Ray Ferraro is absolutely one of the very best analysts and game commentators in the NHL. I was really pissed when Sportsnet brought in Cuthbert and Simpson from Toronto to do the Canucks/Oilers series, instead of John Shorthouse and Ray Ferraro like I was hoping.
It was a national broadcast. They couldn’t have the Canucks’ crew because it was unfair to the Oilers. They didn’t do a regional broadcast for each fan base.
and to top this off, Ray Ferraro was still on contract with ESPN.
Simpson is insufferable.
Well in order to understand this scenario, it's important to be mindful of the central Canadian assumption that Toronto is the center of the Universe. And with that in mind, it's comforting to know that the Leafs will never win the Stanley Cup. Unless Berube can work miracles, I don't see it happening. That's a shame.
I miss Jim Hughson!
Ray, scoring 40 and 41 goals makes you a 40 goal scorer. Be proud of yourself man, you were a great hockey player.
I wanted him in Vancouver in the early 90s.
@@christhornycroft3686 We all did!
RAY back in Brandon WHL had some scoring abilities. RAY was a smaller player in an era of 🍖 heads. Smaller players weren't given opportunities or drafted.
Ray is awesome, knows his stuff, good show guys.
I had tendinitis as a competitive swimmer. People don’t realize how much it affects you. In day to day life, you might feel discomfort and take a Tylenol. But when you have to exert yourself physically, it’s a nightmare. You feel like nothing is working because it isn’t. It’s a horrible feeling. You’re not in excruciating pain, but there is the physical aspect as well as the psychological one. You just feel awkward and achy.
I agree. I had it for 2 years. Never thought it would get better. Got cortisone shots and considered surgery. After several months of rest which is very hard to do for your elbow, I've been fine for the last 5 years.
I had tendonitis in my right elbow from throwing too much and it took forever to finally be right. It hurts and it drains the strength from the joint. If that was what Petterson had it completely explains his performance to me.
@@earlmartin7650 Especially after how he performed in the bubble. If he was just soft he would have been soft then also.
Great insights by Ray Ferraro, who articulates the salary cap crunch so well. As fans, we become fond of players who have performed well for the team we cheer for, and we feel they need to be signed at market value. Management, however, needs to look at the bigger picture and see if rewarding that player for his play is going to become detrimental to the team's overall success. Sadly for Canuck fans, I think the likes of Lindholm, Zadorov and Joshua may have just played themselves out of a contract that the Canucks can afford if they want to maintain a competitive window. And it's not easy to seek the "next man up" either...
Love listening to Ray Ferraro's takes
My new go to hockey sage....Ray Ferraro.
Raayyyyy!
Great segment guys!
No complaints. The team was miles more solid than last season.
So, about tendonitis:
Some years ago, I had what I would call 'an irritated wrist'. You wring a cloth out, and damn, it just doesn't feel right, not painful, just not quite right. It felt like it needed a minor tweak, an adjustment, to get things aligned, and all would be well.
So, one afternoon, when I was fed up with it, I tried to tweak it a bit. A little pull here, a little twist there, nothing violent at all, just hoping it would all snap into place and feel good again.
That night, I woke around 3 am feeling like someone was trying to saw my hand off. Like I'd snapped a bone, and my manipulations had trapped a major nerve between the jagged bone fragments. Forget about sleep, I was pacing my apartment, cradling the wounded appendage and wondering just what the actual F had happened to it.
I'd seen wrist braces on grocery cashiers in the past, watched them moving little cans across the scanner, thinking 'pfft, come ON, you'll have to try harder that THAT for some compo....'
I wore a brace for 4 months, and even the vibrations from DRIVING were utter misery, so rather than slagging Petterson for looking 'placid, uncaring', understand that he's being medicated to the legally permitted hilt to even be functional, let alone perform at his best.
High end sports, with THAT!? Yeah, no thanks. Hope he comes back to form next season, and the Canucks can FINALLY bring home that elusive cup.
The "Big Ball of Hate", is such has such a breadth of hockey information. Nearly always an excellent interview.
Resign Zadorov and Joshua...go from there.
Lindholm shud be priority 1 then big z
Side pieces
It’s gonna be zadorov and lindholm. I think they are trying to get necas?🤷♂️
Zadorov and Hronek are the priority.
Yeah keep those two you need the heart and grit they bring
Didn't the city of Vancouver shoot down a proposal by Kerfoot to build a soccer specific stadium near the waterfront? I've played on astroturf and I can say with confidence that the majority of older players hate it. Not sure if that's what Messi is considering, but I do recall a number of famous European footballers not playing here for that reason. The Whitecaps need a natural grass field or big name players will continue to pass Vancouver by. Bush league and I can't say that I'm surprised given the history of Vancouver politicians who strive to keep the city as a bedroom community. Pathetic.
Yes I'm willing to give Petey and the team some slack on how this went. But even in that case it's not a great sign that some tendonitis can thwart your superstar player. We see time and again all of the greats playing through truly horrible injuries and somehow finding a way to produce. Because they're a cut above the rest and can adapt. If Petey had better puck protection skills, or even was just harder to push over it wouldn't be such an issue. Lots to work on, and that's on him.
Yeah, for me I think it just comes down to learning how to play throw some pain in the post-season. Compound that with there being less space around the ice, it's not something you can snap your fingers and go 'business as usual' into
Ever had it?
Look I realize his post season wasn’t perfect but let’s not forget Hronek is a 26 RH D who plays big mins and has offensive ability. I think $8 sheets is too much but let’s not pretend resigning Myers for cheap is going to be the a solution for the right side over getting Hronek in the $7s
I'm guessing that turf at BC Place feels as crappy as it looks? 🤔 Too bad the World Cup wasn"t next month, the field would be natural grass by now.
Top rated turf at BC Place
Can someone explain the Whitecaps situation? What happened there?
Lionel Messi‘s team Inter Miami was supposed to be playing against the Whitecaps on Saturday in Vancouver. Yesterday, it was announced that Messi, Suarez, and Busquets are not going to play against Vancouver and they are not even coming on the trip. People shelled out hundreds if not thousands of dollars to be at the game. Over 50,000 tickets sold, and now the three best players are not coming
White caps thought Messi was gonna play on that bargain basement carpet...😂
I wish he picked his favorite 2 of the 4 players Dhali asked him about, cap issues be damned. At the end of the day the game is still hockey, and then accounting after that.
It’s gonna be hard to improve the team, but not impossible. At the very least, most of the team could theoretically come back…
We might not have cap space or draft picks but we have prospects
Fewer prospects than most teams have...
The Canucks have been terrible for a decade (which means high draft picks", and they have little to show for it.
@@lotuslandmusic7770 During the Benning tenure the Canucks drafted less and lower than they would have had they stood pat. They also traded away some pretty stellar prospects after they drafted them, and completely screwed up the development of pretty much any skater that came through the farm system. Worst rebuild ever.
@@lotuslandmusic7770Canucks haven’t had very many top ten first round. One was Luc Bourdon. Saw him hammer the puck through the mesh in a tourney. Canucks never had first round first pick. Some teams like oilers 4x in 5 seasons. There’s page online for every team’s draft 1st-3rd rd. Dallas, Florida have done well in the one to ten pick through three rounds since 2000. Other teams too. Edmonton spent years in the basement and it’s why the lottery is as it is today
Let’s not pretend the players union doesn’t play a huge role in players signing elsewhere for more as a “benefit” to other players down the road and moreover, to the union itself. It’s the nature of unions.
There's literally no scenario you can invent where a player is like "hmmm I'm rich, have it all and in complete control of my agency. I really want to live and play in Florida... but my damn union insists I should take the bag and go to Winnipeg."
Tired of hearing we need to find a top tier line mate for Peterson. Elite players make average players into good players. Hymans best total 21 goals until McDavid made him into a 36 and 54 goal scorer.
There are plenty of examples throughout the league over the years.
I seem to recall Petterson setting up Mikheyev over and over and the puck staying out of the net! It takes two to tango but my biggest knock on Petterson has been he hasn't driven play like he did when he was a rookie. You cannot put anyone with him and expect results. The linemate needs to be able to finish.
Ya put Mikheyev and Lafferty with McDavid or Mackinnon and they’ll still score 120 points 🙄
This should start a rebuild and get rid of there sissy’s
Future buyout
Ray is the best
Why not move Lindholm to line 2 and petey to line three regular seasons a power play. Meyers will go on his own so will hronek keep Z .try trade ufa for few 1 or 2 picks we will lose players anyways
Messi not coming to Vancouver equals scam.
Joshua under $2 million, if not pass.
Z over Myers.
Myers over Hronic
Time to find a bunch of 20 goal scorers for $2M each then, seems like it's easy to find
@@philipsangalang5077 I doubt Joshua hits 20 again. That's the issue.
Love him but trade Petey
For?
Boesoer, bloadclotts maderna
It was from a bad bruise. The V shots caused clots soon after injection, not years later. However permanent heart damage can show up at anytime
Fuck the Coilers, the Canucks would be in the finals if Demko played and the refs weren’t coddling them the entire series. Overrated.
McDavid should have bèen suspended for a game .. cry baby
Just another Vancouver Canucks disgruntled fan!!! 🤣.... You guys just don't get it do ya!! Vancouver never had a chance against Edmonton... You guys played 1 good game, that's it... You should stop crying and start worrying about your 11 million dollar FOOK UP!!
Didn't see the play against Dallas, but it seems to be a bit of a trend...cut Hughes should have been a 4 minute as well. For a superstar who gets all the calls, McDavid is a dirty sneaky player.
@@jimthompson6955 So was "The Great One".
The team has no grit, other than Zadorov and Hronek. We need a couple forwards that are like these guys before we can be considered a contender.
I think Miller and Joshua would disagree!
Hronek has "grit"?! He delivers almost the least number of hits among all NHL defensemen, has next to no penalty minutes, season over season, and never drops his gloves. What the heck are you on about?
isn't this about the canucks?
their are not worth that much money any player
He picked the oilers even though his own security ige works for the canucks. A complete clown.
no he is not... he is objective
The epitome of objectivity. And he was correct.
What a preposterous statement!
Ferraro is so full of bs lol
MLS should be litigated all ticket buyers compensated.. total horseshit
Diet can help Petterson's inflammation. Also less video games!
Yes, video games are famous for knee injuries.
@@cliffordjohnson5602 lol. I did throw out my shoulder once but you'd need some epic bad posture to throw out a knee!
