theoldcameraguy indeed, I can definitely vouch for that! Lol And thanks! Glad you enjoyed. Great channel you have as well! I’m surprised I haven’t came across it sooner!
@@analogadventures9869I also have this camera but I still haven't tried it if it still works. However, I just wanna ask if how do I get the photos taken? Like to be transferred to my phone? And what's the limit of the film, like how many photos or does it depends?
The viewfinder is excellent! There are some limitations: it's a 3 element 35mm lens (no big deal). However its aperture range is f/4.5-11 and the shutter range is 1/45 to 1/180. It's auto DX codes are 100-400, so using iso400 film bright sun subjects are 2 stops over. Maybe, that's why it's an OWL and prefers low light. Focus is 2.6ft- infinity. Still, despite its limitations, it takes good pictures. Check out Zana Briski's book Born Into Brothels. She gave this model camera to Calcutta children who had no future. A film and photo exhibit was the successful outcome providing the children the money to escape their dire circumstances, receive a proper education and a future hope. The amazing thing about this photo book is that despite the ugliness around them the documented beauty.
I randomly picked this up and it’s now my go to point and shoot. Photos come out so good. I was so surprised especially since I think I paid $5 for it.
Omg you’re so lucky, film cameras and film rolls are super expensive where i live i got this camera for around 70$. I don’t regret it tho it works great i like it :)
Recently I having been enjoying lomography 400 or 100. I like the very vibrant colours that it can have. When I’m testing a camera or just want a cheap film to play around with as im out, im always super happy with Kodak Gold 200 or Kodak Ultramax 400.
Has anyone been able to find a manual for this online? I’ve only been able to find one for the SureShot Owl AF-7. I imagine they’re very similar in operating them, but you never know! Thanks for this great video btw!
I’m just seeing the same thing for manuals. The camera are very similar in what they can do. It just look like the biggest difference is where are the setting are placed.
Sorry I feel like a broken record asking this, but I feel like I saw 2 different types of films for this camera that you recommend. I just came across one of these cameras myself and I’m really stoked to use it I’m just not sure which type of film would be best to use for it some insight on the subject would be amazing!
Lexi Lanning haha yes I did, tbh at the time I made this video I forgot which rolls I used for what. I had a bunch of film I needed to get done and I forgot which was which. For this video I’m quite positive that I ended up using Kodak ultramax 400. For most of my tested videos I use either Kodak gold 200 or ultramax 400, they are quite similar in some ways the biggest difference being the iso (400 or 200) 400 is very much an all round film with some low light situations coming out ok, 200 on the other hand is best for daylight shots. Both films are quite inexpensive, compared to other films, so it tends to be the most likely film I take with me for testing cameras or just hanging out with friends. Sorry about the confusion on that, I confused myself as well. Haha
Aim Shoot Develop well my friend you are in luck I have a canon sure shot supreme sitting on my shelf! If you give me a couple weeks to shot and make a video, I can have a test episode done about it! Just letting you know.
Great video! What film did you use? I've had this camera for yearsssss but I got it before I was into photography. Now that I've been shooting for ~6 years, I want to use this camera again. I'm really liking the colors and quality of the photos you took. Great work!
Ryan Hines Yo! I’m so sorry I thought I responded to this! I was using some Kodak gold 200. Yeah I just picked it up looked really interesting! Get out there and shoot! It’s a super fun camera to bring along for travel or something.
Gillian Vicencio yes it is! Prima, Sure Shot, and Autoboy are usually all the same camera from model to model. The names are different because of the markets the where sold to. Sure shot for the American markets, Prima for the European markets, and Autoboy for the Japanese markets. (Small dumb fact, lol, but now you know.) ^_^
Catherine Lewis which shots are you thinking about? On my end, pretty much all the shots where in focus and fairly sharp. Also if the video quality is low photos might seem blurry cause of the compression that UA-cam does to my videos. Lol
The Owl’s viewfinder really stands out for me - Great for people who wear glasses! Thanks for posting this video

Analog Adventures Thanks for checking out the channel!

Walking through Manhattan I found one on the sidewalk next to a bunch of garbage, it still works too!
this video was so informative thank you for talking about the batteries and the flash not alot of people do that in their reviews
I randomly picked this up and it’s now my go to point and shoot. Photos come out so good. I was so surprised especially since I think I paid $5 for it.
I was very surprised too! Definitely something that is worth hanging on too! It’s great to carry around and bring on trips!
Omg you’re so lucky, film cameras and film rolls are super expensive where i live i got this camera for around 70$. I don’t regret it tho it works great i like it :)
It looks exactly like the Sureshot AF-7
Too bad mine doesn’t work anymore. Tried putting different brand of batteries but it still won’t open :(
The shots are so good, i'm tempted to get this
You won’t regret it!! ^_^
Unless the camera is broken :/
But there are plenty of them out there, so one would have to work at some point!
Cool video and pictures. I’m gonna buy my first film camera and this video was helpful. Thinking to get this one!
Omg it has a timer !!
But what about a tripod feature? Can it be attached on a tripod?
Thanks !
Loving the super cheesy fade away btw
You’re so funny😂 great and helpful video!
Leoni Kathryn Renée haha thanks! 😁 glad you enjoyed!!
YEG!! Just picked up an owl last week actually. What film are you liking with this?

Edmonton? That’s crazy how I looked up reviews because I found one in my house and you happen to be in the same city as me

Is there something that you’re wanting to figure out?

Analog Adventures thank you so much I really appreciate it! Super excited to use it!
Can someone please explain what the Rec, Mode, select, set thing means in the back? I don’t know anything about cameras :( lol
I’ve been looking at this one or maybe a canon sure shot supreme, these are really slept on cameras! Thanks for the vid!

@@analogadventures9869 heyy i am new to film photography, can I use kodak portra 400 on this camera?
uwu -Xpo YES YOU CAN! Just make sure you get 35mm film, not 120mm. Just load it up and get shooting!
I thrifted this exact same camera it looks like new but I don’t know how to use it haha 😂
Hey that’s a great find then! I hope you have got the hang of it! It does seem like I should make a video on shooting film and operating camera soon.
is this the same with canon prima af8 date???
Gillian Vicencio yes it is! Prima, Sure Shot, and Autoboy are usually all the same camera from model to model. The names are different because of the markets the where sold to. why are some of the shots blurry? i’ve noticed a lot of shots come out like this.

What film u use it with? Gold200?
13bb this was ultramax 400 that I shot with. For my episodes of tested I usually use ultramax or gold.
