The program they use to manipulate those waves is really just a specific set of 0s and 1s. The way the 1s and 0s behave is like the Brain. The brain's neurons are just cells that fire or not fire impulses. Despite their little jobs, they are a result of everything we feel, think, see, remember and just who we are.
One could say that all of life, everything that you feel and everything that is you, is simply a reaction to some applied stimulus, a chemical reaction in your brain cause by a specific input that just ends at the impulses in your neurons. I, for one, like to think that there's something much larger behind it all...
