Can't disagree with that. That's why I saw his performances live five times. JT is #1 in my top ten. Anyone who has never listened to the music of Tull is missing out on songs that actually have meaning and substance.
Except Ian maybe you didn't see Ian back in the late 60s early 70s but from that time period no one has ever come close including Freddy @@bignasty3274
Even Metallica fans should appreciate how this song put Ian Anderson and company to stand on the same stage that year. A huge, meaningful piece with the powerful rock edge that had to shock the critics as well as the unprepared. Still a personal favorite.
No one has heard this song in 2024... because it sucks and I can't believe that this utter garbage, that isn't even metal, beat Metallica .... complete noise mess is what I'm hearing
There are whole Jethro Tull albums that are underrated. "Stormwatch" for instance. That album starts out great, and then, it gets even better. "Song from the Wood". Exquisite music.
+Zachary Vanchiere much agreed! - Martin's playing on Crest of A Knave was stunning - it's my favorite gateway album for new Tull fans, sonically it sounds so freaking good when cranked up. The older re-mastered recordings have improved the "punch" of older Tull songs but Crest of A Knave always had it, its a very accessible album as well for new fans, shame that they didn't go and receive the award though, that was lame on the record company's behalf (telling them not to go to LA)
I'm getting ready for a Tull tribute show and I have to learn all of Martin's parts. He's probably one of the most underrated rock guitarists of all time. Very unique style and unusual chord voicings.
Anderson's voice is a vocal instrument that's uniquely Tull. His music is inextricably grooved in the experiences of my teen years. I didn't know much, but I knew Jethro made me think about more than pussy and horsepower.
@@petersonlafollette3521first time I saw Jethro Tull in the mid 70's. I knew there was something special about that front man and the music was superb.
Amazing performance! Saw Tull last year on the 50th anniversary tour, wish Martin and some of the others had been there but it was still a fantastic show. The band of my youth!
Rolling Stone mag never liked Tull, nor so-called "progressive rock" in general. Whatever, Rolling Stone puts two hack guitarists like Johnny Ramone and Kurt Cobain in their top 100 list, it loses all credibility.
I saw them on this tour in Atlanta. Exact same set as here but with a mini-pub around the keyboard with band members pouring themselves ales during the show. I bet they kept that out of this show because it was in a Muslim nation.
Rock music doesn't get any better than this.
I have been following Tull since the fall of 67.
67 fell!?..whaat!😊
Heard this on the radio today and now I just can't stop listening to this amazing song!!!
THE Greatest ROCK PERFORMER OF ALL TIME. No one else REMOTELY comes close to Ian Anderson. NO ONE!
I've seen Jethro Tull 13 times over the years, and they are great, but as a front man, nobody beats Freddie Mercury of Queen RIP!
@@bignasty3274 you are out of your mind. and their music was infantile compared to Jethro Tull. Not even close or you are gay

It's just why we're Tull fans...

👍
Tull was Heavy at times. Mixed with beautiful melody
@@326vinceTull is way better than Metallica.

And Budapest is one of the greatest songs of all time
I wish I was there. My mind is still there. FOREVER!
1000 years later we’re still watching listening. Thank you JT!
probably the most underrated JT song....
The whole album is great but so underrated
It's not underrated, it's considered one of Tulls best
My favorite !
This is the best song and theor best album imo. I'm younger than most Tull fans though. My father got me hooked. I miss him.

Man at work for real. Thank you so very much Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull.

Julie Cresswell mine too. I absolutely love it.
Everything this Cat did was Solid GOLD!!!!!!!
I love this song. Jethro Tull is just so damn cool 🔥🔥🔥
Great live performers. Glad to have been alive for this music.
I love the way he uses the flute as an accent with both flare and nuance.
no one else plays like jethro tull......!!!!!
An isolated Martin Barre guitar track would sway anyone who thinks Metalica should've taken the Grammy.

Zachary Vanchiere and must add my friend tull music and their magic didnt need that awRd that made happy emptyheaded of metalheaders😜
Zachary Vanchiere martin is god of guitar that gave blood to tull music
Exactly!! Metallica couldn't carry Barre's case!!!! Overrated!!

I will always love Jethro Tull for this song.
The music or the lyrics you chose ❤
Oh god, I was there... Memories awaken...
do you recall the exact date of this show?

The same- really captured my imagination then, and continued on to prove it was no fluke or flash in pan....

another gem in a long list of A plus songs from JT
So good...I'd wager that's quite tough to pull off live... Spot on Ian and Co.!
Wonderful! Great song.
Oh my god. I was there in 1991. I was 26!
Great song and lyrics. Just leave my farm, you keep your $$.
Great video
I remember this song. At the time of he Federal government condemdemned my family farm in Alabama. It says it all.
Uma banda incrível. Tri.
Damn good song!!!!
This is so good

Awesome song
One of a kind band what a showman. Incredible talent
thats a compeltely masterpiece..unique tull..martin &Ian
What a haunting song
Right on, thanks for posting this clip. They sound great. Awesome song.
Not that anyone would give much credit to Rolling Stone mag,but how Martin is not in the top100 guitarists of all time is a sin.
I like Rolling Stone mag...but I like your comment too. Barre was awesome. Great, powerful live guitarist.
Rolling Stone mag never liked Tull, nor so-called "progressive rock" in general. Whatever, Rolling Stone puts two hack guitarists like Johnny Ramone and Kurt Cobain in their top 100 list, it loses all credibility.
Now you might give me compensation but that's not what I'm chasing I was a rich man before yesterday!
Tull is one of the greatest bands of all time😊
sencillamente divino...
Uauuu ! Good !
Yeah!
Ian Anderson is unique
come on ian .... get on that treadmill... you can be slim jim singer again!!!!
There's a reason that no one plays flute in an electric guitar band anymore.
Explains imminent domain in the USA.
I'm trying to figure out where these guys are tuned at? I've read e but I'm hearing G? Then I don't see a capo. I'm lost
.
Harvester of Sorrow was better. It was about planting sorrow seeds, then I guess harvesting them in the fall?
Turks dig Tull!

Who is the keyboardist here?
Maartin Allcock.
