  • A 3 minute video of myself carving a oak leaf cluster. Im carving over the top of a factory checkered gunstock. Sort of like a cover-up tatoo for a gunstock. The tool is a pnematic dental drill (360,000 rpm) with dental burs.

    AMAZING!
I was going to do some checkering on a bare stock I have, but then I saw a vintage Weatherby with some leaves
    MUCH more my style
I think I will have to start out by tracing some printed leaves

Was that a diamond or a green stone you used for the stock removal up by your outlining cut? Just wanted to say I appreciate your time in making these videos, just picked up an nsk Presto and am loving it.

I'm new to carving stocks and use a electric 35000 rpm drill and have trouble going across and with the grain. Would the pneumatic drills solve this problem . Thanks for your time doing videos. And also which brand is good.

George Postins thanks for taking the time to watch my video. The pneumatic dental drills operate from 300k - 400k RPMs. So they cut much smoother than their electric counterparts. Adding a dental drill to your tool box would definitely be an upgrade. I personally like the Shofu Air Lab Z from GraphicTransfer.com and the Vortex F5 from the Sculptingstudio.com.
