Thank you for watching.
Such a pleasure to watch this...love both of your channels. In all seriousness you guys would be fantastic doing a podcast together...great chemistry!
Top chat boys ! 👍
Thank you!
This was one of the best half-hours I've spend on UA-cam in quite a while. Thank you both for this. Two of my biggest watch collection influences of mine....as well as influencers of my channel.....in one video. Fantastic.
Thank you kindly!
@@islandwatch you seem like a really down to Earth gentleman and TGV is such a classy guy as well, I really hope you do more videos like this in the future because I enjoyed every second, thank you.
@ Saleen-- *GO GATORS!* 🖒😎
Very refreshing Marc, really amazing to see you and TGV just talk watches. Hope your well sir😊👍
Thank you!
Top 10 anime crossovers
LOL
👍
Two titans of the watch community. Always great to see collabs like this!
Thank you.
One Titan (Mark)...and one tit
two greats, two influences that made me want to get on here and create the channel I have now . Hope to interview them both one day !
One decent retailer and a weasel.
@@ivankerr3570 Thankyou, ivan, for demonstrating the point I *just* made, ever so perfectly-- you have zero manners.
Well done!
🖒😒
Do people disliking not realize this was filmed long before coronavirus was in full swing? Use your brains people.
What are you talking about? Yours is the only comment that mentions it.
Yes, it is odd how people do not realize YT is not a "right now" platform.
I think it’s more because people dislike TGV.
@@DarthMalaks_Missing_Lower_Jaw why
Oh how I miss the good old days when you could do things like this. I hope everyone is healthy and gets through this pandemic all okay. Thank you for providing a nice distraction and let me enjoy living for a while. 😁👍
Stay positive!
Brainwashed.
Awesome! The 2 guys most responsible for this crazy watch obsession of mine in 1 room!!! Thanks guys!👍
LOL, sorry, and you're welcome
Awesome video. Seems that we are sitted on that couch too, only talking about watches and having a good time. Congratulations
This was a great interview. Cue the social distancing comments! 😂 I watched this on TGVs channel a couple of weeks ago , Thankfully the virus isn't the time travelling variety. Take care Marc. Best to you and your loved ones!
Thanks!!! Will do.
Been subscribed to both of you guys for years and I don’t even own a watch lol
LOL, well, thanks for watching.
GaryGuevara that’s my plan right now. I’m looking to buy a islander watch soon. I wanted the blue but it’s sold out.
After having subscribed both channels for a couple of years, I have no money left haha
Never would of guessed it was your first interview.
Thanks Brian.
Hey Marc! How about an islander in platinum? with blue dial
A dream come true
:D
Please continue with these contributions, it is a pleasure to see the two interacting
That would be insane.
That worked very well. Naturally one can't agree with all opinions expressed by others but nevertheless I thought it was very refreshing to get such light-hearted discussion from two men who are very knowledgeable in their fields.
Props to all involved, including watchbox for not controlling tgv content. Very nice to see. And I said this is the other video... Marc has legs!!!
LOL, I do!
😂 I was beginning to think he might be a puppet 😂💕
@@bogrot69 still could be I guess...
I keep coming back to this video. Makes me smile like an idiot each time.
Great video! You've inspired me to start wearing two watches! I want to be just like Mark.
Sweet!!!! Hoodie is next.
Better chemistry here than when Tim Mosso interviewed TGV.
;)
Yeah that was hard to watch. I really like Tim, he's an encyclopedia of watches but it didn't work out well with TGV
Also better proportioned than when with Federico.
Hey Marc, longtime fan and subscriber of your channel, I always enjoy your content and you touch on subjects that nobody else does, it's always interesting to hear the perspective of someone with a background in engineering such as yourself, you have a way of explaining things that makes it very easy to understand, it's much appreciated and lastly welcome to my hometown of Philly.
Thanks for watching!
Ive found the 2 watches thing is more for ones self than aesthetically..i wear 2 while im at home even its just satisfying
I'm doing it right now.
Same, I dig wearing two at home. My wife thinks I’m a dork, but she’s always right.
What a great interview and chat, this was like the horological version of a Graham Norton show, very entertaining and inclusive indeed. Just what we all needed during these trying times.
Thank you
Hi Marc - really great to see you two guys together - both my favourite watch guys in one place and enjoying each other's company - what's not to love?!
And one word that links you both - ethical. That's what keep us coming back.
Stay healthy. All the best, Rob in Switzerland
Thanks Rob!
Great video, any chance you’ll open a European branch of Long Island watch? 😬 The 20% import tax in Germany is preventing me from becoming a customer ☹️
Sorry :(
Great video.
Now get more Islander watches in stock!
you guys rock!
thanks for the content
You are welcome!
I love seeing people with shared passion talking. Good interview!
Thank you!!!
Fantastic interview! Well done. Did you film the tour around Philadelphia? I’d like to see it, pretty please. Cheers. :)
Just with my eyeballs!
"I was playing on Fortnight and you popped up" is HILARIOUS!
Another great collaboration guys 🇬🇧🇺🇸👍
Thanks!
2 gentlemen talking watches. But never been to Philly? Really? Come on Mark...
Nope. Might have driven through it once. But never stopped. LOL
@@islandwatch I'd say you got to get out more but now is definitely not the time...
All of the Squale talk made me switch my watch over to the 1545-ORIG that I bought from you.
Sweet!
👎 for Archie Luxury
Not sure I understand, but thanks for watching.
“For the watch” ?
This was a really relaxing enjoyable video to watch. I know that’s sounds weird but it was like just being in a cool convo with your buddies about watches. Thanks
TGV makes an excellent point regarding people "demanding" things-- whether it's via e-mail or otherwise...
Generalizing, of course: there is a definite *lack of manners* inherent in people's attitudes these days.
I've noticed it in MY country (the U.S.), but I don't know whether or not this problem extends abroad.
Sociologically speaking, it's also why channels like *The Urban Gentry* are so important-- to go beyond watches and actually *demonstrate* what a lot of people are lacking (i.e. class & manners) in their lives!
Thanks TGV, for doing this. And to you too, Marc-- for exemplifying the firm-but-fair *professionalism* that is more rare than it should be in the 21st century...
*O&U!* ⤴
A very good interview.
Just watched the vid, a bit late perhaps. Nice chat chaps, but Marc's comment's regarding Seagull did stick out! I believe they bought all of their tooling equipment from Switzerland after the last war, but may be wrong.
Gentry,
Do you happen to be a fan of Christopher Hitchins? He considers the founding forefathers framing of the Declaration of Independence, and the United States Constitution as a second enlightenment. This western Renaissance was born and headquartered in Philadelphia.
He really made a concerted effort to bring an Englishman called Thomas Paine into the American Conscience. The forgotten forefather, that first person that coupled the idea of rights and freedom being inherent to the common man, rather than just the monarchy.
Oh fuck me something relating to TGV where comments aren't disabled?!
Your comment at 23:00 about the difference in colour and in weight between stainless steel, white gold and platinum was absolutely spot on!! These comments make the salt of this type of medium, and it would be great if you could do a demo, a real demo, on this subject -- i.e. show the three metals side by side, and use an electronic balance to show the difference in weight between the models. Also, it would be nice to show in reality what "stealth wealth" really means, in a side by side demonstration of opulent luxury vs restrained luxury. Just my two cents, keep up the great work!
2 legends on one screen! Awesome stuff! 👌🏻👍🏻
Thank you.
I think it's admirable that you both and other vloggers refrain from profanity!!!Thank you!
Great video, Chaps! I shall try to say: "Total antithesis of titanium." 5 times without passing out :)
Two of my favorite UA-cam watch channels together! Both of you do a great job of educating us not just on particular watches but on the watch hobby in general and the technical aspects of watch-making and horology. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much, will do.
I wear an Apple Watch on my right hand facing in,, and a real watch on my left wrist facing out. If I’m playing guitar that day, I might lose the Apple Watch.
Gentry,
I had no idea you were an audio engineer. Which mic do you recommend for broadcast journalism?
I really enjoyed this video. Both of you have helped me to enjoy wearing a watch.
You should do a collab with Teddy Balbasar next.
Thank you
You guys provide a great service to us collectors.
Thanks for all your informative videos.
I don't currently wear two watches at a time, but honestly if i had as many watches as Mark i would have to wear two watches just to get all of them into rotation.
Listening driving. Please record at a higher volume signal. Not easy to understand words.
At last, we find out what the T stands for,, lol,,,,
:)
loved the chat...but no hoodie!!...are they banned in Philly?
LOL. I tried to dress my best! I wore pants!
I wear 2 watches.
No asked yet. I would say I testing the accuracy of one against the other
Nice meet up🇬🇧
Thanks.
If you guys did a podcast I would listen to it every day! Love these vids!
Wow, thank you.
Great interview! I love your friendship!
What is that guy doing with Watchbox? I have seen nothing.
My two favorite watch guys. What else can I ask for.
Holy Crossovers, Batman! Do you remember when the Green Hornet and Kato suddenly appeared on Batman, back in the day... (and all of our young heads exploded)? LOL That's how this makes me feel. :-) Great! Now if you'd only fly to Sydney Australia and meet up with Jody from "Just One More Watch". LOL. Great stuff. Thanks, Marc.
LOL, thanks for watching.
The best reboot of "The Odd Couple" ever!!!!
👍
My wife doesn't appreciate you 2.😂
And the rest, they say, I history. Great vid. Keep at it!
To the case point many people (perhaps only me?) don’t know that back when pocket watches were the only option you purchased the watch and then picked out a case typically separate manufacturers. I learned this while researching my great-grandfathers Elgin pocket watch I inherited and learned the value is in the case not so much the watch due to the precious metals used.
Thanks for the info.
Are you using 3 cameras to film this?
wow! Two watch "spiritus movens" in one
It is content that we deserved !!!
:)
@@islandwatch make Long Island great again !
Amazing interview! Loved every second!👍
Me too, thanks :)
Both of u guys are fun to watch. You're both very informative. And it's easy to see the mutual respect for one another. It is very good to see that dynamic, especially when there is so much petty jealousy and disrespect amongst you tube video makers. I'm new to the watch world and have learned a great deal from you both. Keep on posting. Stay safe.
Will do, thanks for watching!
Noooo TGV shook hands and put his finger in his eye......noooooo we need you guys to live!!!!!
LOL
What a pleasure to see you both together! Learned quite a bit from you both over the years. Now if I can work harder to remember to buy a watch from Long Island Watch Co. Mark! And maybe even TGV’s WatchBox...
You are both something sadly in short supply these days......gentlemen.
Thank you
Seeing two people with the same passion, especially when it's not a common passion
is like seeing two people fall in love at first sight haha xD
Brilliant video!
Btw marc, would you consider making an Islander Monster? I think it would be freaking awesome..
Both super cool guys!
Wow, thanks!
Very enjoyable..
Just watched some obese uncouth Aussie guy spouting complete venomous twaddle having whilst having a meltdown.... Keep up the good work both of you guys and don’t let the b’stards get you down,
I found both you guys separately and respectfully watch and learn tons from both your channels but now to know your friends brings me even more joy ! I don't know how I missed this video till now lol keep rocking boys! 🙌🏽
Two of my favorite youtube watch personalities right here. In these uncertain times, personally, I think affordable watches are the BEE'S KNEES, and I feel like the advice these channels proffer dont steer the watch newbie wrong on that front! Seiko, Orient, Casio and now Islander ... so much value in these brands! (Islander 38mm on-wrist this week, which I regard as my FINEST watch even though it wasnt the most expensive!) Thanks for the content guys!
Great conversation and nice to finally stumble on this video even after over a year since this “aired”.
Nice and relaxed conversation between friends talking about their passion; watches.
Thanks for letting us in 🙂
Ps Mark can you do a watch and learn on oil filled watches? I see some people modding them and others are commercially available...any thoughts? Hope you are well.
Just bought a watch from LIW, I love these dudes. I can never exude the class that TGV has and I can never be as smart as Marc, but I can wear the same pieces! Old video but it always brings me joy catching a vid I missed. You guys are great and a huge benefit to collecting and learning.
I bought one of marcs watches and all I can saw is WOW! This watch is one heck of a watch it feels very substantial without being to big or too heavy it strikes a nice balance and I’m already thinking of an skx modded our build but that gonna be a few months as I’m enjoying this one so much! Thanks Marc!
Welcome to philly .you'll see me around in classic blue Jag. Precision. Watch 10th and walnut.high end watch repair.
Who knew Marc had a side profile...or legs!
Lol
Funny reflection on wearing two watches. Here in sweden the former director ,CEO of Volvo cars always in the 70 and 80`s were to luxurious watches. His name is P.G Gyllenhammar.
Enjoyed this! Thanks, Marc. You probably are aware, but it seems that only TGV's mic was functioning for this.
Love the bits and bobs videos
Excellent video ! I so respect both of you guys, honest, kind, and knowledgeable. The both of you treat the watch industry with such professionalism, we are all better for it. Take care and please stay healthy.
Will do, thanks.
nicee
I won’t say anything.
Did u run up the Rocky steps in Philly. A lifelong dream of mine
LOL, nope.
hahahahahhh...I can't believe it ... 😁👍so how do i just see this video now ????
You're great all the way forward !!!
Marc! YOU live in the city and you've NEVER been to Philly?!
I believe you-- but it's difficult... DIFFICULT I TELL YOU! Lmao!
I don't live in the city! Long Island!
@@islandwatch Sorry-- my bad... Still-- hope you tried some of Pat's Steaks, or Gino's while you were there! Wouldnt want them to revoke your "NY" card or anything... Lol
Great to see the 2 greatest youtube watch enthusiasts get to together. I enjoy both your channels, tgv and island, 2 different styles, great content!
More vid with you two!
Has to be ICONIC x
My 2 Favorite Channels Merging to This video!! Where is "Helloooo and Welcome"
good video guys..
Great guys!
Wow 2 for 1 bonus
Two great gentlemen! I heard first from LIW from TGV. A great video! Congrats.
