- 1970's advertisement "All Wheels Pulling" for the 7580 and 8550 Allis Chalmers tractors from a Demo Pak machine which was used by dealers before VHS. Its basically a narrated slide show.
I love how A.C would explain the mechanical components in detail .
Thank you for saving this old movies.
That front loading of weight made the front tires wear real fast. Too much weight to transfer enough to the rear. No complaints, it pulled a 12 bottom Degelman moldboard for us. Probably more than we should have it was a monster plow, super heavy. If only they would have made the cab bigger than a portopoddi. We used Allis and Gleaner exclusively. The 8550 came with 350hp, which the Allis tech turned down right away. Blew out 4 torque converter even turned down, all warranty covered, but a pain..
IH never had a Trans Brake until they brought out thr Case Powershift in the CaseIH models!
Thanks. I think I'll buy an 8550 based on this video.
As tractor component 4wd tractors these were the best on the market. They weren't a Steiger or a Versatile, but they weren't meant to be either
Allis Chalmers tractors main flaw was their small cab, which made a hard work day for the operator.
14:13 Is that an 8 track player?
I am impressed at how much horsepower they made without computers and 100s of sensors.
If I was still involved with farming I would not buy anything with a DPF.
1978garfield Tractors were better back then .
Very interesting footage, thanks for sharing! They maybe do not point all but in my opinion, the look sharp and sound awesome (what I could hear on my phone)! I don't know about any AC's her in germany and that's sad.
What happened to them ? Why they went away ?
Okay
I don't like "stadium" lights... I preffer "Racetrack" lights... :-)
They were junk, despite all talk they gave during the video.
There in house transmissions and engine did not match the reliability and long life of the versatile and steigers.
Baloney. they were the best on the market for their era
i saw an 8550 up in Quebec in 2012…the owner brought it second hand…changed the motor out and put in a 8V92 2 stroke Detroit Diesel putting out 430hp …..he never operated it without ear muffs …. you could hear this thing before you could see it…
these tractors today are not good
What? You mean these AC tractors are not still good today? Or modern day tractors are not good?
