    It’s funny how a single comment can change your life. At least 15 years ago, a colleague was jokingly talking about how his check goes to bills. He laughed and said, “I’m king of partial payments.” A light bulb went off in my head and I’ve been making biweekly, half payments (and setting aside half of rent in a sinking fund) ever since.

    I’ve been doing this for years and it’s a game changer. I get paid weekly so I break my bills by 4 for four weeks and set aside each bill amount. I couldn’t imagine paying my share of the mortgage out of one check. I would be eating air for dinner 😅

      i do the same thing for my son, had to show him how now that he an adult. break it down weekly on the credit card, a portion of the paycheck is transferred to the credit card and then the rewards towards the balance before the statement closing date for zero interest.

    It makes a huge difference. I have separated by bills in an A and B method for years and i could never go back. I pay all my bills on payday which also helps me never miss a bill. Its def helping everyone that there are more people on youtube having open conversations about money. so many people were never taught.

    Money is not meant to control people, rather it is meant to be put to work producing more money for you. You cannot build wealth without putting money in its rightful place...

    I've been doing this for 20 years for expenses, savings (sinking funds including 911 fund) and spending $ (cash envelopes). Immediately when I get paid an auto transfer occurs to bill account for 1/2 expenses; auto transfer for 1/2 savings and what is left in the account is spending and a small buffer of about $100. Everything is the same amount every pay (biweekly). Easier to track for us. I love it.

    I completed my goal to get a month ahead. I was able to make funding all the bills I have to pay from one paycheck and all the variable and sinking funds from the second paycheck. That first check is tight but since I’m a month ahead, it doesn’t hurt since it’s funding the next month. It took a few months to get 1 full budget month ahead, but it has been a game changer for my finances.

    This was super helpful! I been wanting to do this for so long but got easily overwhelmed when trying to create a plan to do so. I did mine a little differently (because my circumstances are different), but this video was so helpful in just getting this started and understanding how to take it one step at a time. So thank you!

    Hi Dyana! I have used the half method for my larger bills such as my mortgage.. . I may just try this for more of my bills to see if it is something that will work for my budget. Thanks for sharing this! I love your channel by the way.

    I love this! Split payments are a game changer! I love seeing different financial tips!
    I’ve found these tips helpful: for car notes, reach out to your car loan lender. They can split payments to bi-weekly. It can get an extra payment in during the 5 week months. It’s when you get that extra paycheck (if you get paid bi-weekly). Can help pay off a car quicker.
    Keeping at least $1,000.00 in the checking account, as a buffer, to prevent overdrafts.
    Deducting half of the bills from each paycheck (bi-weekly) can help you stay a month ahead.

    Another thing: at around 12:40 you’re mentioning what sounds like redoing what you’d already planned for September’s paycheck 2 due to the timing of October’s paycheck 1 causing possible late payments. This is very common for me but I’m always hesitant to redo. But I see it comes with this process and will work things out better than being rigid

    I usually look at my budget as a list with each bill proceeded by it’s due date, listed chronologically. As I’m watch your demonstration, it feels like the context is more clear to visualize and commit the “payment schedule “ decided on to memory (if that makes sense). Is that a thing? Don’t remember if you mentioned the preference to plot it in the beginning or if that’s your approach in general. Thanks. Great video

    Can you do a video similar to this but if you get paid weekly?

  • @laceesyt
    @laceesyt 13 днів тому

    I would love to do this but with what expenses I have it doesn’t make sense. I get paid biweekly and my rent is due on the 1st which is $900 and then I have two personal loans that are $74 a month ones in the middle of the month and the other is at the end then my car payment is $561 at the end of the month so me splitting the bills up on some of them doesn’t really make sense because of the amounts. If I save $37 for each of my personal loans together that’s $74 I might as well just pay one of the loans that’s due the soonest. Idk maybe I’m just not thinking about it the right way 😂💀

  • @mememefirst
    @mememefirst 10 місяців тому +1

    Maybe I'm not getting it but do you get penalized for only paying half of a bill? Let's say cable. If it's due on the 15th and I only pay $42 would I be considered late payment once I pull from pay check number 2 another $42 to pay off the balance. Next month I don't want to be billed more for late penalty.

    I've been doing this for YEARS. Never knew it was a real budgeting technique. LOL I just thought it made sense for me and my money. I even break it down even more with my mortgage. There's no way I'm using one check to pay it, so I split it in half between my two bi-weekly checks I get per month, and just pay it at the end of the month, before the first of the upcoming month. 🙂
