  • My house is ground zero for a blizzard with 75 mph winds, 6 feet of snow, the blizzard will put me, the Bobcat T66 Track Loader Snow Blower to the test. The chute kept getting clogged when I got to the street...some of this was the wind and operator error. Please checkout my book, "Mind Kill, Rise of The Marauder at Amazon and Kindle. Please stay safe during this storm happy holidays.

    Suggestion : Once you’ve made your initial pass , you might want to limit your following passes to 3/4 of a full pass , yeah it’ll take you a little longer but you might be able to avoid some of the clogs & near misses !

      We do what we call a "skip pass" with heavy snow like this. If you make the initial pass, the next pass you leave roughly 2/3rds of a row uncut. Then next pass you move that 2/3rds that's remaining... goes really fast and you don't leave a wind row on either side. Just a technique from Colorado.
      Also, if you see the material loading up in front of the box, just means you need to slow down a little bit.
      Great content !!

      It doesn’t take longer to leave the 1/4 of either a plow or blower because you aren’t getting the spill over on the side so no need to go back and do final clean, plus in heavy snow you can actually move a bit quicker. No brainer.

    For all those in snow country from another snow country veteran. Get a bottle of 100% silicone and spray your snow blower and shoot or whatever other equipment you are using to move snow including your scoop. Water ie Snow and Silicone do not stick to each other and it will go a long way to prevent your clogging trouble. With this level of snow simply spray it all down before each use. Blessings and thanks for your work making a nice video.

    Been blowing and plowing snow in western New York (near Buffalo) for over 50 years. One suggestion..slow down on your first pass to allow blower to keep itself clear. You don’t want the snow coming over the top of the blower housing and spilling out the sides. Then on subsequent passes do a 3/4 pass.

    You should slow down a little. Give your machine time to throw the snow so it doesn't push it. Or take 1/2 or 3/4 plow width so your machine can keep up with the snow that it's taking in. You shouldn't blow the snow into the wind. Blow with the wind and the snow will go farther and not on your windshield. If you have to blow into the wind put your shute down low so less snow gets caught by the wind. There for cutting down on the snow on the windshield. If your shute clogs your probably going to fast and the machine can't keep up with the amount of snow it has to move. Otherwise that's a really nice machine and it does a great job. I wish I had a nice newer machine like that for my snow removal jobs. I have an older one with an open cab from the 90"s. It works good but it gets dam cold with the open cab. But it's still better than a shovel.

    • @maraudermitchelli
      @maraudermitchelli  Рік тому +6

      I agree with you but in this storm chute direction and angle just did not work. Changing deflection on the chute clogged the shoot. The wind direction kept changing, and no choice in direction in front of garages. I do agree with taking smaller bites definitely. Thank you for helping happy new years.

    Hello, new to your channel, love your video, We live in Lake Tahoe. Last year we had a record winter with over 600 inches of snow. I bought a Bobcat S220,high flow with a 84 inch Bobcat blower in 04, as we have a 620 foot drive and a large pullout onto a busy highway, half of the driveway has a 7% slope. It’s a life saver for sure. On a 2 foot snow fall it usually takes maybe 45 minutes. In 19 years, with regular service I have rarely had an issue. I agree with others about slow running and after 1st pass take half a bite. The only time I’ve had a clog is with heavy wet snow. I usually clear road when I have 2 to 3 feet, last year we had a 10 day run with over 10 feet. I will probably post this year, my granddaughter taught me how.😂 hears hoping for a good year. No snow yet. Bob Go 9ers

    Back in the day...1960s...Southerntier of New York State...my dad had a construction business.
    Whenever a blizzard came through, he would head out with the front end scoop tractor early in the morning to assist our neighbors with clearing their properties.

    A bobcat was needed for sure for that amount of snow. During tbe video I though about how long it would have taken me, with only an atv with a snow plow and a walk behind belted snow blower, to clear up that much snow. I came to the conclusion that it would not be a matter of hours, but how many days, if it were possible at all. I will be clearing away some snow later today, but only small amounts as it has been mild weather in my part of Norway the last days, and a bit of snow during last night. And because I have been diligent with removing snow earlier the small amount of snow that has fallen during the night should not be much of a problem. And now it is actually quite nice weather. Not windy, but clear, cold and sunny. I hope the weather has improved in your area as well by now.

    • @maraudermitchelli
      @maraudermitchelli  Рік тому +1

      Jens i think you are right, if someone is diligent and clears snow every hour or two it is possible. The problem is we have wives and others, news weather people not to go out due to hazards of weather and our age. Last week someone we know died shoveling their driveway before the storm. Great comment I agree with you. I'm interested in motorsports and my equipment is part of that...I wanted to be self reliant for the last 35 years...especially in emergencies. And when stopping for food or whatever on a trip, about 1 mile from where you'll stop, switched off your heat and let cold air enter and the windshield will quickly get cold and snow can be easily brushed off when you leave.

    To solve the problem with snow melting then freezing on your windshield, just prevent the warm air flow to directly hit the windshield, it should swirl within that area but without heating up the windshield as the air movement will still keep the windshield clear and this will allow the outside cold air to prevent the windshield from icing up and the snow will just fall off or be easily pushed aside.

    Sorry to say , but I am a tractor guy and living in northern Ontario < also worked doing snow removal in town , mostly condos (large parking lots) All the guys are switching to tractors and only using bobcats for tight small areas. the tractors blowers almost never plug up . pto vs hydraulics on turning things not lifting is no competition . Also you say it dose not bog down the motor at all but in every video I can see and hear that blower slowing down and it s actually pushing the snow not blowing it as you can see . maybe the motor for the bobcat is not bogging down but the motor from the hydraulics turning the blower sure are ! I have seen walk behind blowers with bigger shouts on them maybe its a design flow and it restricting the flow of snow going out . Sorry to be so negative but just what I see, its a great looking machine and great video and videos .

      Dean there is no way my tractor blew the snow as far as the bobcat, nor could manage the snow as easily as the bobcat. In my next video you may see that better. I have 35 years of experience blowing snow in a JD 3 series tractor...great machine but the Bobcat is in a entirely different league. there is no loss of engine rpm when this is blowing snow...if it looks like it is struggling it's my error. This blower is a foot taller, and 15 inches wider. I will get better, this would have taken my JD twice as long to blow. I always look forward to your comments Happy New Year.

I'm sure the snow was sticky, but wondering if treatment of the scoop's inside surface would've yielded a better result. I'm totally sure it's a powerful machine capable of more than we actually saw... but it has to be fed. Snow was sticking to the auger shaft as well, reducing the amount of snow it could gather and feed into the thrower hole... which again was probably 30-35% blocked. Love the machine combo.
