Growing California Poppies from Seeds, Season 2, Days 0-172

Season 2 of Growing California Poppies from Seeds is going great with waves of shiny orange blooms. All sorts of pollinating bees come by to feast throughout the day. The flowers open for only a few hours a day when it is hottest in direct sunlight, and close up as soon as the shade of my building covers them mid-afternoon. Can I keep these blooming year-round in my large cubic planter with a giant internal reservoir as perennials, or will they wither away come August?
