Siquijor Island is one of the best reasons to live in and around Dumaguete. Enjoy.

The BAD ticket purchase was a shoulda+woulda+coulda experience. Thanks for sharing Kevin, I’m learning from your mistakes and stressful moments. The lack of rooster 🐔 awareness is another good heads up. Brownouts are a major headache and have to be considered when staying in a hotspot.

Is it because the Filipinas just don't want to take the time or the effort to be thorough about things, or they just don't care? I have to say, with no disrespect to you, but often times your girlfriend looks bored, not interested in dealing with certain things.

The Rooster is the national bird of the Philippines! One day booking is a good idea anywhere to avoid long term annoyances. This island is my choice if I don't find a good place in Bacong or Dauin. Though it's apart from the expat community and requires more travel for visits, a resort island has advantages. Calvin found a nice rustic spot dirt cheap on the beach and prices are good there.

You’re going to have to buy a freezer and get your meat at Belcris in Dumaguete. Another issue with Siquijor, is the internet is terrible in the hotels…not sure about long term rentals though. If we ever move, Panglao or Bohol is our first choice. They even have a Belcris on Panglao

@@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 Oh, I'm thinking Starlink and backup generators will be needful things for me once there, even in optimal conditions. Probably a freezer chest since I cook so much. I hope to make a friend of a fishing boat to get a "daily catch" to cook for dinner as I love seafood.

Anika Star no good? Or just bought wrong ticket? Ocean Jet is best but I hear Anika Star is good. Last time I tried to use them they were closed that day. I took slow ferry which is ok since such a short distance. I Love Siquijor though. I have been up those steps to the highest point in Siquijor! You can see Bohol and Mindanao from up there as well. I have stayed in a few resorts there. Coco Grove amazing but expensive, in San Juan!

VERY good info on the ferry ticket debacle. Especially because I usually grab whatever ticket I've purchased and sit down and focus only on making sure I'm at the correct boarding gate I need to be. Or, place too much trust in the business employee, assuming they know better than I.
