In cloning if you choose "Copy without resizing partition" you'll need other application to merge the partition done by this software with the un-allocated partition that results by choosing the first option. So, it's better to opt for the second option "Fit partition to entire disk" from the very beginning, since Lazesoft doesn't do merging partitions.
i actually tried to clone same as the instruction, but it doesnt work. i already do it twice and same result.but when i tried to do a fit partion to entire disk.and finally it work.great help
I'd really like to see a video from you with the also free program Rescuezilla that does the same job but quicker. So, if you could just do a detailed video with Rescuzilla including the merging partitions after the cloning action I'd really appreciate that. There are some other videos on UA-cam but it wasn't explained clearly the merging partition performance.
Aye, I just put Rescuezilla and Clonezilla on my Ventoy usb. Rescuezilla is just a fork of Clonezilla with a GUI, but I did see on their Github repo the current release could have some issues that Clonezilla doesn't, so I put both on just in case. Lazesoft is bootable so might as well drop the ISO of this onto ventoy too.
Actually it does. I copied windows 11 from a 512 nvme to a 2 TB nvme . It did everything right down to the same size drive for each. So my 2 TB is now a 512 mb drive. Rescuezilla cannot resize back to a 2 TB. Have to buy AOMEI to resize.
@@yorkshireplumbingI'd advise you to have a separate flash drive for Lazesoft Recovery; any drive that concerns the recovery procedure should involve very reliable sources/resources so that you're not taken offhand ascertaining that you don't have the recovery tool available just because you got stingy of using only one flash drive that got hampered without knowing beforehand!😮
Thanks for finding this awesome FREE cloning software, Mike! It looks better than some you have to pay for. I will definitely add it to my toolbox! If I do use it often, I will pay for it.
Thanks Mike, good ideas here and I tested cloning, worked very well with booting. I am putting this software as clone to go to, also Imaging cool and other tools they have there. Also tested USB booting Win PE they have just in case. But my main will be cloning just to flip SSD drives if needed.
If you're cloning from within Windows, some tips to minimise errors: 1. Run a chkdsk /f first on your source drive 2. Shutdown any third party security software 3. Prevent PC from sleep or standby 4. Disconnect from internet, you don't want any auto updates (Windows, Adobe, etc.) to start while you're trying to clone.
Nice video! I have a question about after cloning my system (boot disk) .I am using my old SSD as the destination and my system disk now being a M.2 on my motherboard being the source disk. This is difficult to remove to check the cloned disk to bootup. Can I just disable the M.2 in the bios and then change my boot order to the Clone to check it or can this still cause an issue?
Very, very satisfied of this program it does a very good job, better than Aomei Backupper! With Aomei Backupper I've tried numerous time to do a recovery flash drive on a Verbatim memory stick - either as a Linux, WinPe or saved an ISO image and then restore it afterwards on the same memory stick and was futile; Aomei Backupper is a total failure whereas Lazesoft does a very good recovery flash drive with no hitches. What else does Lazesoft is that by choosing Backup Drive you'll get a similar bootable copy of your original drive with the operating system that can be restored on ANY LATER HDD/SSD of whatever form, size, brand or form factor. So, you can rest assured that if disaster strike with your original drive you are in the safe zone knowing that you can have all your data back on your new drive.
Only software I have used years ago was Clone CD and Nero mainly for disks. So as long as the data to clone is less than new drive this will clone to new drive? If your source was 1Tb partitioned in 2 x 500gb (o/s and media say) could you clone to 2Tb drive and keep o/s still at 500gb and increase media to 1.5Tb? Very interesting software and saves a lot of hassle reinstalling o/s to fresh drive imo. Thanks Mike and Kath👍
Remove the old disk, you may even want to place the new disk into the slot where the old one was, turn your computer on. Done. OR, leave the new and old in after cloning, boot to BIOS, go to boot select menu (check motherboard manual) and select the new cloned disk as the 1st boot option... it will be easier if you remove the old drive first to spot and select the correct boot disk in boot select menu, THEN once you have that working right, you can plug the old drive back in and format it for use.
@@yorkshireplumbing i did try both those options.. problem is that my pc is saying 'No Boot device found' if I don't select the original drive as boot drive.. seems that the boot image is still on the old drive.
if you are cloning your primary boot drive,, after the clone, shut down and disconnect the old drive and set the correct drive in the boot options of the bios
I am going to upgrade one of the HDDs in my computer, it's a secondary drive (not the C drive), and I use it for all of my online games. The reason for the upgrade is not because of performance, but capacity, I have a 2TB drive that I want to replace with a 6TB drive. With this software, can I clone my existing drive to the new drive, and use the new drive for gaming without having to reinstall anything??? Thanks in advance!!!!
This program doesn’t work for disk sizes bigger than 2tb. It will only make a 2tb partition and then the rest of the disk is mbr format so it can’t be used
I've been trying to clone a boot drive with windows 10 installed with this software, Every time i select to copy the drive It always seems to alter the boot partition size so they aren't the same. Do you know why this might be? It certainly doesn't boot either. :(

Does it clone from a bittlocked source ?
i would think so, not tried it myself, but i can't think of any reason it wouldn't
I don't yet know of a single cloning software solution that will function on a drive that is bitlockered.@@mikesunboxing
