R.I.P. Pat and John, you were the greatest tandem in NFL broadcasting 🎙. I can’t believe these guys are both gone now. You guys were my favorite broadcasters. GOD Bless ✌🏻
This is the Game that made me A Permanent ELWAY Fan above anyone for Life!!!!!!! This 31-30 Denver Broncos Win after being down 13-0 still makes me feel Great. I remember watching this Live on Saturday when I was 16.
Regular season Saturday assignments for Summerall & Madden would become rather rare starting with about now. They used to be on at least once a year when they would cover primarily Giants games during their first 4 or 5 years together.
I think the only ones after were Packers-Vikings in 1991 (Super Bowl Dry-Run game), Cowboys-Saints in 1999 (Friday/Christmas Eve) & Eagles-49ers in 2001.
We didn't see this game in the Fresno market because the Bulldogs played in the California Bowl and the ABC affiliate that aired that bowl didn't want competition so this game didn't air on the CBS affiliate in Fresno.
Hard to believe that the very next year the Redskins would score 35 straight points in the Super Bow in the second quarter and that would be it for the Broncos in the Super Bowl
1:05:40 here. The Broncos do a quarterback draw which works for a touchdown. The next year in a the Super Bowl, the Broncos try the same draw when it was 3rd and 3 from the Redskins 6. This time the Redskins were ready and they did a stunt with the tackles that led to a 1 yard loss for Elway. A field goal later and the Broncos are up 10-0. The second quarter happens and we know the rest of the story. 35 straight points.
Wow how bad was Zendejas the kicker here? How did he have a job? I mean missed extra points, field goal tries not even close. Talk about having the “yips”.
@@brianbachmeier34 Lohmiller was legit, one of the best kickers in the late 80s/early 90s. I do remember one game when he was bad missing like 3 field goals and veteran Skins radio man Frank Herzog was like “today we have to call him Chip OOHHH Miller.” 😂
Im in heaven listening to Pat and John.
Im in hell. They cancelled the Redskins.
John and Pat are in peak form in the booth! Thanks for posting!
Agreed Andy..
RIP PAT SUMMERALL!!!! Miss you both! Announcers today mostly stink! Hypocritical boring terrible knowledge and more!

This was a great game with two heavyweights. If only Super Bowl XXii could have played out the same as this game.
You said it man. Super Bowl XXII was a dud for the Broncos but glorious and historical for the Redskins.

@@MNsportsnut that and (I'm almost positive) the last weekend of the 1988 season. Washington at Cincinnati.
@@ryanstrnad8442 Confirmed. Someone on UA-cam did post that game on here and it is indeed Summerall & Madden.
viciousSuper Bowl. Tony Lilly puts Ricky Sanders into the record book

Super Bowl 22 preview though with a *very* different outcome.
Super Bowl XXII matchup
Where's the intro it showed how tough the nfc east was that yr two teams finished 14-2💪🏾💪🏾
Redskins tore their ass up in the Super Bowl when it mattered. RIP Redskins I’ll miss that team
Me too. I loved that team from 1981-1992 in the Gibbs era.
THE GIANTS SOFTENED THEM UP FOR THE SKINS/COMMANDERS BY BRINGING THEM BACK DOWN TO EARTH AFTER THE DRIVE VS CLEVELAND!!
@@richiebee1984 it is also because of a good team and good adjustments by Gibbs ….

Zendejas messed up an onside kick at the end of the game!!
Yea great move! Cut Moseley for this idiot! Smart!
@@keleonicky That was Steve Cox who kicked off, not Zendejas. (But Zendejas was awful regardless.)
In 1988 they drafted Chip Lohmiller in the 2nd round. After Mosley and before Lohmiller the Redskins had some serious kicking issues.
