Thanks Geraldine. Great demonstration.
Great tips. I own a Janome sewing machine, and today, I experienced terrible tension issues. I changed the needle, cleaned underneath the bobbin, and oiled the machine -still didn't solve the problem. I, also, [before watching your video] removed that first plate for the first time ever- I wasn't sure of what I was doing. It is difficult to remove. [ I was unable to remove the rear plate. ] My first plate does NOT have brushes. After viewing your video, I took a piece of folded paper and ran it through the thread track as you demonstrated here. I had no idea of where the tension discs were located on my machine. Thanks for that GREAT information. Anyhow, after doing all of this, the machine is still suffering tension issues; and I just had it serviced about three months ago - July 2019. I will try again to solve the issue myself, before taking it to the repair shop. I really, really do appreciate your tips here. Thanks again.
Unwaxed dental floss works really well for cleaning the tension discs as fluff and thread will cling to it :)
Thank-you! Very helpful.
What a great tip many thanks ☺

Hi, can you tell me what the name of your thread holder is? I have the same machine and I’m looking for a multiple thread holder.

I know this is a 4 year old video and my comment probably wont be seen by the author but I just had to say thanks for this. It was exactly my problem. I had frayed thread in both locations you mentioned and the folded post it worked like a miracle! Thank you sooooo much.
