@@TheStevecas9860 best of all the simplicity of this setup. I'm aware of apps controlled on your tablet you can control everything but what happens when your WiFi is not working, it's no good to you when you're on a remote site.
Ha - Fancy leaving the Bahtinov mask on when imaging, I had a good laugh. Over the years I have done the same, many times, and the older I get the more often I do it. The DSLR battery would also be brill for my Canon 600D but I prefer your cooling box, which I made and use all the time.
@@JulieBell-lp1zu Yep silly mistakes do happen, I even left the lens cap once, and imaged all night, without realising I was taking dark frames instead of sub light frames!!! I won't do that again Lol. It's great to see the DSLR cooling mod is working out for you. I didn't activate mine on the video, cos I need a new power cable, the old broke, as I've stepped over it by mistake, but I still use DSLR without cooling, just take loads of dark, flat and dark flat frames to process the noise during stacking
I am all for computer-free, WiFi-free imaging. I have never touched a smartphone, but I'm happy with my basic 3g dumbphone. I have no WiFi (or smart boxes/meters) in the house. The Wi-Fi on the router is permanently turned off, I use an ethernet cable connection from the desktop to the router. I use a heavy Skywatcher Startravel 150 with a DSLR on my AZ-EQ6 mount and can track for up to 2 minutes with no guidance issues. I have better things to do than looking at electronic screens all day.
Totally agree!! Hence why I've made this video, to highlight that Astro-imaging doesn't require computers!! Quite few viewers are disliking this video???, What the hell is it??? Oh is it because I've mentioned the truth and proved what could be done and they don't like it??? All I'm doing to helping people here?? Crikey peope are so easily offended!!
This was a wonderful video. Your stuff is very good and hits the mark. I have a ton of equipment but I still love your efforts to make good astronomy affordable and practical. Great job Martin!
@@bahu1 Yep still more projects to come!! So I'm in the process of making 4 more videos, The only bad thing is when the skies are permitted for me to do all of the live Astro-imaging. I don't like just showing images and I want to show my viewers with real content and not just staged footage or screenshots pretending I got this!!!
its far better to use an ASIair Pro...and a tablet ..far more accurate than the Celestron stuff! you can see all the tracking , Histogram, and it WORKS out of the box ...give it a try you will find it so much better..I started were you are and wish i had a ASIair to begin with
I do like the concept of ASair Pro, having complete control with all the devices on tablet. But this set-up only works with ZWO products only and again your relying on your tablet to be updated with software. Nice when it works though!!
@@MPAstro it woks with DSLR as well , in your video you struggled at the best of times i went through this with celestron and gave up it is just not as capable ASIair pro and like i said it gives you real time data and adjust ability in app on a large screen...you can even use your phone and i know you have one of those!!
@MPAstro Great video Martin I like your attitude using stand-alone tec, Keeping it simple to use is my way of doing things!

Martin, can you tell me where you get your prints done and how you set up/save the files to send in to the printer to ensure good quality prints?
