The "face" isn't even an actual monster - it's a hologram projected by weird beholding tentacles, which is a really unique design.

That's because they are released in order of stability and the reason why we got the mech quad before is imagine if the mech quad didn't have the mech element. It's like if Candelavra didn't have the fire element, it would be weird.

It’s actually reversed pentumbra because it’s a light instead of a shadow also puntumbra is the shadow of quad and this doesn’t have shadow
i like how people are suprised that both perplexray and pentumbra haromize with yooreek when a monster was going to haromize with yooreek anyway
it was incredibly easy to see happening, perplexray just did it before they did
One other thing that people probably compared them with is how they are basically opposite, with perplexray using lights and Pentumbra using a shadow but both having a face that sings.

The ethereal colossal Zarroë. Despite being so "colossal" it often finds that they have many gaps in their memory. Reason? The gloptic worms to make light that burrow massive craters into their noggin!
Overtime, ethereal crystals accumulate within these holes and allow the gloptic worms to make light shows be reflecting colourful lasers off of them. Any monster would agree such an experience is ethereal!
The lasers have a dual purpose too! Creating a hologram to invite fellow ethereals to join the music!

The Perplexray is a quad element monster.
ELEMENTS:
(Plasma, Mech, Crystal & Poison)
The Perplexray is based on a large burrowing crater filled with glowing purple light and surrounded with multi-colored crystals and dark red eyestalks with pale yellow eyeballs that each had star-like pupils. It also has a light purple visible face made of LED light and lasers with two vertical ovals for eyes and a flattened “V” line for a mouth that forms into an inverted triangle shape or a circular loop. Also it forms it’s visible face into a large eye with three pointy lashes and a ring for a pupil in the center.
I like how you can just see Maskee in the corner to reference one of Ghostympa's other fan made Ethereal Workshop Monsters
Fun facts: at 1:48 perplexray shows yooreeks tongue whilst yooreek is playing. And also at 1:59 the eye kinda reminds me of auglur's eye

The ethereal workshop is truly the Perplexrays dream island!

I really like the design, sound and animation for this prediction. It's honestly one of my favorite predictions
My personal theorie is the face is actually alive and feels really bad for the worms so became friends with them the face got annoyed it couldn't sing loudly so the worms help make the noise for shooting lasers at the crystals which bounces off the face making the face louder

Somehow this predicted both X'rt and Pentumbra
Jesus, that's scary how it mimicked how Pentumbra was gonna sing (including some of the parts in the song it sang) as well as the memory loss in its lore. I guess it's a hell of a case of parallel thinking, since they were probably already done designing the monsters and what they might sound like 4 weeks ago. It does make sense to get a memory eater monster, since the workshop is Zarroë's brainspace

You NEED to use this guy on more islands. He’s got such a unique sound, and the “face projection” concept could work in SO many different ways. I know it wouldn’t really make sense, but I really wanna see him more.
