a new audience/age bracket. So the first couple eps have some familiar remixed story beats from season one for the people who didn’t see it the first time. The toy line came out between R1 and R2 as well. So there are a lot less generic mecha in R2 and a lot more “special” ones with actikn figures to buy (I imported almost the entire line lol). And Micky got it kinda wrong about Eupht and the Emperor. The Dub has him say “you’re worthy of being my child now” which could make Micky think Euphemia. But the original Japanese/Sub is “HE is worthy of being my child now.” As in the emperor knew about Lelouch. The English dub made a change to make it more vague/add more mystery.
They also had to work with a shorter timeline so they originally wanted to start off season 2 right after season one with no time skip but they were short on time so they skipped a lot of story they wanted to tell. P.s. I also think they got a smaller budget even though the first season was really successful the studio didn't think they could replicate the success.
Many subs translated the sentence with "He", but the Japanese word actually used was 【yatsu】, which can also refer to females or inanimate objects. And there was nothing at all about child or worthiness. It sounds like he said 【A, yatsu e yariotta ka】- "Ah, the person/thing did it?"
"It wasn't me who was wrong, it was the world". One of my favorite line drops in any anime ever. The best part? He's right and sounds crazy at the same time.
The atb refers to "Ascension of the Throne of Britannia". It is set to the date the first Celtic super-king, Alwin I, was elected by the united British tribes to battle Rome, becoming the first member of the modern Britannian imperial family. This calendar is used by the Holy Empire of Britannia. It functions similarly to the standard Gregorian Calendar (B.C.E./C.E. or alternatively B.C./A.D.), but starts half a century earlier.
The fact chris said the title the way he did, and the way the rest of the cast was so confused made it for this one. Imagine us who waited, the amount of confusion was baffling
Code Geass is like a masterful Cy Young pitcher in baseball. In the Season 1 finale the show was pitching fast balls, things were happening too quickly to keep up with everything. Then in the Season 2 opener Code Geass switched things up big time by throwing you curve balls. Making everyone look ridiculous by how confused they are. Like a batter striking out one after another everyone is mostly swinging and missing with their new theories.
I love how Lelouch can acknowledge that there are no right or wrong sides. It really speaks to how good guys are usually just whoever wins or whoever has the most power necessary to tell the story however they want to. That's the reason I hate Suzaku's character so much, being hypocritical in the sense that he genuinely believes that his methods and ideals without any power to back them will achieve anything when it gets proven time and time again that that's not the case. Honestly, my hatred for his character was solidified after finding out he murdered his dad for an attempt at peace and that he fights because he doesn't want that act to be in vein, yet he still vilifies Lelouch for taking lives for the same reason. We all know that if Lelouch hadn't become Zero, Suzaku would either be dead or an honorary Brit that eventually succumbed to his orders to kill Japanese. I can at least tolerate and respect Lelouch a lot more, being more of a liar than a hypocrite and not genuinely believing what he preaches, using the Black Knights' goal of Brittania's destruction to simultaneously achieve his personal goal of revenge. "It wasn't me who was wrong, it was the world!" At face value, it can be seen as an arrogant and delusional statement, but, with the context of the entire conversation revealing that both sides are using the same logic to justify their f/actions, it also highlights how differing values, not logical processing, are the real reason conflict exists in the world, which I believe is the real message that the above quote is alluding to. Whenever someone declares themselves to be right or wrong, it basically goes against the world and human nature; it represents a failure to realize that there is no real right or wrong, just different sides opposing each other, fighting to achieve their own personal goals.
6:45 and you wonder why nobody in the student council could figure out it was Kallen? Change hair a bit and place them somewhere you’d never expect and they’ll blend real easily. 15:08 Also I love this scene of Lelouch coming back with Knightmares bowing right in front of him.
This first episode usually confuses everyone. Rightfully so, because it's a wild ride. But anyway, Rolo is one of my favorite additions to the new cast.
They just used him to lure CC out. They noted some kind of connection or they may have noticed that she was following him or something. They had no clue either about Lelouch being zero and having geass or CC being immortal.
*Guys Normies, here is the comment that you are looking for, You need to watch the OVA, of code geass, TO AVOID CONFUSION it was aired after season 1 episode 25, the OVA is 4 episodes, thank me later*
Code Geass Season 2 episode 1 is the best anime season opener of all time, the masterclass in using timeskip in the most effective way. The only one that came close or on par with it is maybe Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 1
HEY YA'LL NEED TO CHECK OUT AKITO THE EXILE, WHICH TAKES PLACE IN BETWEEN SEASON 1 AND 2. ITS 4 OR 5 OVA MOVIES BUT THEY HAVE TWO INTERESTING CHARACTERS FROM THE MAIN SERIES INCLUDING SUZAKU AND SOMEONE ELSE😉😉
wonder how they're going to take the explanation, the show doesn't say every little detail in how Lelouch got to this point because it expects us to be able to bridge the finer details. Most of us do, but I do hear those who don't like leaving details up in the air and want those tidbits to be explicitly stated in the show.
Spoiler (ep2) if your confused.. Emperor used his CEass power to transfuse Nunally into a boy as Lelouch lil bro while asked everyone else at Ashford to play their new roles nicely
This show has the best cliffhanger season finale in anime history.... Best ending in anime history... And also THE MOST CONFUSING 1ST EPISODE OF A SEASON IN ANIME HISTORY 😂😂😂😂😂😂
