The line "They are noiseless!" always strikes me funny. ^_^

And then on to Twinkies, Wonder Bread, and Coca Cola. God bless the power of advertising.
Around when this was made the number of TVs in USA was going from 30,000 (with 39 broadcast stations) in 1948 to 6,000,000 TVs by 1950 or so, and the ubiquitous power of TV commercials was just beginning to be felt. But at least they still didn't have political attack ads yet.

They've ALWAYS had political attack ads. Just not on TV. Haven't you heard of "Ma! Ma! Where's my Pa!...? 😮 🤓😎🖖🏻

@@paulsarnik8506 In fact I had not heard of Ma Ma etc, but of course there were political attack 'ads' before tv, maybe even on radio. I don't remember. But my concern here is with tv and a few factoids about its history. I was there for the period I was talking about and a big fan of Crusader and Rags, so I am just evoking a little personal nostalgia. On the other hand I haven't watched tv,, broadcast or cable, in many years now, and precisely because of ads. They're getting more common on streaming, but there are ways to avoid many of them.

@@gnikcohs Ma Ma where's my Pa? Off to the White House Haw! Haw! Haw! was the chant/slogan used against Grover Cleveland about having an illegitimate child but mud slinging had been going on far longer than that. 🤓😎✌🏼
