Lovely plants.
New subbie here. 😊 I love the aroma of soil and fresh cut grass too. I just got into plants. Have always loved them but living in a city apartment, didn't think I had the space. But the fact is they are essential for cleaning the air and natural beauty. So I started with one plant and now have six plus multiple seedlings of flower producing plants which I am enjoying watching them grow. I hope to start an herb garden too. Starting small and when they get too big, I will just share with family and friends who have property and the space. Still learning and enjoying the process. Found you while looking for information on the Norfolk Island Plant. That's my first plant. Was a gift. Love it! You have beautiful plants and your garden is amazing.
indeed, preferences change and in the end you realise we just love nature in general
+manygaga I agree :)
Seeing your couple of videos on planting bulbs/tubers made me feel like doing some too. I picked up some Jack in the Pulpit and Red Trillium, a couple of native species from our forests. I have enough things that require extra care so these will be nice and easy once they're established.
I hope it grows. Flowers are beautiful. I only have a plant of orchid and a plant of trinity. Wish I had the space though for more. Your plants are awesome.
hi Bill, how can I contact bloom lovers? I looked on there website and can't find an email, phone number, address, etc. I know you have gotten plants from them before, and I wondered if you knew how I can contact them? thanks. great video by the way. keep it up
I would water down the bottom of the pot instead of watering from the top of the pot in a saucer
Bill I know that you said that your Thailand giant plant was struggling to make it. I just wanted to inform you that there is a seller on amazon.com selling them for $30 I actually purchased two from the seller. Just wanted to give you a heads up! happy growing
1 gallon size plants
+miscellaneous michelle Oh thank you... :) I wonder if they ship to canada
That I don't know loll
I was wondering if you still have your bamboo plants and if you could make a video on them
When they die down, do you keep the soil moist, or let it dry out completely?
And also, is it necessary to repot each year?
Thanks for your lovely video
Elaine from South Africa
i try to let them dry out a little more than normal but never bone dry. as for repotting.... its not a live or die situation if you dont repot annually... but your plant will be noticalbly happier if you do.
What i would love to see is you sowing musa seeds.
+Eddy Feyen I want to buy some seed... all of my past attempts have been unsuccessful... but I refuse to give up... I love banana plants
Try bying at rarepalmseeds or ebay but always look for the freshness very important. I myself grew ensete glaucum, Itinerans India Form, ventricosum large form. Next week new seeds will arrive again so. If you want some more info to increase the rate of germination i can help with that.
Care same african violets
Cool we love gloxs, my partner Todd was wondering what happened to your lotus? we have oodles both full size and dwarf.
I had to get rid of the lotus because of space issues... but now at the new house I will certainly grow some again... I would love to try some dwarf varieties.
Well if you would like some live tubers give Todd an email, he's always happy to share, oh and he said he also has the uber dwarf "bowl lotus".
sekanek_2004@yahoo. com he will send back a plant/seed list.
Hey There, any recommendations for stores that sell rare or hard to get tropicals, cacti, succulents or Carnivorous plants? I'm in Mississauga, on but go down to London, on often so would love to know if you know any hidden gems anywhere in Ontario? :)
+Andrés Silvera that's a tough one... there has not been a place that seems to specialize in the weird and wonderful.. I used to work at Parkway gardens in London... they would usually have unique things... I like plant world in Toronto... Sheridan nursery has some neat things from time to time.. Terra Greenhouses has a good selection as well.. the trick is to visit often... stock changes all the time... I usually visit garden centers each weekend... looking for weird and unusual things. It's hard but worth it
thank you! and ya i do the same! jade gardens in milton is pretty cool too, and sunday im going to crystal star orchids and super excited about that! they have alot of really rare and hard to find plants 😁😁 ill definitely check out parkway gardens 😁
+Andrés Silvera Oh yea... I forgot about Jade... I love that place... ohhhh I have not been to crystal star
PlantzNThings you should go!! they specialize in rare orchida and plants and have the most amazing stuff ive seen anywhere!
garden centers in my area seem to have some nice selection.. but they dont specialize in them... you just need to go often... i like the watering can in vineland, Rice road greenhouse in fonthill .... terra greenhouses also has some fun things in early summer
Bill, I have watched this video several times. I live in Georgia and have been UNABLE to locate gloxinia tubers online or in our garden centers. Can you advise those of us that are interested in having gloxinia on how to purchase one by shipping? Date: August 1, 2020
You can order on Etsy :)
The reason why i dislike the common name of these is, igives confusion with the true genus Gloxinia that are rhizome growing. While the Sinningia speciosa culticars are tuberous.
Send me in Brasil kk dificult finde bulbs here
Your gloxinia will probably sprout. They are like potatoes, the longer they are stored, the more shriveled and soft they get. If the tuber is rotten, your finger would break into It and a stinky pus like fluid would come out. The gesneriads family was named by a Swiss naturalist named Conrad Gessner, so it's pronounced like his name, with a hard "g" and a soft "s", but so many people pronounce it the other way that it really doesn't matter. Technically it would be gess-nur-ee-ad. Since Wikipedia lists about six different spellings for his name, I doubt if he would be offended by your pronunciation.
