You can walk around Osea's neighbour, Northey Island, on the days it's open. It's owned by the National Trust.

I visited Osea Island about 25 years ago when some properties were for sale. I arranged the visit with the estate agents pretending I was a potential buyer but really I just wanted a good look around!

Osea Island in the estuary of The River Blackwater is the one place that I have always wondered what is on the private island? Both 'The Woman in Black' and 'The Third Day' Sky Atlantic series (starring Jude Law) were filmed on Osea Island in Essex. It has never been opened to the public and only the residents, who live on the secluded island are allowed to access it by a carriageway in the sea.

You got a beautiful family my man, hope you enjoyed your day out!
If you trespass a little bit, might as well trespass the whole lot! In for a penny, in for a pound.

The island is owned by some uber-wealthy music mogul. For a laugh it would be interesting to find ways to sneak into the island ,e.g. canoe across from Maldon Prom park under cover of darkness. That twit guarding the causeway can’t be everywhere! 😂

You can visit the islands beach by boat or kayak along as you stay below the high water mark
But you can't walk the causeway anymore

Grateful for this! We tried to get on it today after a trip to Maldon. Trespassing signs put us off 🤣

Your filming was as good as the opening of the live episode, without the rain!
Was a great show, the 12hour live episode was brilliant innovative tv.

Its exactly one mile across the causeway. You can walk over the causeway and you’re not trespassing until you go above the high tide line. Check my video out if you like.

@@bobtunbridge7996 how come? I don't want to anyway, but I can't see how the causeway is any different to the beach. It's under the high tide mark.

Sneak onto the island at night, via canoe.

About 6 years ago I spent one night only, on Osea Island, on the River Blackwater, in Essex, England....☠️
It was a very weird experience.
Many movies and films have been filmed on the island, and it also has a recording studio.
It is a private island owned by the hairdresser John Freida's brother, and is accessed only by a long causeway, built by the Romans, which is underwater for most of the tide, only revealing itself twice daily at lowest tide.
At one time, it was a "detox" retreat for the rich and famous.
Once you are on the island, and the tide comes in, you're stuck there until the next low tide.
My ex girlfriend had booked a 3-night stay on the island as a birthday treat, because the islands of Essex have always fascinated me, and I've made it a bit of a "mission" to try and get on as many of them as I can.
    But...it was REALLY expensive.
As much as a week's stay in a nice hotel in Spain or Greece.
    But anyhoo...
The drive over the causeway was a little unsettling.
It seemed to go on forever, and to be stuck out there in a sea of mud, knowing that the tide can come over you at any minute is a bit un-nerving.
When we finally got there, the whole organization of the place seemed very half-arsed and scruffy.
I got the impression that it was just a sort of rich boys "playground" for wealthy scruffbags from West London called "Will"...and..."Hugo".
    You know the types.
Theres quite a few buildings on the island, and the first one they offered us was a dump.
So we moaned, and they moved us into a larger, detached, house, all by ourselves.
But it was still dirty and very scruffy.
We spent the day walking around the edge of the island, but didn't really sleep that well that night.
Something felt very "off" about the place.
My ex was a bit of a witchypoo type, and she said that she got a very un-nerving feeling about the island.
Like something terrible had happened on there in the past, and might still be going on?
It really had that "Wicca Man" feeling about the place.
Also...you feel very isolated out there, with no way off.
    So the next day...we left.
    Quickly. 👻
Weirdly also, on our walk around the edge of the island we sighted what was something like a BIG CAT.
Black ..as big as a large dog, and running through the undergrowth on the wild extreme western side of the island.
    🥴
